Do you work with any other militaries? Say the UK/Canada/Australia? Also, big respect for what you're doing over there, any soldier in a war zone should be respected. Love the soldier, hate the war.
What's your favorite color?
That sounds fucking fun
Hope nothing bad happens to you, dude. :patriot: Come back safe!
Hey, did you know Osama is dead? :OOOOOO
Hey, did you know Osama is dead? :OOOOOO
I bet OP killed him.
I bet OP killed him.
If this is the case, then this will make Facepunch history.
Osama dead :toot: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/42852700/ns/world_news-south_and_central_asia/ But OP would have known before we did anyway :v:
did you kill bin laden?
OP, can you post a picture of yourself in military gear. Oh, and can you tell me something about the stuff that they put on their M4s? Everyone have different scopes and shit. Also, aren't you scared of getting ambushed by insurgents with RPGs in your FOB/vehicle while on patrol? Or IEDs are worst? Is the FOB surrounded by mountains? How good is the defences in the FOB?
If you come across a civilian starving, are you aloud to feed them?

Do you have to pay for your ammunition? and how many rounds do you use a week?
counter terrorists win
Do you have to pay for your ammunition? and how many rounds do you use a week?
no and not much i bet
If you come across a civilian starving, are you aloud to feed them?
Obviously. Why would you even ask that?
Obviously. Why would you even ask that?
hey if there is a bad guy shooting at you can you kill him??
This is from the 'Obama Bin Laden Dead' thread ...and it's so fucking win.
OP, TIME FOR YOU TO LEAVE
My brother deployed to Kyrgyzstan about last year, to do maintenance on KC-135's and what not. Closest he's ever been to the war.
.
If you come across a civilian starving, are you aloud to feed them?
lol Depending on what the CO says, soldiers may or may not be allowed to feed starving Afghans. Guys who get deployed will constantly get harassed by kids asking for bottled water outside the FOB, but they can't exactly give them all the shit that they want. It's fucked up, but that's the way it is. Same way with injuries, medics can't take care of injured Afghans unless they were directly injured by US soldiers or munitions. My brother told me about a kid coming up to his squad on a patrol, and the kid had wicked WP burns all over his chest and face, but they weren't allowed to help him because it wasn't a result of their munitions. @Jimmaye: Soldiers' ammunition is paid for, but they're only allowed to use a certain amount of it for certain purposes in most cases. For someone working mainly on the FOB, they could put out a lot of ammo on the range, sometimes not very much at all. Depends on how much they like to practice and their allotment of ammo. You guys just need to stop asking him questions about combat. Seriously, he's an imagery analyst, he's not going to have a straight answer about all this high-speed low-drag business. TPMaster, I want to know some beep boop stuff about looking at UAV pictures. Considering it's pretty much like looking through an underwater soda straw and everything is a grainy, misshapen blob, do you have to do a lot of cross-referencing with other mediums of intelligence to figure out what you're looking at on a picture?
I'm one of those "action guy" bullet sponges you're referring to by the way. Oh and regardless if you go out you could still get PTSD. Anyways you're still a dumbass private who thinks he knows everything.
Not criticizing your choice of job, just explaining why I chose mine. I'm not down with being in that much danger, maybe you are. Just because I'm a private doesn't mean that I'm stupid. Try being more grown up if you're a specialist or an NCO. I had a problem getting my RFI gear in Hawaii so I'm still wearing ACUs and using an IBA. Should be fixed shortly, though. No. we don't use any rounds if we don't need to. UAS pictures aren't too bad. It gets bad when you get into some of the older imagery satellites. Everything has key features when you're looking at it from the sky. Vehicles have certain characteristics, Armored vehicles have turret placement, barrel hooks, turret length, etc. that help us distinguish them. You can pretty much get what you want from any piece of imagery, no cross-referencing needed. I actually will be going outside the wire a bit, but no. Not really scared. If I die, I die, and I won't know the difference. 4. Sure is. 5. I'm not going to talk about that on Facepunch. [editline]2nd May 2011[/editline]
If you went through ROTC why didn't you get your commission? I DEP'd in as 35W a few weeks ago, do you like the intelligence field?
Misread as JROTC. My bad. The intel field isn't bad for the most part. Just don't join expecting not to go outside the wire because it WILL happen. Like me, I got put in a COIST with an infantryman and now I have to go on patrol every so often with him and my First Sergeant (he's the 1SG's driver).
Ever kill someone?
did you kill bin laden?
Obviously :obama:
They're not allowed to answer that. Trust me, I even asked veterans who served in the Persian Gulf war.
Of course you're allowed. Most people just don't want to answer. It's kind of a rude question anyway.

Maybe later bro, but I like the way I am and that doesn't stop me from being a good soldier. We get it... you're in the military, overseas, and in Afghanistan on a FOB. Make a thread about it. :jerkbag: *sigh* Ok, anyways I'm done being a douche bag prick now... I'll shut up now because I really hate being one. Enjoy you're time there and save up money I've known a lot of guys who actually came back broke. Oh and eat a falafel for me. :P Thank you for all the dumbs.
Bump?
The answers you seek are above, my friend. [editline]2nd May 2011[/editline]
A know-it-all private and a smartass as well. Grow up?
Yes, and it blew hard.
Bump on this. "How so?" I'd like to know how contemporary OPFOR fights against today's digitized US Army compared to the mechanized, Soviet-style OPFOR of the 1990s against rotating units that fought in Desert Storm, if you've ever done so. Did they use any countermeasures against the UAVs you are using?
