the fug is this. Straps, not full reps and a banana barbell but still that's fucking insane.
Lol at the location. Reminds me of my own gym and risks I take when it comes to weightlifting.
Quick noob question. Are bench presses interchangeable with push ups with added weight? Like, adding a few weights and stuff on a backpack and wearing it while doing push ups
Yes, they are a great exercise if you want to switch it up, but don't rely on doing weighted pushups. Also try to switch it up by putting your feet on a bench while doing them.. When starting deadlifts for the first time, should I go really light weight? I haven't worked my legs in a long time and just started getting into working my back again since I got ill so I am not able to lift as much. For deadlifts, I was thinking of keeping it at 115lbs or so.
That's way too light. At least use 135lbs so you have the 45's on each side. If you use anything smaller than the 45's, you're going to be fucking up your back because the starting position will be too low.

If your gym has them available then I guess. But seriously, that's ridiculously light. If you're that paranoid about getting hurt then drop deadlifts altogether and just do squats/leg isolations until they're back up to speed. Doing deads that light won't do anything for you.
Welp, Carb-up time here we go.

Regardless, if he just started working out using a light weight until his motor ways and technique are properly adjusted is a good choice. More muscles are activated during the dip and it has a larger carryover to the benchpress.
ok got it
I found this fat loss article the other day. I now understand the best times of the day to consume each macro to avoid catabolism. There is a lot of useful info here. muscleandstrength
oh boy here we go again...
enlighten me
Heya, quick update: been on top of things. I've only been back for three sessions so far, but I'm already starting to get back into the swing of things, and I'm again looking forward to my visits. I started at the bar for every exercise, and am going to take everything up as evenly as possible to shoot for more balanced development this go around. The only bummer is that my legs and ass are killing me because they aren't used to this yet. Super stiff! Past experience tells me that the stiffness will go away after a few more visits, so I'll just keep stretching and whatnot to alleviate the unpleasantness in the meantime.
Two more weeks of drinking and not lifting. After that I'm forced to start running and playing football. Lettuce enjoy it while it lasts.
I thought you already began staying clean and lifting again?
he has the willpower of a piece of bread or something idk
hey i have a drinking problem too, its all just about fitting it in your macros
Just drink really high proof stuff so you have to drink less of it. I like vodka with a bit of cranberry personally.
whiskey is by far the superior drink
I thought you already began staying clean and lifting again?
Nah I lied. I realize I'm not going to lift unless someone forces me to. I have been eating a little cleaner though and am cutting down on the drinking/ other shit. Also my last like 20 posts on here I've been PUI. I lol'd at the one about loading up on creatine, I don't even know where my creatine is at. And to be honest part of the reason I don't wanna lift is that I've gotten so much weaker.
And to be honest part of the reason I don't wanna lift is that I've gotten so much weaker.
"I don't want to get stronger because I've gotten weaker" How does that make any sense?
"I don't want to get stronger because I've gotten weaker" How does that make any sense?
Because it sucks going back into the gym not being able to squat 405 when you were squatting 525lbs for reps. I just don't feel like doing all the work to get back to where I was.
How often do you drink anyways?
I used to be drinking 4+ times a week. Less now.
heyoo..I'm new here...and not really big on lifting, yet. Want to get more serious and I've always had a nagging question that I get multiple answers for. Do you do Chest + Tris on the same day or Chest + Bis on the same day...and same with back...or does it not matter. And also, is the routine that was posted on the first page a good one to follow for a beginner? I'm almost 17 and I've been going to the gym on an off for like a month straight..trying to get serious for the summer and on though I can bench 145 about 10 times...lol. oh and I'm 5'8" 140
1. It's personal preference, but it is better to do chest and triceps on the same day since working your chest integrates the triceps as well. I personally do triceps the day after and can still go pretty heavy. 2. Haven't taken a look at the routine on the first page, but there are plenty or routines on the internet, or you can just google workouts on Bodybuilding forum etc. Benching 145 10 times for your weight:height ratio isn't necessarily that bad, but I can assure you that within a month or two of solid lifting, you could be up to 200lbs if not more. Oh and by the way, try not to focus just on the glam muscles (chest, triceps, biceps). Working your back and doing workouts such as squats and deadlifts will actually help with other muscle gains as well.
whiskey is by far the superior drink
either this or guzzling tequila. vodka is a lady drink [editline]29th May 2012[/editline] also my gaaaaaains
Tequila or Gin/tonic here. Anyways, I've been working technique the last two weeks and I'm completely free of back pain and such. On my squats, I wasn't pressing the hips/knees outwards enough when going up. On Deadlifts I didn't have the bar close enough to my shins. Only pain now, is my shins from grinding the bar up and down.
enlighten me
muscle tissue catabolism doesn't actually happen. Not in any time frame you'd be experiencing anyway. If catabolism doesn't occur in people eating a bare 1000 calories a day and not even training, it sure as shit doesn't happen in someone on a 500 cal deficit and still training multiple times a week. Catabolism is probably the most overstated bullshit in bodybuilding easily. "oh no bro I didn't eat my casein protein before bed, I'll lose all that hard earned muscle from a mere 8 hours of fasting!!! nevermind the excessive amount of proteins that are still in my bloodstream from lunch!!"
