I love how Discourse looks.

Ya, and twitch's developer forums run it as well.
Isn't Tek Syndicate running this?

Yeah Tek Syndicate uses it, Discourse is inspired a lot by Vanilla's design which the Star Citizen forums use but focuses more on a "pool of topics" instead of having sections, it's better for larger more specialised forums but don't feel it'd work for Facepunch even though it supports categories.
Plus Discourse is hard to modify.
most people are recognized around here for their avatar more than anything
i've also got the distinction of my useragent and that ain't changing
so as long as everyone used the same (or similar) avatar at first i don't imagine recognizability to be an issue
Odds are avatar sizes would be changed drastically, resulting in everyone having almost all new avatars.
I usually know people by their names first, mostly through quoting them and seeing their name that way. I identify people's names and the associated way they post more than avatars because most of the time I'm looking at the posts themselves than the user info/avatar area on the left.
Can u delete fast threads
Can u delete fast threads
Can? Yes.
Should? No.
Can u delete fast threads
fast threads is a shithole
but it's a hole all shit gets thrown in instead of people throwing shit in better sections
Can u delete fast threads
You wouldn't get rid of a bathroom in a building and expect people to just hold their groins. You'll end up with shit all over other people's desks.
I think it would be a fine idea to give users who have been here 10 years (only a few this year and next will really get this applied) to get some sort of recognition for being on the site so long.
Maybe a little golden "10" under their post count or something?
I still have 4 years until I would reach that, but I think it's pretty awesome we still have users posting around here from during the creation of the site, having survived all the smartness, idiot culls, mods-gone-mad events, and still be posting well enough to not get themselves perm'd.

well, i mean, we've had multiple mass unbannings over the last 11 years

While true, those are almost always "last chance" unbans, most of the people unbanned by Garry's birthday this year have already been thrown back in their cells. I'm pretty sure having survived something like that is worth something.
Besides, I'm pretty sure that would only constitute a small portion of the number receiving the "10", with most being honest users that most likely honestly deserve it.

i hate being a 13'er so much

Fast threads should at least be remade to actually be about fast questions, ones that google just can't answer
"Post your" threads ruin it
well, i mean, we've had multiple mass unbannings over the last 11 years
even then, most of those people are still perma'd
most genuinely shitty people always end up getting perma'd eventually

i started the first would you fuck the above user's avatar thread on one of my other accounts
i actively feel like i'm destroying facepunch every time someone posts in an interation of that fucking thread

What about threads such as wayt? That one is a bit too general and spammy at times to go in gd but it also isn't a question thread.
it sounds like it'd be a funny single thread, see what funny things people would say, and then people made it a serious thing
I OCCASIONALLY try and see the point in those threads (post your threads), by making a post, every time it just gets ignored and there's a feeling of absolute disappointment
it's just a proverbial shitshow of dumb posts, it's never worth it to even read those threads, let alone post in one

WAYT has intelligence in it more than "X the above poster"
people are actually socializing more than the "Post your" robots

I regret waiting so long to make my account. I could have been an 04 instead.

This is the first time I seen someone make an exclusive award suggestion where the criteria did not apply for him on the spot.
Instead, a recognition should be awarded for someone who has posted for over 10 years with no bans whatsoever.

going ten years without a ban or ten years with absolutely no bans on the account whatsoever?
This is the first time I seen someone make an exclusive award suggestion where the criteria did not apply for him on the spot.
what about a zukriuchen award given to all users who are zukriuchen
going ten years without a ban or ten years with absolutely no bans on the account whatsoever?
The latter. Wrongful bans would have it manually applied to the account.

Why do people think this something that is hard to achieve? Aside from the Mods gone mad events, after the smartness system it's pretty easy not to get perma'd, I've had maybe 5-6 temporary bans throughout my 10 years here. Some misunderstandings, some because I was an idiot, some because this forum is run differently than others and it's easier to make mistakes that you'd get away with on other forums.
The latter. Wrongful bans would have it manually applied to the account.
wouldn't that just encourage making alts to use on the long term? pretty much everyone's account is already soiled then
wouldn't that just encourage making alts to use on the long term? pretty much everyone's account is already soiled then
Should be applied-for then. We do have sleeper accounts.
Should be applied-for then.
what if it's minimal bans? maybe infrequent, low duration bans should be fine? like if you got banned for 12 hours for calling someone a dick in lmao pics that's kind of a dumb thing to get held up over
The latter. Wrongful bans would have it manually applied to the account.
Is there actually any active user that fits that criteria? There's very few users I can think of without at least a ban or two and the oldest of those has an '08 account.

Plus, can they really be considered true facepunch members if they haven't been banned at least once :v:
There's probably a maybe handful of 05ers that have a clean sheet.

No legitimate violations, also significantly eases load on the manual application process.

Yep, since 2005.
Yep, since 2005.
let me guess, it's postal
Dammit. How about people with less than 5 bans and 10 years?
