I know that feel. And yes, with snatches i have to work with lower weights so i wouldn't get tired so soon. But lemme ask you, how you can't do ohp? Ohp requires only the barbell
It's a good idea to have a rack to put down the bar. Makes it so you can rest after a set and not use more energy by picking it up again. I mean even just positioning the bar a little too low can eat up energy before you even do your first rep. It may sound wrong since everything about the other exercises in 5x5 are about going as low as possible, but with overhead presses, the range of motion is different. It isn't from the floor to over your head, it's from your chest to over your head. You already know that, but I'm pointing it out just to say that you don't want to necessarily make it harder than it already is.
Finally got my foamroller, so I can work out a bit more than 4 times a week on my Oly-schedule.
2nd stronglifts workout today. I'm amazed at how sore my legs are even after just using an empty olympic bar - really shows how much I've neglected my legs! Anyway, question: I've always benched with my arms at a 45 degree angle from my body, so they form a sort of A shape from my head. One of the guys I got my power rack from said that was the wrong way to do it and my arms should be straight out in line with my shoulders. Does anyone have any insight on which way is correct? Having them in a straight line seemed tougher on my shoulders, but I'm not sure if that's just because I'm new to this.
So my brother is taking me along to the gym on friday to give me an introduction, and I'll most likely be exercising with him in the future.. I really want to gain some mass, since I'm 1.79m and 60 kg ( I'm a stick). My metabolism is keeping me from eating myself bigger, any advice?

I'm in the exact same boat as you but I'm starting to make progress. The best advice I can offer is to build up to eating massive amounts of food - Don't overload yourself on day one and then give up when your stomach can't fit it all in (or when it makes you sick!) I started drinking 2 litres of milk a day and adding 1 meal to what I would usually eat. After that I just gradually added more and more and now I'm on 4 litres and 4 extra meals. Baby steps
Okay, I'll try that. Any specific foods I should eat more of, or just generally more food?
Anything high in protein and or carbs. Don't limit yourself though, if you see something you want to eat, just eat it! I'm a big fan of tuna, bananas, mixed nuts etc. I also grind up oats and put them in my first two servings of milk for the day with some whey protein (far more cost effective than any mass gainer you'll buy). I can't stress the 'baby steps' thing enough though. If you go into this with an all or nothing attitude, you'll quickly end up on the nothing side of the fence - something I struggled with for a looong time. You want to incrementally add to your diet until you see gains.
Yeah and don't go from eating a ridiculous amount calories compared to what you're used to in 1 day or you will have a shit time trying to sleep

Doing the movement now in my chair puts a lot of strain on my shoulders. I wouldn't do it.
GOMAD is silly you don't need that shit. stop complaining about metabolism and just eat more
drinking a gallon of milk a day is the dumbest fucking idea why do so many people do it?
drinking a gallon of milk a day is the dumbest fucking idea why do so many people do it?
I can attest to this because I used to do it
drinking a gallon of milk a day is the dumbest fucking idea why do so many people do it?
Because being in a surplus is a concious effort, naturally people don't tend to eat in a surplus (anything besides carbs that is). Plus, drinking the calories is easier and overdrinking is always easier than overeating.

http://stronglifts.com/how-to-bench-press-with-proper-technique-avoid-shoulder-injuries/ Its literally a 8min video explaining why that dude is wrong.
drinking a gallon of milk a day is the dumbest fucking idea why do so many people do it?
I can't speak for everyone but it's working great in my case. I literally can't fit in all the meals I'd need to gain weight without gomad. I even went as far as getting a blood test one month in and it isn't having any negative effects on my body (as far as they could tell of course) - so why shouldn't I do it? Cheers
what is an accurate way to measure your body fat %? is there even one? i used one of those machines that measure your height, weight, and body fat % at my gym. it said i'm 7.40%, and i know for sure that's not true.
Haha, I tried one yesterday in spain and it told me I'm 22-23%
it's not good because you're gonna get fat, unless you're barely eating anything else [editline]17th October 2012[/editline] it's like this Great! You look exactly the same, just 20 lbs heavier and stronger. Also, is a gallon of milk what, 140, 150, grams of protein? Not worth it.
one, getting fat is unavoidable, the only thing in your control is how much Two, 150 grams is already overboard for some one weighing 140,30 lbs. A gallon is easy to consume for some, got a great amino acid profile and casein, its a good startegy for those who can endure it
drinking a gallon of milk a day is the dumbest fucking idea
no its not.
It's only dumb if you try to down it all within one hour and expect not to puke it right back up. Also, milk isn't cheap enough to drink a gallon daily. Is this like an intermittent thing or is it suppose to be done pretty consistently to produce results?
no its not.
It is if you want to stay relatively lean
It is if you want to stay relatively lean
abloobloo where did my abs no one cares about go
Okay, I'll try that. Any specific foods I should eat more of, or just generally more food?
Nuts, coconut oil, beef and the like are all good sources of extra calories. Also, take whey protein, add it to milk, put in a banana or some other fruit, a glob of peanut/almond butter butter or some coconut oil and whatever else you think sounds tasty, and then blend it all up to make a protein shake. Just anything that has lots of calories.
abloobloo where did my abs no one cares about go
theres no point in lifting if you get unaesthetic unless ur a fat powerlifting phaggot
theres no point in lifting if you get unaesthetic unless ur a fat powerlifting phaggot
I don't have abs for shit, my body looks fine at 6'1 and 180lbs but I want to get even bigger. Would rather look thick/solid/tight with a little bit of fat than eternally ottermode.
When bulking, if abs are showing, you aren't growing.
if you cant see your ab muscles either you're fat as fuck or have 12 year old girl abs underneath
When bulking, if abs are showing, you aren't growing.
why does everybody say this you can put on muscle without going up 2% in bodyfat every week you know
if you cant see your ab muscles either you're fat as fuck or have 12 year old girl abs underneath
Or your 260lbs and it's pretty obvious you won't have abs if your natural. I'm not fat as fuck nigga lol. gotta be heavy for sports motherfuckkkkk
