Anyone ever see that film with him and Lee Marvin where they are 2 sailors, one jap and one American shipwrecked on an island together. Interesting idea but sadly not great.
Toshiro Mifune acted with everything, so powerful.
I honestly didn't know it was him in Yojimbo after watching 7 Samurai. He is very flexible with his roles.
I Saw The Devil - 9/10

Watch Thirst. It's great.
Doubt
Film starring Meryl Streep and Phil Seymour Hoffman about a face off between a senior nun and a priest. Two big hitters like that always deliver but the film is a bit nothing. Worth a watch with a couple of quite intense scenes. Recommended.
saw Punch Drunk Love
well.. Adam Sandler has never been given the chance to do something with heart, so on the right off I can see this is probably his defining moment imo.
A short movie, representing a romance which is a little insane and confusing but that's love. The conversations they have, or rather in moments the "lack of" show how effective people's connections can be by just how they interact.
I only just realised I've seen Emily Watson in a whole load of other movies, she's great in Breaking the Waves. There's not much to her role here, but she made it work in her way.
As for the plot, it's ridiculous. And it fits.
It's the only film with Adam Sandler where I don't see Adam Sandler in the character, I just see Barry Egan.
Iron Sky - 8/10
Great film, toward end it slows down a lot but it picks up at the very end. The beginning is very, very humorous, and it makes several references I've never seen in a film (Dr. Strangelove, Downfall). I recommend watching it with a couple of friends.

I watched...
The Social Network.
That's right, I gave into my regretably dumb bias that this thought of it "just being a movie about Facebook".
It's a legal drama. And I fucking love legal dramas to death, they're intense, they are real and more importantly.. they're what life in this world is about, which is fucked up.
Anyway, it's a play on people fucking one another over. Mr Fincher never fails, and I knew this from a year ago.. and I knew I was missing this.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's the greatest thing in the world.. just a lot "more" than how it's marketed and how people around me talked about Facebook. Learn to ignore everything.
There are clear twinges of school life here which makes the legal side a little more engaging. All in all, I think I've come to terms with having premonitions that are crap. :-)
The Innkeepers because Rusty says so - 8/10
thor 7/10
it was basically iron man but with thor instead. i mean yeah the premise and everything is different but i can't shake the feeling it's sort of a satellite movie... if that even explains my idea in two words.
it's all leading up to the avengers i guess. which is okay. just this movie lost something i feel because it was a movie in a series.
going to rewatch There Will Be Blood bluray on 42 inch television
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
also Dictator 6/10
i laughed more than i thought, but overall it still was just bad.
thor 7/10

I dont think it felt like iron man in any way
well, except for it being a marvel movie, and it's easy to recognize one of those

then why did you give it a 6/10? That means it's better than average.

[sp]It obviously wasn't doubt as to what she thought was Hoffman's guilt, even though we as the viewer knew he was innocent. The sermon at the start about doubt and faith pretty much described that last scene when he said that weakness, doubt and lack of faith are what unifies people. That was manifest when the younger sister pitied her and embraced her. That was one of the great scenes in the film as well as the face off between the 2 characters in the office.[/sp]
that's arguable
[sp]he may have actually been a bit "inappropriately" close with the kid.
as the symbolism and acting goes, it's pretty extraordinary. I never expected a movie of its caliber to work so well[/sp]
by the end of doubt even i was starting to think hoffman might have diddled the kid
un homme qui dort - 3/5
ivan's childhood 4/5
the green ray 4.5/5
law abiding citizen 1/5
valerie and her week of wonders 3/5
badlands 3.5/5
hausu 4/5
I don't remember much of law abiding citizen, why was it so bad?

well, except for it being a marvel movie, and it's easy to recognize one of those
that might be it... but spider man was so much different, so was daredevil.
i dunno, capt america, iron man and thor just all feel the same in a big way to me for some reason. maybe it's that the special effects look alike and they were shot the same with a similar tone.
i've seen other marvel movies that sort of break this mold of feeling and tone that i get from these recent movies.
tears of the sun 8/10
pretty standard action movie, only it's supposedly realistic. i'm familiar with bounding and peeling (videya gaems dur) and the other stuff they do (military documentaries on netflix instant.... durrr).
monica bellucci is pretty hot. at least they made her look different from her character that gets raped in a movie that came out a year before this one, otherwise it would have probably taken something away. she's a pretty decent actress as well. her and bruce make an okay couple as far as film love interests go but there's something about it that doesn't fit so it doesn't really work.
the one thing that really pissed me off though were the fireworks explosions. grenades don't look like an m1000 with sparklers taped to the side of it going off. iirc frag grenades don't really have that big of an explosion at all. it's the shrapnel that's propelled by the explosion of the core charge of the grenade that has a wide radius. the reason why this pisses me off is that they clearly went to the trouble to get some military accuracy with certain aspects and then with other aspects it's pure hollywood. fireworks carpet bombing and all that bullshit, it's stupid. it looks more like 4th of july than a military grade bomb of any kind going off
this film doesn't really know what it wants to be
The Intouchables 9/10
watched it on accident, a very lucky accident
it's funny, beautiful and almost teared me up. and the soundtrack is magnifique!!
Prometheus
a solid 7.5/10 (It didn't feel as good as an 8, but it felt better than a 7).

As long as it doesn't get too spammy, go nuts. They're nice bite-sized chunks of opinion.
why would it be spammy of its ontopic of the thread and i still post my rating here
watched Shame.
I thought to call it the man's version of Lost in Translation, but NOW I reckon it's the Lost in Translation version of American Psycho :v:
Sex addict, self indulgent and ridiculously cool. Michael Fassenschiesenhalber is a superb actor. I've seen him in the previous Mcqueen movie Hunger, and Inglourious.
I'll see Prometheus and I'm guaranteed he's the next best mainstream actor.
As for this.. seriously good. Although some may feel uneasy about the sexuality but if you let go of all decent sensibility, you'll feel yourself getting lost within this nice psychological piece.
Also the [sp]blood[/sp] here looked horribly real. :O

So far everything I've seen from him is quite diverse so right now its not possible to say he's taking the same old Fassbender roles like maybe other actors we could mention. I too am looking forward very much to catching him in Prometheus.
