Weightlifting/Bodybuilding Thread V.4 - I wanna look like that guy from Fight Club
4,391 replies, posted
Oh yeah, as a small mid update, my weight is currently in the 94-95 kg range, so I'm doing fairly well. The sad thing is that soon I'll have to go home again for an extended period and I'll bloat back to above 100 kgs.
What sort of workout would this guy have had to have done to get a physique like this?

After taking a closer look at the evidence, this form is acquired by blanketing your arms and shoulders with tattoos, military training at least to the point where you have the opportunity to take a picture in uniform, and the ability to put twins into your busted wife's vagina.

weak delts
Can anyone help me find that cartoony drawn illustrasion that was quite long and informative about different body types and stuff? It was posted in the sensational headlines sub forum a while ago in a related article. I would really appreciate it if anyone knows what i'm talking about.
I was thinking about the stronglifts 5x5 programs.
I got time to workout 3 times per week. But the stronglifts programs only includes squatting, bench and overhead press, barbell row and deadlifts. What about shoulders/traps/lowerback and shit. Also, at the end of the program, I should be able to lift a decent amount of weight. 275 lbs dl, mind full of wat. But I think it won't do much other then making me able to lift heavy shit. It won't make me that more muscled right?
SL5x5 works, and in order to build muscle, you need to be able to lift heavy things. All these compound movements hit pretty much every muscle in your body.
I spent one year on dumb Bodybuilding routines working out 5 days a week and got no where. When I switched to SL5x5 (with pullups/chinups added), I gained more muscle/strength in 2 months than I did in that entire year of bbing routines.
Sure, I can attribute some of that to fixing my diet, but still, my diet wasn't that bad before.
But eventually I would need to move to other types of triaining right? There has to be more to it than just these 5.
When I get home from vacation, I'm going to be drowning in diet and cardio to lose as much weight as possible honestly. Does anybody have any advice on how to make cardio tolerable? I can't keep a trotting pace for a few minutes without sweating, gasping, and aching. Yes I'm fat.
I do plan on spending most of my cardio playing basketball unless running would be better.
My Dad's routine from last nights show. He placed 1st. Sorry bout the camera quality/shake.

It all depends on your goals.... As of right now (1-2years) these are your best options for building strength and size.
snip wtf

The only DDR machine nearby is broken as fuark, I step to the side and the machine shifts twenty degrees. I don't have a console to play at home, and that'd be awkward to be playing with my parents home lol. They used to have one at the local movie theater, I was soo mad when they removed it. So now the closest one is like 30 minutes away, and it's in an expensive gaming arcade. If I go there to play DDR, it will be on occasion.
Thanks for the idea though, I fucking love DDR. I'm better than average too if I say so myself since I found interest in the game ten years ago. Extreme II is my favorite, I want to practice Afronova on expert since I can get a perfect score on standard.
I benched 225 recently weighing at 153 lbs. Pretty proud of my self.
what do you guys think about BCAA supps? I'm tempted to try out scivation xtend but i'm looking for some opinions.

They're kind of a fucking rip off.
They serve some specialized purposes, but nothing that the average gym going dude, or anyone really, would give a fuck about.
protein = amino acids. Whey protein has a huge profile of BCAAs.
To the point: they aren't going to make any kind of difference that I'd justify paying money for.
I don't think separate BCAAs are worth the price. Just take your whey.

Wow, I thought I was proud of myself for out benching my friends when we did burns. I weigh more than them, but it's all fat. I don't work out, while two of them are athletes (kickers in football) and one of them has a six pack.
But I guess it's everyone's own standards, haha.
So what's everyone's favourite tricep exercises?
I have a full body routine but i feel my arms are lacking.
I can do cable push-downs and close-grip bench press but for some reason when i try lying overhead extensions/skullcrushers or kickbacks they feel weird and uncomfortable. Probably just not doing them right i suppose
Same here, the skullcrushers/overhead extensions feel strange as if it's straining my muscles. I was told for the lying down skull crushers, I should keep my elbows as much as possible in. I personally like the cable pull downs(I think that's what they are called.)
Whey Protein Isolate vs. "Normal" vs. Hydrolysate?
I've searched it on google, and from what I saw it seems that isolate is just a low calorie version/more concentrated version of normal whey, and hydrolysate is absorbed faster...but I figured I would ask here to see if I missed anything about them. I noticed isolate and hydrolysate are also generally more expensive; are they worth it?

Hydrolysate is a fucking gimmick.
Read here:
tl;dr version: "Summing up: Hydrolysates are not only not superior to intact protein in terms of providing amino acids to skeletal muscle, they are distinctly inferior. Their fast digestion speed leads to greater digestive losses, more oxidation via deamination and provides less amino acids to skeletal muscle. That’s on top of tasting like vomit. Or at least making you want to."
Concentrate is fine. Isolate is good too.
woops forgot the link because i suck dicks irl

Does anyone know what (if any) effects a Sternotomy (the cutting in half of the sternum to access the heart) would have upon the way chest muscles function together? Just curious as I had one 2 and a half years ago and was wondering if it changed anything at all.
