I have this problem with situps, regardless of how I do them I seem to experience some form of pain that others do not. For example, if I put my feet under something to counteract my weight usually it feels like my legs are going to be ripped off (just below the hips) on the return, and my lower back aches in most forms of sit ups/crunches. No pain experienced with side crunches though. I figure that I'm doing them wrong, but there's nothing I can quite think of that would cause these pains. I can work my abdomen in other ways, but I'm just curious as to what is causing the problems. Oh son of a bitch, I think I have a muscle imbalance around my shoulder/traps area. I don't know how to explain it but my left shoulder like caves in while on my right shoulder, my traps seems to extend all the way to the right shoulder on the other side, so it's like one side my trap is cut short, I don't know if it's actually my trap or my shoulder though. Right side is straight while left side looks like there's a big dent in it. It's only noticeable in certain positions.

I think I might start lifting while basketball season is still in. We barely workout or have intense practices anymore and it bothers me. It's d3 basketball so it's basically the same as high school was
Oh well I'm kind of relieved, my imbalance isn't actually one, my left shoulder just has a slightly bigger range of motion than my right so so my right shoulder just can't reach that motion at all and thus doesn't appear the same.
