The way this thread gives advice is fucked. Sometimes it's genuine honest well intentioned advice, which is appreciated, but most of the time it's passive agressive, pretentious, and/or just mockery. Just a warning to anyone who posts here: take the advice given with a massive grain of salt. What is considered good fashion in one group is mocked by many others. I say wear whatever makes you happy. Do your best to understand why people think what they think about your clothing choice, as this will probably expand your understanding of fashion in general and will probably change your fashion sense in the process, but please make your own opinions and realize that there are things that really are bullshit, yet for whatever reason are still considered to be respectable. For example "professional" wine tasters. If you want to know more about them: http://www.skeptical-science.com/bullshit/winetasting-supposed-experts-fooled/ I do think that there is pretty basic fashion advice that almost everyone can benefit from, but past a certain point it really is personal taste and how you want to express yourself. I'll get off my soapbox now.
There is no such thing as basic fashion advice. I could make just as strong an argument about why the best combo is a neon green mesh shirt + neon pink jorts as I could about a white tshirt and black jeans. If you post in this thread as a means of gathering opinions, you are looking to turn the subjective into the objective, which is impossible. I don't really see the point you are trying to make, since you have come in here for advice, and then get mad when we tell you our opinion. There really isn't anything that makes my opinion better than yours. Sure I have been featured in magazines, blogs, papers, been hired to shop for people etc., but does that really validate my own fashion sense? Not really. It just goes to show that my personal tastes are within an arbitrarily defined boundary of "good," even though anyone could walk up to me on the street and say I look like a freak and they will be justified in doing so. Basically this weird stream of consciousness is trying to get to the point of: If someone is going to get mad when others tell them a shirt they bought sucked, then why did they ask for advice anyways. Advice has never meant to be a validation of other's taste, and taste is subjective. So to bring back an earlier example, if I feel like me is a mesh shirt with pink jorts, then all the yeezys, skinny jeans, and hypebeast shirts in the world are not going to stop me. But if I am not sure that a mesh shirt with pink jorts are me, then I'm not really in a position to get mad when others tell me that my clothing combo is shit. [editline]20th March 2016[/editline] This post is not really directed at you, but like at a metaphysical "you."

[editline]20th March 2016[/editline] This post is not really directed at you, but like at a metaphysical "you."
So I actually have never really been mad at any of the advice or opinions I have personally gotten in this thread, I actually wasn't even posting that in the response I got to the shirt I posted. It might have seemed that way, but it was merely coincidence. I'm not against people saying what they think about clothing and being blunt about it, in fact I encourage it. I was actually thinking about the response about the post that the guy in here earlier who had never contributed before had gotten. I don't think the advice was bad and I actually didn't think it looked good to be honest. The previous statement was more clarification and wasn't intended to be a part of the original claim that "the way this thread gives advice is fucked" I'm not "angry" that people are giving their opinions. I'm saying that the WAY this thread gives advice is often unhelpful and more about making the "advice givers" feel superior than actually genuinely having the best interest of the advice seeker in mind. I had intended it to be an in general warning to people who wanted advice in the thread, not a "wow stop what you are doing in this thread you sick heartless fucks". I personally enjoy the banter sometimes and I wasn't asking you guys to change. I was trying to say that people who are genuinely looking for help shouldn't take the criticism at face value, and along with that they should also form their own opinions. In other advice threads or even other general subject matter threads like the weightlifting one the advice is usually friendly and aimed at helping the person rather than feeding their own ego by giving the most condescending reply possible. For example if someone posts a video of them doing an exercise wrong asking for advice it's totally fine if the person who replies tells them their form is terrible. What isn't cool is when they give a condescending reply trivializing their attempt in the first place with a response like: wow you are literally the most helpless gym retard I have ever seem, you should just accept that you will always be small because just wow I don't even know where to start. Obviously that's an extreme example, but that was in a nutshell the beef I have with this thread. I qualified my argument with "some of the advice is genuinely good and well intentioned" I just think that replies that are condescending and pretentious shouldn't be encouraged and they often are, so with that being said people who want advice should take the advice they get with a grain of salt.
how about the people who are certain they dress well actually post fit pics.... make this thread less of a "peasants seeking approval from the council of gods" format
i would post a fit but i've never taken selfies cos i don't have a camera so it's all just awkward holiday pics from like four years ago
one of the biggest things to realize about clothing: it's not just about aesthetics. dressing well is about image and association, both of which are partly cultural and not that subjective.
you got that right brother
