On a public computer just use incognito mode or the equivalent. I always use it on other computers to make sure I don't leave anything logged in
Why do you even need a logout button? The only reason to use it is if you're a naughty boy using alts or are using a public computer. [editline]7th July 2015[/editline] Ok so give me a reason for the logout button. Other than that somebody else is going to use the computer, give me a legitimate reason that isn't just "so it's there". that probably sounds a bit aggressive but i can't think of an actual reason to need it
Not everyone has their own dedicated computer, I know a friend of mine that has a shared laptop that is used by the whole family with it only having one windows account.

I think the log out button should just be put down the bottom, next to "Moderators" and "Top"

How is that not a good reason?
Why does it need to be a reason other than that? How is that not a good reason?
Because there are simple and easy ways to avoid that. The fact of the matter is, no one is forcing anyone to come to Facepunch so if logging out is a huge concern for you, either take those simple steps or don't come here. [editline]6th July 2015[/editline]
Bracing for the inevitable joke logout button, that instead of logging you out actually redirects you to a page with the text: "Never forget, you're here forever"
Click log out button Auto-ban for 1 hour
Why does it need to be a reason other than that? How is that not a good reason?
I'm not saying it's not. I legitimately wanted to know if people had any reasons other than that one obvious because judging by the dumb ratings the question got people feel strongly about this, and being in the situation where you have to share your computer isn't a terribly common one. Well I'm sorry if I came off as going "no fuck you for wanting a logout button deal with it". I just didn't think it was that big of a deal. Neutral standpoint I guess. The lack of a logout button has always been somewhat puzzling but it's always been one of those "things are this way because we said so" things about Facepunch.
Why do mods add "garrys bday" under the reason on many bans and permabans lately? What does it mean?
Why do mods add "garrys bday" under the reason on many bans and permabans lately? What does it mean?
They were unbanned for Garry's birthday - their last chance. They blew that last chance. [editline]6th July 2015[/editline] Fucking ki....
Why do mods add "garrys bday" under the reason on many bans and permabans lately? What does it mean?
People perma'd and unbanned for garry's birthday only have one chance. To show that, they get a perma with the reason "garry's bday" Fucking...
The fact of the matter is, no one is forcing anyone to come to Facepunch so if logging out is a huge concern for you, either take those simple steps or don't come here.
It's an unnecessary inconvenience for the group of people who need to be able to log out. Why do you want to keep this inconvenience? Is it purely because you're not in that group, and other peoples needs don't affect you?
They fucked up on a garry unban traditionally garrys birthday means every one except spammer and paedos user group gets unbanned they have 1 year to show they have reformed if they fuck up during that year they're gone
No. Spammers and even posters who've committed the worst crimes of moral turpitude get unbanned.

There's plenty ways around it and it's something FP has always had.
No. Spammers and even posters who've committed the worst crimes of moral turpitude get unbanned.
And usually get rebanned pretty quickly because if they're bad enough to flaunt it in the first place they're usually generally creepy enough to warrant another ban.
some people who are notorious shit posters/paedos get immediately rebanned on garry's birthday
Figured it was something like that. Although I'm not sure if that's definitive enough. Last chance until what, Garry's birthday again next year, or? Also the bday hasn't happened every year either. Anyways, I suggest that permanently banned users should only receive permanent bans, even for 1-hour bans, hardcore style. It might make the forum a better place, but probably not.
How come some people who got unbanned for the bday didn't receive permanent bans after fucking up post bday?
How come some people who got unbanned for the bday didn't receive permanent bans after fucking up post bday?
Yeah i've seen multiple people get banned once or twice since the unban and get away with it.
How come some people who got unbanned for the bday didn't receive permanent bans after fucking up post bday?
The rules and practices are not definitive enough. Moderators have feelings. Also corruption.
Yeah i've seen multiple people get banned once or twice since the unban and get away with it.
previous track record of not being a dick/minor offense?
How come some people who got unbanned for the bday didn't receive permanent bans after fucking up post bday?
Some bans aren't really important enough to warrant a perm again. Such as someone who truly is turning to a better poster accidentally posting a thread in the wrong section. Ban worth, but not necessarily worth throwing him away forever again.
If you got perma'd but come back and have cleaned up your act for a long enough time, a minor offense probably shouldn't get you re-perma'd.
The rules and practices are not definitive enough. Moderators have feelings. Also corruption.
Corruption is quite rampant in the Moderator industry. After all, it's a multibillion dollar industry.
How come some people who got unbanned for the bday didn't receive permanent bans after fucking up post bday?
depends solely on the user + the offence + reason they were originally perma'd
did all the threads that were ever articles get deleted? i remember th89 writing one directed at me (in a not awful way), wanted to see it again
depends solely on the user + the offence + reason they were originally perma'd
+ moderator's preference
make the forums have a hardcore day where every ban is a permaban

Besides for ban evasion and shit.
Corruption is quite rampant in the Moderator industry. After all, it's a multibillion dollar industry.
robotboy can we force mods to abide a lobbist disclosure act to end this shit? facepunch is probably rock bottom on the CPI
Last I checked alts are allowed though? Besides for ban evasion and shit.
remember one mod saying it's a mods discretion on alts, and can be pbanned if seen to prevent the alt being used for ban evasion. pretty rare to see an alt banned in that manner though.
