only the best in fashion
[editline]19th March 2016[/editline]
is it normal to see people literally using skateboards as fashion accessories???
i was in london and saw two guys with wknd boards (the same one j beebs uses) holding them by the truck without a single scratch on it
yes
mall grab
The wrong way to hold a skateboard (by the trucks, with grip tape rubbing against your pants).
Typical of people who spend more time carrying their skateboard around the mall as a fashion accessory instead of actually riding it.

Tbh that sounds about as dumb as using headphones as fashion, use them for their intended purposes lmao.
On an unrelated note, what do ya'll think of white denim jeans
I like the skinny ones. they go well with black t shirt & shoes in my opinion
These are alright. Aside from the rips and the fact everything else is white

Shoes from a place called Skopunkten, were on sale.
Coat is second hand but was originaly bough from H&M, in-house brand.
Vest from H&M, in-house brand.
Shirt from Carlings, in-house brand as well.
Jeans from Carlings as well, Levi's.
Probably gonna have my hair in a bun for the entire day but might just put some jewelry in it to snaz it all up.
Over all, pretty happy with these finds and they compliment eachother extremely well, atleast in my opinion.
holy moly
The way this thread gives advice is fucked. Sometimes it's genuine honest well intentioned advice, which is appreciated, but most of the time it's passive agressive, pretentious, and/or just mockery. Just a warning to anyone who posts here: take the advice given with a massive grain of salt. What is considered good fashion in one group is mocked by many others. I say wear whatever makes you happy. Do your best to understand why people think what they think about your clothing choice, as this will probably expand your understanding of fashion in general and will probably change your fashion sense in the process, but please make your own opinions and realize that there are things that really are bullshit, yet for whatever reason are still considered to be respectable. For example "professional" wine tasters.
If you want to know more about them: http://www.skeptical-science.com/bullshit/winetasting-supposed-experts-fooled/
I do think that there is pretty basic fashion advice that almost everyone can benefit from, but past a certain point it really is personal taste and how you want to express yourself.
I'll get off my soapbox now.
fashion in general is bitchy and pretentious
at least this aint /fa/
[editline]20th March 2016[/editline]
i made fun of /fa/ on a local buy/sell group on Facebook once and they posted a bunch of pictures in me in a thread and one dude said he'd beat me up if I ever go to Sydney lmao

i really don't see the wine-tasting insertion being relevant here. that study is honestly so annoying because people all across the internet are trying to apply it to every hobby/science ever as some kind of proof that whatever they already believe is more valid than whatever they're frustrated with.
one of the biggest things to realize about clothing: it's not just about aesthetics. dressing well is about image and association, both of which are partly cultural and not that subjective.
don't normally like Reeboks but this new Garbstore collab :ok:
[t]http://static.highsnobiety.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/18202611/reebok-garbstore-aztec-inside-out-01-960x640.jpg[/t]
really love the whole inside-out concept
those would almost be interesting without the whole inside-out concept
[editline]20th March 2016[/editline]
probably the most attractive thing about the shoe is the lack of typical loud reebok branding because of that gimmick
they're definitely not anything stand out but they seem like a p. good versatile sneaker
[editline]20th March 2016[/editline]
plus the less branding the better :^)
i really don't see the wine-tasting insertion being relevant here. that study is honestly so annoying because people all across the internet are trying to apply it to every field of hobby/science ever as some kind of proof that whatever they already believe is more valid than whatever they're frustrated with.
I thought the wine tasting insertion was relevant because it has to do with a group of people who are respected regardless of them actually having any objective merit. I think fashion is like this sometimes because people will receive a reputation as having "good taste" and will be considered "fashionable" individuals regardless their actual merit. In fashion I think things balloon out of proportion to their actual merit solely based on hype, similar to wine tasting where the highest rated wines are the best selling ones consistently. I was trying to say and maybe not so well that in fashion because it is a subjective endeavor you should develop your own tastes similar to wine tasting: drink what you think tastes good, not on what some "expert" thinks.
Do you think this is valid?
i can see where you're coming from but it's not really the same
zara is one of the best selling clothing brands but no one really considers it high quality or good fashion
I agree that it isn't the same in every aspect, there is probably a better analogy.
To what Mbbird was saying about image and association and culture, I think is valid. Understanding the cultural associations and various changes in perceptions other people have of your image based on how you dress is a very important consideration. I think that people's perception of those associations and culture that are expressed in clothing are subjective though too. The perception of dreadlocks around the world changes substantially based on who is wearing the dreads and who is looking at them. Some people think of them as gross, some people think they have spiritual value, some people think they are lame, some people think the people who wear them are stoners, some people think they are cool. So while culture and image may be less subjective than the asthetics itself the perception of the culture and image is just as subjective as anything else in life.
