Joke
Your head
Ted. 8/10
Was pretty damn funny, had a ton of bits that were hilarious. The story though isn't the greatest.
Oh yeah, forgot to rate this movie:

The Skin I Live In (2011)
Beautifully shot, excellent actors and one pretty fucked up story. Even though the ending was a bit of [sp]predictable[/sp] I could still enjoy it because of the great actors.
8/10
the cover is a painting so im sold
it looks more like an edited photograph. I could be wrong though.
yeah it could be its a small res pic
the cover is a painting so im sold
Been looking around for information and the general consensus seems to agree that it is an airbrushed photograph. still like it though
how disappointing
[img_thumb]http://litaonfilm.files.wordpress.com/2011/10/skin-poster.jpg[/img_thumb]¨
(click it, it's large res)
Yep, pretty sure it is.
[editline]3rd July 2012[/editline]
still better than your average typical movie poster with the actors posing in the typical way with yellow and blue tint everywhere
and stuff
shit, i dunno. some of it looks painted, some bits don't.
i've seen quite a few photoshop brushes in my time and i can tell from a few pixels that it is indeed airbrushed
[t]http://www.getcovers.net/wp-content/uploads/The_Skin_I_Live_In_2011_R1_CUSTOM-cd-www.GetCovers.net_.jpg[/t]
There are a few covers like this one that are clearly a photo. They seem to be in the same position, but Banderas is out of focus.
yeah if i overlay them its deffos a paintover, not an airbrush.
I think it's an airbrushed photo only with some parts painted over that. Airbrushing wouldn't create those kind of eyebrows and her lips wouldn't look like that, so the eyebrows and lips were probably actually painted.

Stanley Kubrick: A Life in Pictures (2001)
It was a fine lengthy documentary, but I didn't feel like it didn't do Kubrick justice. I mean, we had all these important figures in cinema history (Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, etc) giving interviews on his life, but because there were essentially no interviews with Kubrick himself it just felt short. I didn't really give a damn about how his friends and colleagues perceived him. I just expected to see more of Kubrick, and less of these other figures.
Still, it was a good documentary and if you like Kubrick at all I recommend watching it. Just don't expect it to have the insightful properties that for example Hearts of Darkness (1991) had.
7.5/10
And that is probably one of the most boring posters/covers I've ever seen for a documentary film.

Lost in Translation: 9/10
A good movie about the theme of isolation. It has charm, and a certain humor to it that you'd only understand if you watched it. Scarlett Johansson who was I think 18 when she filmed this, and her role in this movie is so natural, she fits in perfectly.
Ted - 8/10
Extremely funny. Great casting. Really glad it was rated R. Watch it.
EDIT
Nevermind, Rusty rated this dumb, don't go see it. Damn, how dare me.
Apocalypse Now - 7/10
It started off good but the end got pretty boring. I really didn't like the main guy, he wasn't very interesting and just came off as an asshole. I might enjoy it more if I watched it again, It wasn't really keeping my attention and being 2 and a half hours long, it felt like it dragged a lot. That said, there was a lot of very impressive visuals and it looked like it took a hell of a lot of effort to put together.
Chernobyl Diaries
Well, I am quite a freak for Chernobyl related stuff, so I thought myself I should give this one a shot. I went there with low expectations and well the movie is somewhat trash.
Generally, this movie has great potential and absolutely amazing setting. Which is totally wasted and unused. With some finesse this movie could have been more awesome.
First the characters are really annoying, the character developpement is severly lacking. Some jokes are funny, only Youri was somewhat decent, because he had an accent :v: You don't feel jack shit when they die. Then they used the totally overused "Mutations that are chasing humans setting combined with secret military operations". Honestly it could have been a lot more. Perhaps something with psychotic hallucinations or something that way.
There are some suprises though and some suspense, but it gets predictable and annoying. Also the mutants are really unbelievable and flatout boring. Besides, fucking bears? Also the characters walk through every goddamn bush, waterpools and materials which are highly irriated. Which makes no sense, besides it simply exagerates at the end.
The soundtrack was great though, I enjoyed the music a lot.
Finally, this movie has a lot of wasted potential that could have been used differently. At the end of the movie you simply want to get things over.
just came off as an asshole
True, he's not a character I particularly like personally, but the fact that it felt real just amazed me.
The Stunt Man 10/10

bro you should have known that this was from the makers of Paranormal Activity, it was destined to be shit from the beginning.

I don't think Rusty has even seen it.
Equilibrium - 10/10 I honestly enjoyed the entire movie. Really great story, acting, setting.
It's almost in the top 250.
:suicide:
If it's a good film whose to say otherwise???
Anyway saw the new Spiderman - 7.5/10 - Really rather enjoyed it, Andrew Garfield is great as Peter Parker. Although never before have the trailers ruined as much of a film before for me god damn.
Why is there so much Ted bashing in this thread? Honestly, anywhere else I go on the internet is saying it was surprising how much they enjoyed it.
It's a fucking comedy, stop judging it like an art piece or something that is trying to do more then what it should. You guys also need to stop looking at review scores as the end all be all of what is good and what is bad. Rather than scrolling past that "wall of text" to get a number read the fucking thing. The movie is giving our culture exactly what it wants; men who do not want to grow up.
It is our current go to plot for the last several years and in a world were we get rehashed bullshit thrown at us left and right why can you not give the movie a chance? I mean really, would you rather have more shitty Adam Sandler movies?
Just to note, I have not seen the movie yet but I plan to asap. The only way I can see myself agreeing with you who choice to go ape shit over the damn thing is if it completely sucks, like badly. Jack and Jill badly.

The rapper Common has said that he likes Ted and I refuse to endorse anything approved of by the rapper Common on principle

It just annoys me to no end that amazing movies like Moonrise Kingdom barely make back their budget, yet lazy unoriginal pieces of shit like Ted break the bank.
I dunno, I get the feeling that if I watch anything with Seth MacFarlane in it, I might painfully bleed to death through my eyes and ears while vomiting my kidneys and other vital organs all over the screen.
You make a good point scot. I also do not understand how that movie has gone so unnoticed.
