If you call arbitrarily removing features and subforums logical, then it's a logic that makes sense only to him since I don't think I've ever seen a single person support any of his decisions to randomly remove things.
Removing subforums and labpunch to reduce database sizes and server load (and crashes) sounds logical
Who wants to be shown as American either
I don't want a flag. I just want it to be changed to an icon of fire. I was born in hell.
and at this point my old avatar is still being cached
afaik the last cache flush was done manually, no system has been put up to recache avatars atm
His actions generally do have logic behind them. It's just unpopular logic is all and he realizes that whatever changes he makes people are going to complain no matter what so he doesn't bother trying to appease them at all.
I was on the fence about the removal of the subforums at the time but after a few months of them being in GD I really quite like it, because more people see the threads now and it means that we get more active discussion in those threads. Its been a great change in that regard.
Removing subforums and labpunch to reduce database sizes and server load (and crashes) sounds logical
labpunch would not have contributed anything to database size subforums have a negligible affect on db size (a few KB max) and have no impact whatsoever on serverload there is no technical reasoning behind removing subforums.
labpunch would not have contributed anything to database size subforums have a negligible affect on db size (a few KB max) and have no impact whatsoever on serverload there is no technical reasoning behind removing subforums.
Size matters when making queries, bigger your bases, longer your queries take. Now remember labpunch was an alternative way to query the database
Size matters when making queries, bigger your bases, longer your queries take. Now remember labpunch was an alternative way to query the database
a subforum is literally a single row in the database query time would not take any sort of hit except for where subforums are returned. and even then, you're querying * so.. only memory would be affected, and like I said prior, that'd be like 1-2KB max. (and that's probably an overestimate anyway) labpunch would have def increased server load due to the socket implementation, but in the end, like you said, it's just another way to query the db.

Is there any way we can get thumb-able [vid] tags, just so that large videos don't always end up taking up so much space in a post?
Is there any way we can get thumb-able [vid] tags, just so that large videos don't always end up taking up so much space in a post?
I fail to see why you want the video player to be even smaller. Might as well just post the link instead of embedding the video.
I fail to see why you want the video player to be even smaller. I am not sure how its any different from pictures.
https://i.imgur.com/EnrWs9g.png
yeah but its a dry heat
Now remember labpunch was an alternative way to query the database
IIRC Labpunch was a system that duplicated the database into Cloudsearch, so you queried a completely different system than the forums.
why did you have to use a video of 2 dogs fucking
Trying to fuck.
Trying to fuck.
no they are definitely fucking dogs get locked together during sex to ensure impregnation provided neither are fixed, that is literally a video of a dog being impregnated
Meanwhile in the "Making Facepunch Better" thread
dogs get locked together during sex to ensure impregnation
Things are going swimmingly
yeah but its a dry heat
so is a fire
so is a fire
Misconception, most fires are a product of an organic reaction, which gives of water as well as carbon dioxide :eng101:
