I've seen leg press machines where you can put "1000lbs" (yes, one thousand) of resistance and it only feels like 225 or so. I'm convinced the weight on machines is more about making people feel good about how much they're putting up than accurately representing resistance. Plus, machines isolating areas can definitely be a bad thing. Whereas freeweight bench press hits the pecs and tons of other muscles for stabilization, a machine would just hit the pecs. This means you'd have to do other machines and whatnot to hit all those stabilizers you neglected. While it's possible, I imagine it'd lead to you spending more time at the gym than you'd like to.
Using machines will get you "ripped", they actually work the muscle more because machines are designed to isolate whatever muscle you're aiming to hit. You should tell him to mix free weights and machines though.
Isolating a ton is dumb. I've never met anyone whose gotten much progress from machines
I've used machines for rehab and that's pretty much it. Blew out my knee once and was restricted to them until I had the stability for squats and deads.
Machines have their place. Especially with people who have imbalances.
Alright, so I did Stronglifts for quite some time now and I recently started getting tired of it and hitting plateaus and what not. So now I'd like to switch over to mass-gaining programm. Which programm would you recommend for that? Westside for Skinny Bastards? Or is there a better one out there?
Heard of masslifts? [sp]stronglifts with 0.5k cals over maintenance[/sp]
why not just say 500?
why not just say 500?
Ubermensch
What's WtF's opinion on steroids and other supplements with questionable legality? I haven't been here long, but I don't see much talk about them, certainly not compared to /fit/.
I don't have any problem with the sterons
the "passing out while doing traps" issue is resolved, but another problem arose - I can't work my traps because I can't even hold a dumbbell over 30 lbs because it starts massively hurting my fingers. A really uncomfortable strain that just gets worse and worse, I tried gloves too. I'm gonna bring two little towel things, wrap them around the weight and hold the towels with a grip that will probably make it much more comfortable. Debating if I should even bother signing up for another 3 months at the gym, I have so many issues in the gym, and much less time to do shit with friends, also I have to start looking for a job... Think I'll give it a try again when I'm older and my body is done growing and shit.
Heard of masslifts? [sp]stronglifts with 0.5k cals over maintenance[/sp]
Not really. Since Stronglifts is 5 reps per exercise its more strength training. For building mass you'd need a training plan with 6-12 reps in each exercise. Would it make sense to the strong lifts plan just with a little less weight and more reps?

Rational individuals shouldn't really care what other people do to their bodies. I don't see a purpose in using them myself because I'm not really in any rush to get big. I just enjoy lifting.

Might be a little easier on you since you don't have to do any stabilizing.
what is your diet like [editline]2nd March 2012[/editline] it seems you havent been eating nearly e nough if youre stalling already
3 normal sized Meals per day, I don't really have time to eat 5 meals. On workout days I eat a small meal 1 hour before my training and a normal sized one immediately after. The meal after my workout is usually very protein heavy, like chicken breast, eggs and all that. I'm not really counting calories, I don't have a clue how to do that...

EDIT: I'm home now. Here are the pics. Sorry for the shitty quality, the light isn't very good in my bathroom. Personally don't have a problem with the smart and informed/educated use of AAS.

I've used the basic stuff while cutting like clen (and now albuterol, which I just came off the first dose and it was great), but I've never dabbled into anabolics because I feel like I don't know enough about them/how to take them. Not about to stick a syringe in my ass without knowing every tiniest detail about what I'm doing.
