Magic Mike 6/10
The marketing for this movie would have you think it was some raunchy male stripper movie but its really far from it.
This isn't just a movie about male strippers as some people would think, but its a look into the lives of these people and the things they struggle with on a daily basis.
Also, Channing Tatum had pretty good comic timing, which was nice to see.

I'll stand by him!
That's just gonna get him Permabanned... I'll just back out again.
But it's at least a 6/10.

Why? He didn't display any opinions.
Apocalypse Now - 9/10
What are other movies in Apocalypse Now's tier with similar style?
What are other movies in Apocalypse Now's tier with similar style?
Aguire, The Wrath of God was a direct inspiration for the style. However, this may not have the EXACT affect as it is a lot different in plot.
If you're after other war movies, watch The Deer Hunter, Platoon and The Thin Red Line. Jarhead is also a really good "biographical" war movie.
But if you're talking about the psychedelia involved, there's things you'll have to watch to gain more experiences like that.

What I liked about it is the amount of emotion it could make you feel in spite of the film's ambiguous direction and vibe! I'm open to movies with different settings as it definitely doesn't have to be a war movie to do that.

Dude, it's a lot more than just "the amount of emotion".
I'll give you a movie like "Babel" and it would be irrelevant seeing as you want an experience like Apocalypse Now. :v:
Trust me mahn, these movies are for you. :)
This is one of your posts where I don't know how to reply lol. I know it's """"more than just the amount of emotion""" :v: The scenes' compositions were sick as frack.
Oddly I want a non-war movie that is as intense and artistic.

The Thin Red Line and Jarhead aren't 'Nam movies, though.

Well. This you'll have to search on your own. I can't perceive what you find artistic and intense.
Just pick things that you feel the need to see.

Apocalypse Now dude, duh!
Watched mask of zorro for about the millionth time but the first time in recent years.
7/10
could anybody recommend any child's play-esque movies? I am genuinely interested in the whole killer doll concept, but I've seen all chucky movies a good 3-4 times each.
Netflix is down, I'm kinda bummed.
Netflix is down, I'm kinda bummed.
I was about to say, wow, that is a real bummer, because I was going to watch a movie on Netflix, but then I clicked on Netflix and it loaded for me.
It's back now sweet!

don't you mean at least negative a thousand out of 10
hunger games - 7.5-8/10
i was actually surprised by this film; i thought it would be a lot more female oriented and bowdlerized than it actually was. it's pretty good, just it really flops when it comes to scenes that are supposed to be emotional - the amount of tropes and cliches in these make them almost aggressively cheesy. some of the characters also suffer from serious cases of whiny-teenager-syndrome, but i can imagine this being the book's fault. they did great job on character and set design though, and even though the acting was sometimes wooden, the characters were generally likable.
really, i only went to watch it because people kept on telling me i looked exactly like one of the tributes. i left the theatre entertained.
(battle royale is still the better film though)
The Amazing Spider-Man
7/10
the butterfly effect 2
2/10
i was insanely dissapointed how a movie all about the effect of one little thing only happens 3 times total
whereas the first happens around 7 or something times
its just a waste of time tbh
Srpski Film (A Serbian Film): There's really nothing I can say about this that hasn't been said already, I mean if rape, necrophilia or pedophilia is your thing you'll probably have a blast with it, otherwise I don't really know why you'd watch it for any other reason than to say you have.

haven't seen the film, but don't you think the whining stems from the fact that they're forced to kill each other?

Plus [sp]he had absolutly no reason to kill himself at the end. Why did he do it?[/sp]
The Amazing Spider-Man
8/10
went better than expected.
Yet to see it, what's your thoughts on Tree of life?
i have yet to see that one, for some weird reason.
Letter Never Sent - 9/10
absolutely perfect filmmaking. one of the best looking films I've seen, and the plot is simple but works well on an emotional level. it's very Soviet but didn't feel like propaganda to me, it just felt really human.
has anyone seen Ted yet?
I was just looking for a new movie and found "Netflix top 100" and facepalmed so hard. It has some of the most terribly mediocre movies on the list and I am sure it's missing several worthy films.

Just curious but what would "female oriented" be like in this case?
