Wait, did I miss something? You can't get gold anymore? :o
Wait, did I miss something? You can't get gold anymore? :o
from forum contests
Wait, did I miss something? You can't get gold anymore? :o
Not through the boostar shop, yes. It's still being given out as a prize for forum contests (infrequent though they may be)
Upon clicking "# new posts" in fp_read, is anyone else being redirected to an older post as opposed to the most recent unread one? This is not the browser simply loading too slowly, I am getting redirected to some posts up to a page behind.

That's how it works everywhere, even in the control panel. I believe that's how it's supposed to work.
names get cut off if they are long
Yes, I would, because apart from personal satisfaction that you've been here for x amount of time, Join date means fuck all, I've seen terrible posting long term users and fantastic new users and vice versa. Hell, the only time I use my join date is to whack anyone who is being join date elitist. Either that or to joke about "fucking 0x'ers" usually 07/8/9ers, because its something of a running joke from back when join date elitism was a bit more rampant
I don't know if it's an optical illusion or what but I swear your avatar is slightly larger every time I see it.
Not sure 10 years and 0 bans would really work, I'm not particularly convinced there would be enough members to give it to. I think 5 years and 0 bans could work though, and either way our join date should be enough indication to give people that we've been around a fair while.
Make a silver member for 5 year users. :v: The only benefit is the old blue avatar size and grey name I want to change this piece of shit creeper but I wont settle for a smaller avatar
I love how Discourse looks. http://www.discourse.org/
Discourse sets out to disrupt all the fun forum social dynamics that we love to hate Facepunch for.
Instead, a recognition should be awarded for someone who has posted for over 10 years with no bans whatsoever.
I'm a year and four months from meeting that
Nearly 5 thousand posts, good work on following the rules KillerJaguar. The rarity entailed with it would justify a "badge" given a minimum set post count as well.
Nearly 5 thousand posts, good work on following the rules KillerJaguar. To be fair, I didn't really start posting until like 2011, when gold requirement became 5 years + 100 posts, so I started posting a little to reach 100 but never stopped. Before then, I just lurked since I was too scared of posting and getting banned.
Both postal and myself have been banned for smartness errors - I said "snigger" and he posted a picture of a butterfly the url of which unknown to him had the n word in it. There must be very few people who haven't been banned at least once. For example iirc during at least one event in the past someone managed to ban all the moderators
I must be one of the "very few" people then. Never been banned and hopefully never will be. I try to treat everyone with respect here and think how I word stuff so it doesn't rub people up the wrong way.
I've been banned quite a bit for rules I never knew existed But I've learned! Never predict banning, never talk about banning, bans dont exist, ratings dont exist, etc
Can we not do the whole join date elitism thing again? I think it was in 2012 when a shitton of people got banned for it.
I would imagine its probably more, remember a lot of posts from pre 2009 I believe got deleted ages ago.
Not to mention it deleted a lot of old bans, too. Kind of screws up the perfect ban history criteria idea. [editline]23rd June 2015[/editline]
Can we not do the whole join date elitism thing again?
Luafox has no bans. shit even garry's been banned at least once
I really doubt the gold membership lockout is going to last to this time next year, but people should really stop bringing it up here because it seems like the mods don't really have a say in it anyway. Also getting banned is part of the FP experience, if it hasn't happened to you at least once I'd say you're missing out.
meanwhile rusty was permabanned like 3 times
The thrill of having to change your password.
Huh? You have to change your password if you get banned?
Let's have a little census: Rate winner for giving members who have been here 10 years some small token on their profile area, possibly a little gold "10" under their avatar or some other little thing. Rate zinger for giving members who have been here 10 years a small token on their profile but include a ban history as part of the criteria Rate friendly [img]http://www.facepunch.com/fp/ratings/heart.png[/img] for giving members hwo have been here 10 years a small token on their profile but they must have no ban history as a criteria Rate dumb if you think the whole idea is stupid and shouldn't be discussed anymore. Keep in mind rating friendly and zinger go hand-in-hand to a point. I would rate myself winner x1
I just don't see the point in having it. On my forum we have something called Loyalty Club which is a user rank rewarded to those who are generally good posters nice and contribute to the forum in means of keeping the forum active, in return they get a small medal on their profile and they help me with testing new forum features so in some way its actually useful. Here on FP i can imagine that it would be a new age of join-date elitism.

[editline]23rd June 2015[/editline] It appears the 'dumbs' have it. Oh well, I thought it was a nice idea at least :suicide:

This thread is about making the forums better, having users have an icon next to them doesn't improve the forum in any tangible form. Besides, aside from garry birthday unbans, if you're 10 years on the forum and aren't permabanned, well, you can have the satisfaction in knowing you aren't a complete idiot.
