• Why No One Should Ever Buy from EA Games Again

Looking at this I really feel terribly sorry for you, I know cause it's happened to me too. Secondly, this makes me laugh at EA cause they claim they made Origin (their own netshop) to hand out more accurate customer support. THIS is one of the reasons they didn't give it to steam. Fuck off EA.
See this is why people love Steam, you can email actual developers, have good support, and fair sales prices.
You're joking right? [editline]2nd November 2011[/editline]
Steam's future monopoly is the best thing that will happen to everything
Monopolies are never good.
Reminds me of when I bought the BF2 complete set with all the expansions, of which euro force and armored fury didn't work because of EA's horrible product redeeming system. After reading this thread (and that ex EA emplyees stuff) I will never be buying another one of their games ever again.
When I first read the OP, I thought this thread would be a scam for $67. Glad I read the thread.

Steam will never have a monopoly on the game distribution market, that's dumb. There will always be people trying to push their shitty service or something, like EA.
Steam will never have a monopoly on the game distribution market, that's dumb. There will always be people trying to push their shitty service or something, like EA.
They might as well call it a monopoly already. Take a look at what their "competition" is.
Steam's future monopoly is the best thing that will happen to everything
No, Valve might be better than other companies but everyone starts getting complacent when they have a monopoly and then the quality of their services starts falling.
They might as well call it a monopoly already. Take a look at what their "competition" is.
That's not a monopoly. They are vastly superior, but they are not the only option. They don't have anything close to a monopoly, because there's other services available for people who don't like Steam.
Stardock's Impulse service is the only digital distribution service other than Steam that I don't mind. Although it's not as flexible as Steam. But there's one huge advantage to Impulse. It actually just installs the game normally when you download it rather than having Steam's unique setup which tends to break mods and requires Steam to be open to play them.
I have been half boycotting (getting a game from EA when helping the developer is worth helping EA) since early 2000nds. For the longest time they have been a company that didn't care about games at all and even ruined good games to get money. Its sad because from what I hear electronic arts started out as a good company.

I'm £18 pounds in debt, and wont be getting Skyrim soon because of EA. Charging me twice for BF3 and I have not recieved a response from my email yesterday morning. They are meant to respond within a day...
Request a chargeback fro your bank/whatever?
Valve isn't a monopoly. If it was, every other digital distribution service would have been bought out by now.
Not to mention that monopolies are illegal in the first place, so Valve could never have one either way.
I don't really want steam to have a monopoly, I think the other digital distributes force them to compete and thus try to out do their competitors which is always better for the customer.

Dude, you're totally awesome. Also your name is awesome, what are you talking about?
I know it's been a while, but I though I would give an update. The other day I thought to post on the Bioware Social Forums to get it fixed. Today I get a response from Chris Priestly:
HI Computermaster. Sorry for the delay in response, I was on vacation last week. I have read the thread that you linked to and I am sorry for the problems you have encountered and want to help get them resolved. First, I see 2 accounts for you. One as Computrmaster with an email OLDEMAIL and ComputermasterCK with an email NEWEMAIL. Are those the 2 accounts you are having the problems with? If so, which of these accounts would you like all of your DLC to be associated with? We will merge these accounts so that you have the correct DLC for your account. This will not delete the otehr account, but would be considered your "master" account as it were. Please let me know and then I can start working on this.
My faith in BioWare (but not EA) is restored.
Way to go! Anyone else after reading this thread think twice about purchasing from EA? I know l am.
It's funny because EA Tech Support not only helps me but gives me free CD keys. Steam support does NOTHING to help me, EVER. I preordered brink, but wanted to get a refund a day before because I was having strong gut urges to get my money back. Steam support took ~38 hours to respond, after the game released and said basically "Sorry, too bad, too late, can't do anything."
Figured I'd post this before I went to bed:
Chris, I understand you've been having some issues with some of your BioWare DLC, and would like to help you out with it. When you have a moment, please provide me with a phone number and a convenient time to give you a call so that we can work through the issues and get you up and running. When responding, if possible, please let me know what game you're referring to as well, and what DLC appears to be missing, so that I can investigate prior to giving you a call. Thanks for your time, and I look forward to speaking with you! Regards, Russell Wilson Executive Customer Relations
Chris (Priestly that is) sure as hell poked someone important.
Figured I'd post this before I went to bed: Chris (Priestly that is) sure as hell poked someone important.
I approve of Good Guy Bioware. Glad to hear things are getting sorted out.
GOOD NEWS EVERYONE! I just got a call from Russell Watson (the executive in my above post). All of my DLC is now authenticating correctly with my original account. He also told me to shoot him an email around the release time of ME3. (Apparently even employees can't reserve/pre-order things this soon).
