Making Facepunch better - Don't post about ratings
And that's the problem, it loads an entire thread. Sometimes the thread is filled with pictures, and when those pictures load it offsets the browser position and suddenly the person you linked the post to has no idea which post to look at.
Why not just do a highlight/accent colour of the single post?
vBulletin 3.8.x had the option to enable "post only view" where the page loads in just a single post, but 4.x doesn't. Perhaps there is a way of implementing this?
It's both economic and pro-environmental as a dark screen takes up less energy than a bright white screen.
There really isn't any reason for a website to not have such a feature.
I don't think that's true for displays that are not OLED

Please no.
Instead, we should have a red highlight for linked posts.

Or two links, where the original one would have the red highlight like you said;
The ultimate lavish solution would be a single post view with a bar above that would say "Load rest of the thread" which would, without reloading the page, fetch the rest of the posts.
It could also come with a fountain and suck my cock while it's at it.

Actually, there is a css selector for target, but if I remember correctly, it doesn't work right on chrome (xpaw put in a bug report).
But it means that posts can have a different background gradient, so they are identifiable if it's scrolled past
The problem what I've run into is that the target is literally the permalink element, instead of the post.
And it's plenty of trouble to select a parent element through css alone
wheras, if the target was #post_xxxx instead of #postxxxx, it would be a post easier
starpluck said that they're coming back

That'd be great

I swear FP had that single post thing a long time ago, that's probably why its gone.

No custom forums while we are on vbulletin.

What does custom forums mean?
Forums made by normal members...?
What does custom forums mean?

a while ago, users with a certain amount of posts could make their own subform
most were dumb/died quickly, others stayed around for a while
What does custom forums mean?

yeah, there used to be forums made by users. most of them have been removed though
I'd link you to the old "nforum" event page but it seems to have been removed along with the rest of the old ones (bani, bansm). What's the deal with that, Robotboy?
a picture of what it was like (from wikipunch)

Ah good old vB3 FP. :v:
my god that looks awful
the fix would be to ban people who made dumb forums
[DEL]Where's the thread for Hannibal TV series?[/DEL] nope nvm, why
Where's the thread for Hannibal TV series?
why are you asking us instead of just searching for it??
http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1259106&highlight=Hannibal
I was confused and I was scared and I'm sorry.
I wish we still had AUATF, I have a question (and I'm sure many others do) but it's not thread worthy or worth asking a mod about. The thread was really useful.
A couple of new (old) sub-forums dedicated to something like films&TV wouldn't make Facepunch a worse place though..
But not too many sub-forums, because then you're forced back to using the previous layout for ease of browsing the main page.

when garry closed that thread he wanted everyone that had questions to make general discussion threads about them
when garry closed that thread he wanted everyone that had questions to make general discussion threads about them
Garry makes no sense half the time, he wants to make the forums less useable half the time when he updates the forums.
