are the forums switching software at some point? xenforo?
I would totally not mind a complete forum software switch. Could be refreshing.

i'm all for xenforo, i was on a forum that used it for a while recently and it's really nice
closing major update speculation in the tf2 subsection

Will we ever see the return of (a) Boostar(-like system)?

If I remember correctly, the taxes were a pain to calculate and someone decided it wasn't worth it.

Add an option to ban yourself for a dollar and see how many people think it's joke and that it must do something else
It would be like a 24/7 idiot cull

You sir, have a brilliant mind.
make it for a special week(christmas) and just shove it there
where it bans you for the entire week of christmas
perma or bust
BUT I THOUGHT IT WOULD DO SOMETHING ELSE PLEASE UNBAN

it literally said it would ban you lol

perma or bust
then make it 50$ to buy gold to view the RC
But have a delay on the bans so more people fall for it.
One of the problems with the idiot cull was mods would ban straight away so everyone quickly realised.
Yeah except literally anyone would realize it was legit when they have to actually enter in PayPal information. Just do a "don't click this" button like we did five years ago that bans you when you click it

Uh every idiot cull I remember doing had a delayed start. Like that 2b2t shit lmao
Mods are gonna have a field day with the Discourage feature on XenForo if that ever is applied.
seriously, xenforo rules. the notification system/@mentioning is really great, plus you don't have to keep up with a read thread menu; if it sends you an alert that someone responds to a thread and you don't click it, it stops notifying you. nice and simple.

Why would anyone want a notification because someone just made a post? I want to look at the thread when I want to, and have it accumulate even if I have noticed but didn't have the time to check it now.

well, it still has thread subscriptions, you can turn the notifications off, and it's only the first post after the last one you read
You act like Garry is going to ok a forum switch. A switch would open pandora's box of issues

it's something he said would happen eventually, i think he either hadn't seen one he liked or wanted to make a custom one

He definitely wants to replace vbulletin, that's why he started making labpunch, although he has no time or will to continue that on his own and discontinued the project.

OR just thought of it so more and said No and didn't tell us

I absolutely loved the search feature on Labpunch, so much better than the current one.

i think we need to get garry's attention
RUST SUCKS
garry hire me and I'll make you a vbulletin-compatible-ish homebrew forum
Firefox Nightly doesn't resize quotes.
I am on a small screen as it's one of those tablet laptop hybrids though so that might be why.

we've had more than just labpunch, a few of the systems garry dinked about with were pretty smooth and I'm sad we didn't make the push for it. I wonder if any of the decisions not to move were swayed by a lack of ability to transfer user accounts from here to the new one. Just opening new user registration and forcing FP members to manually push themselves to the new site would deter a lot of people from wanting to move to the new system as they'd lose their FP history, be it membership or title or post count or general recognizeability. God forbid a shitton of idiots managed to park user's names to troll it up
The user discouragement feature subjects users to random errors, delays, and pages, simulating failures in the system behavior, with the ultimate aim of making them eventually leave the site.
yesssssss

I wonder why FireFox thinks it's the smartest around and uses different default CSS styles than the rest of the world.
