Remember the undercover name of Tom Bender, 'Franz Poekler'? A while back I did a large search for him and found that Franz Poekler's a character in some old novel. Eventually DL'd a literary study of the book, with some parts on Poekler in it as well. Perhaps relevant?

The whole 'imaginary' thing and 'life in film' sort of business might be a reference to this whole cyberspace thing or the VHS. The last paragraph is pretty spot-on; we know so very little about the narrator himself, yet through him we know a lot about the other characters (Nicole, Glyph, Chief, and so on).

Might just be something completely different though. Who knows.

You're tying the pens to countries and alliances based on nothing except the assumption that it's a metaphor for it. I might as well say the pens falling is a metaphor for my grades getting lower because there's an equal amount of proof backing it.

Once again, just an idea. The pens might be a metaphor for anything, I'm just putting forward an idea of what the metaphor could be...
It could work, if you thought about it. The UN will be making a final decision on Syria tomorrow. It's a hard decision. Alliances will possibly break due to people getting angry at decisions made. If they [the alliances] break, the world [what I thought could be the jar] could be placed on a downward spiral towards anything.
There isn't really any evidence for any theory on this.
