Making Facepunch better - Don't post about ratings
5,003 replies, posted
What I usually do is tap the post, then the ratings come up, then I rate. But like I said this sometimes goes wonky when there are too many different types or ratings on a post.
We should honestly have Dota and CS:GO subforums if TF2's gonna keep theirs. They're both way more active and popular than TF2, why should they be restricted to 1 thread?

Think subforums that have a lowercase description could get updated to have an upper case? Its kinda not a big deal, but its annoying.[/QUOTE]

This is very mildly irksome

is it possible to make mentions stack up like ratings in the ticker? that'd be useful imo

hopefully not until name mention rules are refined, I'm not too keen on catching up on the last 10 times someone mentioned dailymail
[QUOTE=Ehmmett;47773774]Make the enhanced ticker userscript official.[/QUOTE]
What enhanced ticker userscript?
[QUOTE=dai;47773580]hopefully not until name mention rules are refined, I'm not too keen on catching up on the last 10 times someone mentioned dailymail[/QUOTE]
shouldve stayed as daijitsu

the ticker? its here [url]http://facepunch.com/fp_ticker.php[/url] or in the more tab up top
my title was supposed to be a halloween only title
[editline]21st May 2015[/editline]
I delayed the change for too long
[QUOTE=Clovis;47773925]also, how can we change our "website"? i dont see the option for it anywhere. sorry if its in an obvious spot in the settings but i looked and could never find it[/QUOTE]
under optional info in the "homepage url" section [url]http://facepunch.com/profile.php?do=editprofile[/url]

good to point out- it's in the admin panel, but not the user info page

someone else noted earlier but the bugger won't save unless you've got http:// or www. in there because it won't accept them as a website or something. Consistency in profile editing options would be appreciated. also tumblr
well my title was the result of me putting this thing in Title Giveaway on a raffle website a Facepuncher(TheDivinity) made, and after I fucked up the title that I made for myself I got that one, and, well, it's still here. It would be nice to have that back but it's obviously not in the hands of robotboy to decide as he said.
[QUOTE=~Kiwi~v2;47773894]i'm sick of denying what i really am

"[del]I deny that[/del] I'm a Weebo Warrior" ?
would it be possible to fix ratings on Wii U? i have to click on empty space within a post to simulate a mouseover to make them appear, and often times they get all mixed up in the edit/reply buttons.
I find the best way to rate on mobile is to just zoom as far possible in and then carefully touch the rating. And ratings don't show for me unless I first click on the post.
[QUOTE=DrTaxi;47772560]Another issue: image.php won't always output the most recent avatar for someone without a current dateline parameter (no, it's not a clientside cache issue). So the avatars on the front page are sometimes outdated.
The postbit obviously does this right, so you should just be able to copy code from there.[/QUOTE]
The caching on the front page should be already solved.
[QUOTE=DrTaxi;47771931]As for something that's not icons:
Can we get a syntax highlighting BBCode for several common languages?
[code][code][/code] only does Lua (I believe) and looks really weird for anything that isn't Lua. The ability to specify a language would be nice.[/QUOTE]
It "detects" what code is typed in automatically. "detects" because the detection might not be any good.
[QUOTE=LordCrypto;47771948]something that is relatively fixable:
there's like three different versions of memberpage: member.php?u=123, members/123, and members/member.php?u=123
can you fix it so it's all member.php?[/QUOTE]
Isn't it just the rewrite engine or some shit? I won't bother looking into that.

avatar links on homepage use /members/, names in posts use member.php
[QUOTE=Ehmmett;47773802][url]http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1443480[/url]
It's in this thread.[/QUOTE]
I think it's fine as it is. That script makes it hideous. Better keeping it optional.
[QUOTE=Robotboy655;47774201]The caching on the front page should be already solved.[/QUOTE]
I'm aware you removed the dateline parameter, but unfortunately that doesn't work.
[url=http://facepunch.com/image.php?u=54751]Without the parameter, image.php shows dai's old rocket avatar.[/url]
[url=http://facepunch.com/member.php?u=54751]On the user page (and in postbit etc.), the correct new avatar is shown[/url]
[quote]It "detects" what code is typed in automatically. "detects" because the detection might not be any good.[/quote]
Fair enough; being able to force a language ([code=javascript], [code=cpp] etc.), and perhaps a better highlighter would be nice though.
[QUOTE=Robotboy655;47774201]It "detects" what code is typed in automatically. "detects" because the detection might not be any good.[/QUOTE]
Not a big deal, but couldn't we do a flag to manually specify it? E.g. [code=Lua]Lua Code[/code]

My company has gone bankrupt but my title still
[QUOTE=Winner;47777187][t]https://i.imgur.com/Q1jcpEW.png[/t]
the previous page button (<) is messed up, there should be a border[/QUOTE]
I've still got the border on mine.
Is that bottom or top?
[QUOTE=Winner;47777234]bottom and top, border's only missing when there's no "next" button
it's a minor nitpick but hey still worth fixing
[code].prev_next>a {
border-left-width: 1px !important;
}[/code][/QUOTE]
Are you getting it on this page? As this is what I see
[IMG]http://i59.tinypic.com/ifzkg0.png[/IMG]
[QUOTE=Winner;47777364]looks like it's a bug with chrome, this is from the computed styles of the "first" button:
[t]https://i.imgur.com/elSbUgx.png[/t]
there should be a border on the right according to this, but chrome isn't rendering it[/QUOTE]
It may be a bug with chrome and Hi-DPI screens.
Your pagination looks much bigger than mine at 1920x1080
I believe it's because it is an weird width (half a pixel).

Edit: Yes, it is.

It's terrible. Having the option to force plaintext would be nice too.
There are currently also [csharp] tags but I think they're just an alias.

A fix for this would be setting the #content_inner margin to a fixed value (12px?) rather than 1%.
Only difference is that it will no longer scale to browser width but it barely did before. 1% is tiny.
