Making Facepunch better - Don't post about ratings

Maybe like, if you have <10 post you have to do a reCaptcha
We could do this:
* Person joins Facepunch, makes thread asking for help with game.
* Person is told thread needs to be checked by a moderator before it is viewable by the public because of spambots.
* If they're not a spambot (and not breaking some other rule like posting a thread for a game that already has a megathread), whatever moderator sees it first approves it.
* Person gets help and is happy.
That sort of thing (sometimes called "thread moderation") is a pretty common scenario, vBulletin should already support it.
I don't know if moderators are willing to check ~50 unapproved threads

Or if any will be around to go through them all. Imagine a user waiting 3 days in queue for their thread to be approved.

That's true, many ban appeals are left unanswered even if it's a genuine appeal and not just "Mods suck ur all fags!" It seems only a select few even look at the RC.

best idea, solves everything

Best way to clear out the RC of shit like that is to permaban anyone who makes a "Mods suck dicks" thread in the RC regardless of whatever their original offense was.
1 hour ban > "Mods you are faggots" > Permaban
And after that, no one will risk making a shitty RC thread again. It'll actually be worth the Mod's time to look up actual appeals.
Did the thread lists all get squished up vertically? Everything feels much closer together for me.
If this is an intentional change I'd argue that it's not a great one; academic texts and novel manuscripts are often double spaced for readability. It's also a general principle when it comes to UX. At the mo it feels pretty cramped
I think just "You need 10 posts before you can make start thread" period a requirement, of course barring a few subforums. It would prevent people just spamming GC with "Hi I'm Fapplejack and I'm glad to join your forum! :)" and "EROTIC MLP FNAF RP RUST SERVER LINK IN POST" threads because they need to lurk to get to 10 posts.
Also yeah swap [sp] and [sp2]. Facepunch has gotten over their sp2 circlejerk sessions and sp2 is just so much better in general.
Maybe make it so it has increased blur on bigger pics. DAAS showed me that just because you have a picture of Scout getting fucked by a pony OC sp2 doesn't blur it enough and you can still see it's Scout getting fucked by a Pony OC.
I noticed that the mediatag doesn't work with LiveLeak videos, it's been broken forever.
Quoting myself in case it was missed.
Any chance of improving the video tags for LiveLeak videos?

sp2 was removed because it was too inconsistent with compatibility as opposed to sp which works fine everywhere
Hey Robot, thanks for all your love and time to provide features for simple mortals like us!
I'm running into a issue though, the ratings seems to disappear when automerge goes in, did the behaviour was always like that? i can't remember for sure

All a user has to do is post "snip" in 10 different threads, perhaps over the course of an hour or two, and no one will notice.

If they know what -snip- is then they know how to post a thread that isn't massive shit.

Quite a few forums use "snip".

mods can see edit history

i'm saying, they'll know if it was a legit 'snip' or not

not true, mods cant see edits if you edit within a few minutes

i know, but if mods see that all you posted was "snip" for the last 10 posts, they will know something is up
anyways there will always be a way to get around any system

While that's true, I don't see mods going and looking over every single post that says that.
There's just soooo many posts made every moment, it's impossible for the mods to catch everything. There's many posts worthy of bans that are made and let go over time because there's just such a quantity.
All a user has to do is post "snip" in 10 different threads, perhaps over the course of an hour or two, and no one will notice.
Not even inconspicuous. If you posted snip in 10 different threads upon joining, you will be permabanned.
Having a post-quota before you can start a new thread is always going to invite meaningless spam, either ruining existing threads or clogging 'pictures of you'-style threads with slush
They will be banned if it is meaningless in-thread spam, and the alternative was much worse; meaningless new-thread spam.
The now required 10-post history before making threads is supposed to tell us, "Did this user make 10 bad posts in less than 30 minutes in order this post his dubious thread?" Now the thread wouldn't even be dubious, his frequency and quality will the smoking gun.
I brought up visitor comments before with avatars using the &type=thumb (which turns animated into static)
It's odd how when you post a comment, it displays a resized version of the normal version, until you refresh that is, then it's back to thumbs

If it took you ten years to get 20k posts then you're pretty fucking bad at it mate no offense
Truth, but it's because I spent more of my time having sex with your mother.
Go to your room.
That's right: full-on diaper sex.
did you remove the "last edited by" limit? i liked that, i could edit out a typo without anyone noticing
I know it'd still put it there if you give some kind of reason to the edit. [editline]aaaaaaa[/editline] Actually you're right, seems to be always doing it now.
Limit before was 15 min, it's now 0 min.

Is there a limit for how many times you can edit a post? Don't think I've ever edited a post of mine over 5 times.
