Making Facepunch better - Don't post about ratings

Recently, when I go to a link such as http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1465833&p=47978374#post47978374, it'll actually not be at the post itself, but one post above, sometimes more or less. Even when the page doesn't have pictures, but I'm 100% sure this worked before...
Is it only with posts near the bottom of the page?
Could we get this on the read threads page? Sometimes it's nice to be able to read a bit of the OP before you open the thread.

Then it's probably because the page already is at the bottom :v:

No, there's plenty of room below the post. I'm on a 1080p monitor, if I scroll all the way to the bottom the last post usually is only partially in the screen.

Scrolled all the way down

When visiting a link, sometimes it's even more up than this

While this URL goes to the post immediatly, and leaves it at top

Might be a combination of hitting the bottom and then avatar images loading.

Nonetheless, should be fixable.

If it's what I think it is, not without some degree of pain.
Why does the URL on this post have a <b></b> tag? I used about:config.

It might be a security feature to make sure you don't lead inexperienced people into the config if they don't know what it does (?)

The way it works now is as soon as the page loads, the browser scrolls to the anchor point (as specified in the "#post00000000" part of the URL). The problem is the browser's concept of "the page has loaded" ends at "I've received and rendered all the HTML the server has sent me", which doesn't account for images.
Normally, this isn't an issue, as it's considered good practice to define the image dimensions in your HTML so your browser knows how big the element is supposed to be (or at least it was last I checked). This forum however, whether it's because vBulletin doesn't support it by default or just because Garry turned it off for whatever reason, doesn't define those dimensions.
There are two ways we can fix it:
* Some sort of JavaScript to rescroll to the post after all the images have loaded (uglier, but potentially faster to implement)
* Define all the image dimensions in the HTML. With avatars this is easy, as generally avatars are uploaded to the server, but with post images it becomes harder, since we'd have to fetch the image serverside at least once to get the dimensions, and we would have to define width and height attributes for [img], which I'm not sure vBulletin understands by default, and we would have to insert them into the post if the user doesn't define them. The exact amount of work this all is depends on how much of it has already been implemented for us in some fashion or another (I know automatic post editing is implemented, as [media] is already replaced with [vid])
can we get a like rating? that way we can say we like a post without agreeing with it

all of these say you like a post, with more context as to what's likeable

a few others could apply as likable reasons in certain contexts, but overall these are the positives
we still need 👌 as a rating
Would we use it for "perfect", or "wanker" ?

i think in places like SH where people are often discussing their different views on stuff, it could be nice to recognize something as being well formed or well written rather than using those
[sp]also yeah hi found my way back in to my gold account, ban my old one if you want[/sp]
Would we use it for "perfect", or "wanker" ?
Well we use for both "optimistic" and "gay", so...
Would we use it for "perfect", or "wanker" ?
perfect wanking
How about ratings for 'top lad', 'unreal scenes', 'absolute banter' and 'cheeky nandos'?
Let's add a rating that replace every possible response anyone might have to any kind of post ever.
People could rate posts with a special rate button where you can type a custom rating name and upload a custom icon for it and if anyone else would rate it the same they'd just click on the icon.
[sp]this will be a mess nobody should do that[/sp]
Allow each gold member to create their own rating with their own text and icon.
How could that possible go wrong.
Allow each gold member to create their own rating with their own text and icon.

goatse x 1
Have a spoiler rating that hides posts that get many of them.
That could get abused so easily.
Have a spoiler rating that hides posts that get many of them.
that would end up being like downvote on reddit.
Let's add a rating that replace every possible response anyone might have to any kind of post ever.
imagine thinking this (x8)
a raptr profile badge would be nice

the upside of having your own forum is that you can add dank memes as ratings
Let's add a rating that replace every possible response anyone might have to any kind of post ever.
You can only post in emojis
You can only post in emojis
how about the body of posts are just the rating icons and we rate them with posts
