I see other NATO soldiers all the time. Internet is meh in the rooms and better at the MWR's. Good enough to pass time...
Not good enough to stream porn.
Do you have African gate guards? I heard they're awesome.

You poor, poor man.
I don't think so, if they have anything serious, they would have used it by now, wouldn't they?
He means that all the Taliban and Al Qaeda militants will have a field day with Mortars and ambushes, and the DCs are going to get pounded.
are you one of those guys who don't care to know the reasons for the war, or possible political motives, but just go there for job/money/sense of family/?fun?

Basically I'm here to protect my battle buddies from harm. I don't see the sense in the war, but as long as it's going on I like to help save as many friendlies as I can.
What actually convinced you to join the army, this branch of it in particular?
Is it kind of like the beach, do you always have sand in your pants?
Is it kind of like the beach, do you always have sand in your pants?
Not in your pants, no. But the dust and sand gets into your shoes. It gets into your gear. It gets everywhere. Some days you come back and take your shoes off and turn 'em over... And all this sand just pours out.
What actually convinced you to join the army, this branch of it in particular?
The benefits, the bonus, the job, the history, and because my dad, grandad, great grandad, and great great grandad all served the Army.
I have to ask, have you ever interacted with Canadian troops, and what are your impressions of them? I'm curious.
Retoast I guess
Retoast I guess
Nope. Haven't seen any Canadians here on BAF. They're here, I just haven't seen them.
Would you say you're also here for the experience? My uncle served in Ireland and told me he joined because he just wanted to join for the experience, I'm not quite sure on what he meant by it still, so maybe you could explain.

You learn a lot of things when you go through training to become a soldier. You learn about yourself, you learn about discipline, honor, sacrifice, morals, etc. It's like character building and it really works.
Of course you're allowed. Most people just don't want to answer. It's kind of a rude question anyway.
sorry dude!
Probably already asked, have you killed anyone?
Probably already asked, have you killed anyone?
No, and I'll tell you again, that's a somewhat rude question.
How good is your communication between units? I remember reading for example a couple years ago about infantrymen having to actually plot their routes on their cell phones to get the big picture, which seems like what you're doing, so it's good you guys are working on it.
The big thing about anaconda was that no one really communicated and as soon as the plan went to hell no one knew what was going on. Is this more or less mitigated?
I don't know what OPSEC is like now, but a former Director of Intelligence at the NTC seemed willing to post his interesting "NTC stories" on another forum such as the one below. Of course, that was in a different era and I'm sure OPSEC has changed.
On "fighting the Soviets", that stuff can be basically found on many military periodicals digitized free on the internet. That's not really classified information. One I would single out is "Red Thrust Star".
where is this from?
where is this from?
What is "this"?
Basically I'm here to protect my battle buddies from harm. I don't see the sense in the war, but as long as it's going on I like to help save as many friendlies as I can.
you might consider fighting against the war itself, that would save many more lives on both sides.
Have you tried the roller-coaster?

You can't ask me to be concerned for the people that are killing American soldiers. Just won't happen.
You can't ask me to be concerned for the people that are killing American soldiers. Just won't happen.
Its not only enemy soldiers that die in a war. Besides, they are killing American soldiers because they have been told the American soldiers are invading and are trying to destroy them all. This is not completely true of course, but people are easily tricked when there are tanks driving around outside their homes and killing their friends and family.
Then again, your not made privy by the government to the reason your in someone else's country, assisting in killing them. Perhaps American soldiers are just as guilty of being victim to the same trickery

Gee thanks.
I will take pics when I get a camera. The ones I uploaded earlier were done with my webcam.
Are you tired of people asking you dumb questions about osama being dead that aren't really relevant at all?
cause I am... Also, reading through this thread while the Team America theme is playing in the background... is pretty awesome, got to say...

Top two things that I hate about this thread:
1.People asking about Osama
2.People asking if I've killed anyone
