For warm up I run 2 km and that usually takes about 9 minutes and 30 seconds
A mile is about 1.61 km so I'm still not at your time but I'm getting there. I'm just surprised, I've always been a heavyweight (Though I've long replaced most of that fat with muscles) and literally never did any cardio so I'm just happy to be improving fast. The last time I did Cardio literally 2-3 years ago back when I was a fucking 265 pounds fat piece of lard ass, I would die after like 20 seconds of running.
Not a bad gym. I can do deadlifts and shiz. But, they don't have a free weight bench press or squat rack. They have this machine called a Max Track machine, which uses the same concept as a smith machine with guides, but it doesn't have stupid hooks and pegs to get in the way. The bar can be moved back and forth from what it looks like, so I don't know if it's as bad as a smith. I know ideally you have no guides and shit, but I'm wondering if this machine will be acceptable for squats, benches, and overhead presses.
NOPENOPENOPENOPE. Not developing any balance or working the stabilizers. Might as well be using a machine. Definitely don't go to anytime because that's just fucking sad.
Can someone rate this workout? I started lifting weights about a year ago with the Stripped 5x5 program, which I did for about 4-6 months. It taught me proper form and such, but I never really got much out of it in terms of gains. I switched about 6 months ago to the Practical Programming as seen here: http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wiki/The_Starting_Strength_Novice/Beginner_Programs#Practical_Programming_Novice_Program I've gotten advice and sort of totally changed it. I know this is frowned upon, but I feel like I'm making more gains with this than with the straight program. So Facepunch, tear into me. This shit goes down three times a week.
Barbell Squat (with the bar on back) 75x8 95x4 125x2 3 sets of 160x8

Barbell Shoulder Press 45x8 65x4 75x2 3 sets of 80x8 OR Barbell Bench Press 65x8 75x4 85x2 3 sets of 95x8
(Alternate on each day).
Barbell Curls 35x8 45x4 55x2 3 sets of 65x8 OR (one day a week) Barbell Deadlift 85x8 115x4 145x2 180x8
I can already feel the screams of "QUIT DOING CURLS" coming in. I'm mostly lifting for aesthetics and right now I'm bulking (albeit slowly).
Fuckkkk, my cardio is improving decently fast, I've only been lifting for the past 2ish years now or so so my cardio wasn't the best but now that I got my treadmill I'm improving decently. It's only been about a week but last monday I was doing a mile in 15 minutes, Friday I was doing a mile in 12 minutes and today I did a mile in 10 minutes.
cardio is a lot easier to improve on than strenght, especially in the begining. Give me someone who's not super obese who runs say a 12 minute mile and I can have them running it in 7 in 3 month.
fuck man i wish i played football here everyone like "wow bruh do u play football??? cuz u lookit" "...nawh..." fAWk

Give me someone who's not super obese who runs say a 12 minute mile and I can have them running it in 7 in 3 month.
Oh yeah, its a great feeling for me since as I said, I practically went straight from dying in 20 seconds of running to being able to run a mile in 10 minutes, considering I didn't do jack shit as cardio outside of hitting the heavy bag (Pretty hard to determine how good your cardio is with that), I was really happy just being able to do a mile in 15 minutes and now, less than a week after, I'm already doing it in 10 minutes. Also scratch what I said before, forgot that I took a slight break so I actually started doing cardio last thursday. Reducing how long I run a mile in by 5 minutes in 5 days? Fuck year. Can you stall muscle building on a 3day split (back bis, shoulder legs, chest tris) even if you eat well and sleep well?
yes anything is possible if u believe
Here's a borderline obese guy who did 1600 meters in the last Cooper's test he did (about 5 years ago). Am going to start walking/running after snows melt again and will be concentrating on speed rather than time this year.
you should be focusing on a cal defecit too
Macro splits are worthless afaik, just calculate how much protein you'll need (Something like 1g per lbs of weight), do the same with fat (I think this one's around .3g per lbs, not sure though so read on it.) and fill in the rest with carbs. I'm currently cutting and my average carb intake is like a mere 25-50g per day and I'm a 195 pounds 6' dude.
not nessecrialy. it all depends on how fat he is and his goals. if it's a sort of mini-cut, touch n go, keep on bulking then you're right. otherwise, that's over simplifying things.
If you were talking to me, Ryz0, then I already am. Have been dieting and improving fitness since 2010 october. Currently I've lost 23ish kgs (28ish before christmas) and have went from obese to borderline obese.
can someone explain to me the problem with bicep curls?
there is no problem with bicep curls except that dudebros that often have no concept or knowledge of lifting often only know that exercise and little more
Benchpress and db curls only bro.
can someone explain to me the problem with bicep curls?
pretty much what chrille said, theres nothing wrong with em its just the curlbros and the benchpress heroes are the 2 main types of people who have no knowledge of lifting that go to the gym
What sort of tricep exercises would you recommend?
What sort of tricep exercises would you recommend?
Curls bro, curl for your triceps, curl for your legs, curl for your dicks, curls are full body work outs. On a serious note, I'm a big fan of Dips.
What sort of tricep exercises would you recommend?
i like skull crushers, push downs and kickbacks. french press is a pretty good one too
