I'm just checking since I probably missed something, but did they remove seeing "last edited"?
i'd just really like to see chat threads be moved to a chat thread section and encourage more interesting threads of people telling stories/writing essays or something like BDA used to post quite a bit
Bringing back featured articles would be amazing, that was the best thing FP had an encouraged people to post decent threads in GD and other places
Having a list of tags by subforum might work. Games Discussion? Have alpha, beta, kickstarter, FPS, Adventure, Action, etc tags. General Discussion you could have music, tv-and-movie, general-chat tags. That sort of thing. The reason why I say that it could be restricted is because that would make having a simple menu of the common tags to select somewhere on the main page of the unsorted subforum could streamline things without getting into the area of minor variations on the same general tags.
Speaking of tags, how about being able to filter threads based on the icon? For example, if I'm looking for a particular map I know it has been released before on Mapping, but I can't remember the name, it would be really useful to be able to just see all the threads marked with "Release".
The ticker does do this, but only in real time. If you're not looking at the ticker, you don't see the notification. The proposed idea is to basically just to have a personal ticker that saves information related to you until it's cleared. Haven't heard back from Radar about whether or not this would be easily implemented, though.
An update on this: I've got the polling working through GreaseMonkey. Expect notifications soon!
Bringing back featured articles would be amazing, that was the best thing FP had an encouraged people to post decent threads in GD and other places
articles were good, they just needed to be changed out more
Bring it back. [editline]9th July 2015[/editline] Both the warnings, really. I feel the ban notification is a bit messy or working half the time, at least last time I got banned.

It might have happened :v: It's a year since I got banned and I'm not planning on checking it out.
They brought back a pop up with details and stuff but it doesn't give you a combined heart attack and seizure like the old one did.
They brought back a pop up with details and stuff but it doesn't give you a combined heart attack and seizure like the old one did.
But that was the best part.
Nearly the entire point of it. And we need the thread warning so people can get longer bans for shit threads.
would be cool to have a warning similar to "YOU'RE GOING TO GET BANNED" come back again. who knows, it might prevent some stupid threads from coming about.
But that was the best part.
I never said it wasn't :v:
http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1475206 Can I be so bold as to suggest making Facepunch better by not banning people for thinking something is fucking incredible without having written an essay about why they think it?
That's fucking incredible. (User was banned for this post ("No content? Don't reply" - Craptasket))
Or for asking an entirely valid question?
Where could this help compared to current sizes? (User was banned for this post ("Bandwagon reply - And knew it" - Craptasket))
Or for pointing out on-site that someone got banned for asking a valid question - and answering said question in the same post?
What makes this a bandwagon reply? He asked a legitimate question. I think it's more power efficient (User was banned for this post ("This isn't the place to discuss bans" - Starpluck))
If your intent is to spur discussion, this isn't the way to do it.

Or for asking a valid question? If your intent is to spur discussion, this isn't the way to do it.
It's clear that Craptasket is trying to pre-emptively crack down on any posts that don't offer much, but a lot of the posts that people are getting banned for are pretty standard SH posts, or in Ratboy's case the result of being extremely trigger happy since he did absolutely nothing wrong. I wouldn't be surprised if Craptasket didn't even look at this post before banning him. There's got to be a better way than the shotgun tactic of indiscriminate banning and then probably banning anybody who goes "hey that ban seems unreasonable" for being off-topic. There's surely a happier medium than this..
He snipped his stupid bandwagon reply. He deserved it. [editline]9th July 2015[/editline] Bandwagon has always = ban
He snipped his stupid bandwagon reply. He deserved it.
So he made a stupid reply, quickly decided it was stupid (quickly enough that he was banned only after changing it) and changed it to something that could have actually caused discussion except now everyone's banned.
I'm still not entirely sure why ratings were removed from SH. I thought the entire point of ratings was to remove useless "I agree" "This is dumb" "Hilarious" posts, no?
He snipped his stupid bandwagon reply. He deserved it. [editline]9th July 2015[/editline] Bandwagon has always = ban
I'm pretty sure that moderators can see your edits, and the guy snipped a bandwagon reply. You can't snip a bannable thing and expect to get away with it and I like that. [editline]9th July 2015[/editline]
So he made a stupid reply, quickly decided it was stupid and changed it to something that could have actually caused discussion except now everyone's banned.
His mistake was posting the bandwagon post in the first place. It's bannable and he did it, so he got a ban.
He snipped his stupid bandwagon reply. He deserved it. [editline]9th July 2015[/editline] Bandwagon has always = ban
Uh, stop me if I'm wrong, but snipping your post because you realised you said something that would get you banned doesn't seem to be something that you should discourage. That seems like arresting somebody for shoplifting if they picked it up, thought about it, and then put it back down.
Step down.
So what? He changed it, it didn't cause any harm, you banned the guy who went ??? and answered it. I'm not seeing any positives. Furthermore, users cannot see what you can see, or even that the post was edited, so that ban looks like a scattergun ban that hit a bystander. That's not going to encourage discussion at all.
So what? He changed it, it didn't cause any harm, you banned the guy who went ??? and answered it. I'm not seeing any positives.
I banned him when it was unedited. He must have changed it as I was banning him. Wouldn't have mattered anyway.
Why were edit messages removed anyway? Useful to see when someone snips a dumb post or to check when the OP of a megathread was last updated, etc.
i thought RBB did though?
nah only tells you that your banned when your viewing threads in guest mode it's not eye grabbing at all, just a dialogue box that sits above the thread displaying VB's normal ban layout then areas on how to apply for an unban/reduction
Why were edit messages removed anyway? Useful to see when someone snips a dumb post or to check when the OP of a megathread was last updated, etc.
I don't think they were removed, let me test quick. Test. ^Added during an edit. [editline]9th July 2015[/editline] Huh, I suppose they are gone.
Uh, stop me if I'm wrong, but snipping your post because you realised you said something that would get you banned doesn't seem to be something that you should discourage. So evidently removing ratings changed nothing about how people post in SH. Just remove the subforum already, nobody is ever satisfied with it anyways. (User was banned for this post ("Did not read the title" - Starpluck))
Craptasket, you should probably define in no uncertain terms what a pointless or "low-content" post is. The thing is, people have always made "wow neat" and other short posts in SH so Sensationalist Headlines is going to be a meatgrinder for the next few days as people realise that all of a sudden that's banworthy. It's critical that you're specific about what constitutes a pointless post in a way that people can't dispute. Right now you're being too brief and I suspect that the only way to learn is going to be to lurk and watch people get banned en-masse for seemingly innocent things.
I don't think they were removed, let me test quick. Test. ^Added during an edit. [editline]9th July 2015[/editline] Huh, I suppose they are gone.
IIRC, edit times appear if you edit your post 5+ minutes after you initially post it.
