Let's see, let's see.

The things I found the best about Death Note was that they didn't add some random plot device out of nowhere. Really on the wiki page it said that they considered adding a book that brought people back to life, which would just make the deathnote pointless. Also, L and Light acted somewhat rationally, or well in a way that sounded reasonable. If the two main characters were created in a way that was really predictable or just down right dumb, than I would have stopped.
But, there were a lot of stuff that I didn't like. Every other character what pointless, and the side characters didn't really have any effect on the story. What did the police people do besides gawk over how smart the main characters were. Especially Misa, it never seems like she actually accomplished anything herself. Something, which it isn't the first time I've seen in a drama show, is over explaining. Like the shelf Light hides the death note in, did he really have to tell in detail how it works? I never actually comes into play, which makes it just seem like a plothole plug. And over explaining the plans before/after they happen, it's a visual median for a reason. What bothered me most about it was how all characters are from Batman. Light=Joker, Misa=Harley Quin, L's butler=Alfred, L's dad=Gordon.
My rating: 3.5 red apples out of 5.
And really, screw the fangirls, there is nothing cute about getting fat because you ate cake all day.

omg i love this show
^ why did you post you bumped this thread up it was it a year dead um wow um wow rude um wow
It goes form amazing, to horrible, to amazing again in one series. Thankfully the horrible part is only about 3 episodes long near the end, and the last 5 episodes are amazing again.
Probably the only anime I actually like.
It's serious, seriousness is something alot of animes lack.
I watched Bleach for a while, but stopped after it got too weird, there was the talking teddy bear and the guy who ran around on the pig and the naked black woman who turned into a cat, I just couldn't take it anymore.
Japanese people are so weird.
I hate anime, it's boring, stories are crap, and I never liked it.
Except Death Note, god this show is brilliant. Everyone should watch it, and not dismiss it just because it's an Anime.
Second half was horrible.
First half was amazing, until Misa got added into it, then it just became good.
Watched like two years ago. Maybe the only anime I ever liked
Really good. To the people saying it's the ONLY anime they've liked, may I suggest Trigun or Cowboy Bebop? People who generally don't watch anime also call them really good shows.
Death Note reads like something written by someone really talented, and then put together by a monkey.
All of the individual bits work, but then you have shit like a tiny television inside of a bag of potato chips and a blonde metrosexual 16 year old as an antagonist.
I hate how I get really into the story and then it wrecks it by pulling out something unbelievably stupid.

Misa being the writer adding in his goth jerk off material.
Which fucking ruins the tone of the story.
And is retarded.
fucking misa
I always felt that Misa was from a completely different type of anime and ended up in Death Note by mistake.
Death note was the first proper anime I watched, thought it was pretty great.
imo what Light did was good (killing criminals etc) but Jesus he's such a dick.

I liked that, because Light was so manipulative. He found her annoying too.

having a character that's annoying, and characters in the story that ALSO think they're annoying?
Who does that remind me of?

Except she actually served a purpose.

so did jar jar binks, if you will remember
the point is that the character didn't fit into the tone of the story and was needlessly fucking annoying goth jerk off material shoe horned in by the writer

Yeah, he caused the clone wars.
I watched a few episodes of Death note then forgot about it, will have to watch it at some point.
It was alright, but certain events and characters dulled it down.
The analysis of each others' plans is so spot on it's pretty ridiculous sometimes:
"He killed a prisoner? DON'T YOU SEE! ONLY A COLLEGE STUDENT LIVING WITH A POLICE CHIEF WOULD HAVE DONE THAT!"
[editline]20th February 2011[/editline]
I personally think it got a bit silly and too unrealistic around the time when [sp] they got a kickin' rad skyscraper to track down kira from.[/sp]
Not that a magical book of death that kills people is realistic, but it's not as if they went "Yeah [sp]L summoned the skyscraper from the dimension of skyscrapers[/sp]" or something, it just kind of was like "Oh yeah, by the way i[sp] have a skyscraper we can use just around that nobody knew about before.[/sp]"
By the way, using spoiler tags when the spoiler is [sp]L[/sp] doesn't really work. How many other 1 letter characters is it gonna be?
Wasn't L pretty rich?
Also, with the college student thing [sp] most of the killings happened during the weekend, so they thought it was someone who would be busy during the week i/e a student. [/sp]
Heh, my favorite character was L.
I watched most of the anime but after *that* event I went sad and stopped. Gonna read the manga I guess.
Oh, that bit was pretty clever. I know. I just mean some of it was a bit silly. Like how they decided to completely rule out the idea that could have been someone with a 9/5 job?
[editline]23rd February 2011[/editline]
I think he mentions that it was built like that week.
Also, L was rich but we're never given any indication of this skyscraper existing and it's just like "oh yeah btw i have this skycraper nobody's ever seen/mentioned/heard about.
I think he mentions it was just built that week.
Only anime that kept me absorbed through the entire thing and I actually liked the English voice actors honestly.
After [sp] L dies [/sp] to me, it got a bit boring, so I never finished the series completely.

It does get boring for a little while afterwards but then it picks back up and the finale is awesome

I really didn't like the ending [sp]I wanted Light to win[/sp]
I really didn't like the ending [sp]I wanted Light to win[/sp]
I know but [sp]You expect him to win and after following him through the whole series, it makes it that much more dramatic[/sp]
Deathnote + Durarara = The only animes I watch
