it seems there is some serious disparity in the definition of bulking around here. As I've defined it, it's just a caloric surplus large enough to support muscle growth. Done sensibly, you should not gain much bodyfat at all. Done well, your bf% may actually get lower.

My grip failed on my 5th rep of deadlifts.
I read multiple times doing kroc rows improves grip. Just wondering where you hold the dumbbell, in the palm or at the bottom of the fingers?
Also what rep and set scheme is good? I'm currently doing SSPP.

I wanna get to the level where I'm at the minimum fitness for the 2nd Commando Regiment (60 push ups in battle PT kit, less webbing and weapon; 100 sit ups (dressed as above); 10 chin ups (dressed as above)) I can currently do 40-ish pushups, 60 sit ups, and I don't really do chin ups so I have no clue, I think 5 on a good day.

Ive been going to the gym for almost a year now lifting weights and some bench pressing but i still haven't put on any considerable amount of muscle mass. Anyone got any advice?

1. How have you been eating this past year?
2. How have you been sleeping this past year?
3. What's your training routine like?

1. I go through phases where I eat a lot every meal and through phases where i dont eat a great amount.
2. My sleeping pattern has been fairly consistent going to bed around 11 and waking up at 7:45
3. At the moment 3 reps of bicep curls, fly, benchpressing along with other weight training which im not sure how to describe.

There's your problem.
Just start SS and counting calories. Maintenance + 300-500kcal

1. If by eating a lot you mean, 2000 calories a day from various, nutritionally insufficient food sources and then forgetting to eat for half the day, then you found issue #1 with your weight gain problem.
2. With no set routine, how do you expect to progress? Get yourself on Practical Programming routine, and be amazed.

There's no correlation between hypertrophy and strength. True, the bigger you get the stronger you are. But, it's still reasonable, more than reasonable, for a guy who's smaller to lift than a guy who's bigger. It's all due to neurological efficiency.

Oh no i'm eating constantly as in each meal i will eat something that is nutritious but sometimes not as much as the day before.
Can you suggest any links where I can find them? I tried google but I wasn't quite sure.

Its just annoying when i catch shit from DYEL kids here about my physique when they cant even bump a bodyweight bench. Not really referring to you. Im small because i ate wrong for ten months while still getting stronger. Also ate 26oz of prime rib just now. Come at me bros
