Wowz haven't posted here for a while...haven't gone to the gym since I think October. Smith Machines at Planet Fitness scared me away. Anyways, I've been looking at another gym in my area called Anytime Fitness. They are another franchise type of place, but all I care about it affordability and proper equipment. And girls. Anyone trained there? I've got a 7 day pass to try it out, but I gotta go there when there is actual staff, which is a tad tricky despite technically always being open. when you're a member you get a key so you can go at 3AM if you want. Special lock that locks back up when the door closes I suppose. But they only have staff M-F from 9-2 and 4-8, and mornings on weekends. They have an appealing deal where if you sign up by the end of January, you don't pay dues for 3 months. But the question is, what do you pay when it's time? I recall seeing an ad a few months ago from them for like $12 a month, but I don't know if that rate is still available.
You're already set for failure if you're going to workout for the chickas.
You're already set for failure if you're going to workout for the chickas.
meh not necessarily, motivation is motivation amiright. i know a lot of peoples motivation starts of with wanting to look good for chicks but then changing later on
hiphophiphophiphophiphophiphophip Truuuuu Im tryin get a little yucky tonight. Not full blown, but just a good,no hang-over level drunkness.
meh not necessarily, motivation is motivation amiright. i know a lot of peoples motivation starts of with wanting to look good for chicks but then changing later on
Hehhh, I just rarely see motivation started by something that doesn't have to do with yourself go past a few weeks to be honest, it happens but its usually quite rare. I started Working out for myself, to be healthy and feel good about myself and it just stuck, if I would have had done it for the chickas I would have just gave up after realizing they're still not sucking my dick.
What's like a snack-type food that I can just eat between meals a few times a day that will help me put on muscle mass? I assume cereal won't work right?
A snack-type food that you could eat between meals that would help you put on muscle mass would probably be lifting weights. euheheuueeuehueuhehueuhehueuhe
anything edible

Whenever I drive by them I fail to spot any conventional bench press sets or -heavy- free weights on the inside. If they don't have both of those I would say you're wasting your time. Keep in mind these "fitness centers" are usually the kind of place centered around people doing things like zumba and shot-in-the-dark weight loss programs (which really grind my gears).

As long as I get strengths.
I'm personally very weary of those popular modern 24 hour fitness centers. Well, I still have to see if that is the case with the free pass I have. I'm pretty much going to base my decision on if they have proper equipment or not.
i'm just what you made god
I tried out a Jetts fitness (I think they're only in Aus) just to see what it was like as a 24 hour gym. It was pretty shit. They can't have a lot of free weights due to it not being supervised at times which meant no squat rack, no leg press, no bench press, hardly any barbells (highest was 40 kg) and you couldn't add any more weights onto them, and no preacher curl. Because it was a newer and smaller gym it might have not had a leg press and preacher curl rack yet, but even still you basically can't bench or squat without a smith machine and there's no way you will be able to deadlift. However it has made me appreciate my gym more.
my cleans are about 30 lbs heavier than my jerks so I wanna get them to about the same level. what should I focus on? shoulders? traps? lats? or everything
my cleans are about 30 lbs heavier than my jerks so I wanna get them to about the same level. what should I focus on? shoulders? traps? lats? or everything
Jerks. The best way to get better at something is to just do it. If you can't get the weight up or are too exhausted once you clean it up, try loading the bar on a squat rack and then jerking it, or on boxes. Front squats and Back squats too. 1-3 reps, lots of sets, a shitton of squats.
the things i would dooooo for jerk boxessss fuuuckkk maaannn

If you absolutely don't want carbs though, I'm not sure. Breakfast is really the only meal where I've actually got carbs in it outside of the small amounts found in vegetables during other meals.
SO I got a tour of that Anytime Fitness gym I posted about. Not a bad gym. I can do deadlifts and shiz. But, they don't have a free weight bench press or squat rack. They have this machine called a Max Track machine, which uses the same concept as a smith machine with guides, but it doesn't have stupid hooks and pegs to get in the way. The bar can be moved back and forth from what it looks like, so I don't know if it's as bad as a smith. I know ideally you have no guides and shit, but I'm wondering if this machine will be acceptable for squats, benches, and overhead presses. It looks kinda similar to this I guess: I've got a 7 day pass to work out, so I'm gonna try them out starting tomorrow. EDIT: Hmmmm you know wat I remembered about another gym that is in my area, and I looked them up. From their gallery I can see they have truly free weights. All the proper equipment I've been looking for in gyms that I check out. They cheap too. Only thing is that they are much bigger than Anytime Fitness, so I might occasionally run in to crowd problems and end up waiting for my turn and shit. Minor inconvenience, I know, but it's something that prolly won't be a problem at Anytime. Trying to weigh my options here.
so gonna do a cut: 40-40-20 Macro split (Prot/Carb/Fat) BMR is about 1800 or so, I lift 3 times a week (pretty intense), do pilates on rest days, and do a good amount of walking, otherwise not much excessive activity. I caculated about 2700 calories to maintain weight, so I'm thinking about ~2200 calories. Sound good?
Macro splits are worthless afaik, just calculate how much protein you'll need (Something like 1g per lbs of weight), do the same with fat (I think this one's around .3g per lbs, not sure though so read on it.) and fill in the rest with carbs. I'm currently cutting and my average carb intake is like a mere 25-50g per day and I'm a 195 pounds 6' dude.

It just feels so much more natural when I clean it first. idk maybe im just weird.
plateau plateau plateau fuck I gotta change something and fuck 'em plateau
deload [editline]28th January 2013[/editline] or eat more
Got my first official offer and talking to a Big Ten school today. Going to work out later today.
deload [editline]28th January 2013[/editline] or eat more
when i plateaued at the overhead press, what helped for me was going down in weight (8 kg, but it was an arbitrary amount) and doing the same progress again
Fuckkkk, my cardio is improving decently fast, I've only been lifting for the past 2ish years now or so so my cardio wasn't the best but now that I got my treadmill I'm improving decently. It's only been about a week but last monday I was doing a mile in 15 minutes, Friday I was doing a mile in 12 minutes and today I did a mile in 10 minutes.
