The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951): 9.3/10
Which of you son of the bitch said that Apocalypse Now is good movie?! It was full of SHIT, and it was fucking THREE HOURS! End of this movie is worse than my grandmothers burying video-tape.
All of us.
Which of you son of the bitch said that Apocalypse Now is good movie?! It was full of SHIT, and it was fucking THREE HOURS! End of this movie is worse than my grandmothers burying video-tape.
I'm Spartacus.
Just saw LA confidential, 10/10 (11/10 after playing LA noire) This movie is just everything i like to see in a movie, excellent acting, action and atmosphere. loved every minutes of it. If you didn't see it yet, it's time. (also thanks to this thread to reminds me of all the movies i still need to watch).
Evil Dead II - 8/10 I have yet to see Army of Darkness, which I hear is much much better, at least I think? Tell me if it is or isn't. Evil Dead II involved the same setting as the first film, so it made me lose a bit of interest. The budget was 10 times higher than the first film, so the effects were definitely better, at least visually, even though they had that same cheesiness as from the first. There is plenty of over-the-top violence in this film, and much of it unexpected. Ash, the protagonist, is more badass in this second film, spouting out sarcastic dry one-liners and even[sp]modding his right arm with a chainsaw to replace his cut-off hand.[/sp]Overall, it's a decent watch if you're looking for a cult classic horror film.
Evil Dead II is 9/10 at minimum wow Evil Dead I and II genuinely two of the single greatest films ever made

Evil Dead II is a masterpiece.
The one time I'm more conservative with my ratings and this is what I get? :v: I'll give it a fucking 8. Saw the first before and I definitely enjoyed it as much as the second. Means its a cult classic makes it a bit overrated, at least in my opinion.

Moonrise Kingdom - 10/10 Wes Anderson Has done it again, on par with Life aquatic in my book.
drive 8.5/10 (aka awkward silences: the movie) the plot felt a bit loose, but the performances were absolutely solid. from all the actors. hell, even the kid did a good job - and kids almost never do a good job. the visual style was also pretty awesome. really captured the glowing, almost trippy nature of a late-night drive. the soundtrack was also pretty good (it had a track from chromatics so i'm obligated to say that). the movie did an excellent job with expressing moods - and it could shift from any end of the spectrum without a hitch. action scenes were very, very tense. it's a good film. watch it.
Been watching movies from this list: http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1090378 All of them have been great so far.
I just looked at that list. I have never seen a list of so many movies I have already seen. Literally only noticed maybe 10 I've never heard of. Gonna have to check them out since that list is pretty decent actually.
what the fuck is up with that list? hot fuzz has more votes than shaun? [editline]6th July 2012[/editline] shaun of the dead is clearly the better movie and the most groundbreaking
watched Alien for the first time, had to quadruple check the date of when they released it. i still cant believe that it's from 1979, 10 years after the first moonlanding wtf anyways 9/10. it felt alot like The Thing which was really great

[editline]6th July 2012[/editline] apart from killing zombies with records which was inspired, it's just a good British zombie flick. [editline]6th July 2012[/editline]
(aka awkward silences: the movie)
You have a point, but for some reason I didn't they were any old awkward silence.
Amadeus - 10/10 Brilliant movie, easily one of the best films i've seen.
The Specimen 2/10 It was bad, so bad
Been watching movies from this list: http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1090378 All of them have been great so far.
I wish we could remake this somehow because it was unfinished and sloppy
Serenity 8/10 a good ending to the TV series, which I loved. Also Buried 8/10, found it very exciting considering it takes place in one place the whole time and though I kinda expected the ending it still hit me. [editline]6th July 2012[/editline] Brest Fortress up next I think. [editline]6th July 2012[/editline] Can anyone suggest me a good war movie post 70's something in the fashion of Saving Private Ryan, Thin Red Line, Stalingrad... You know, a movie with a lot of strong action and deep emotions that isn't too cheesy.
Resovoir Dogs 10/10
Last episode of Louie: 9/10. I actually paused the show near the end and yelled "What the fuck?". Great episode of a great show.
The Thing (2011) Meh/10 It was interesting to see a new take on what happened before the 1982 film, but I felt it relied a little too much on cliche, and near the end felt like it was straight out of alien, not in a good way. The scene where it's silhouette is behind her through an over the shoulder view, with the following actions is a blatant rip from Alien. The effects were pretty good for CGI, although some of the charm for me in the original were the puppets and props. And I did like how they showed how they thought the things they discovered in the original Norwegian camp to get there. (Axe, two-headed Monster). But they skipped a few and threw out the entire helicopter chase from the beginning of the original and left out the suicide. All of the missing pieces could be due to it actually following the story, I haven't read it so I'm not sure. Basically I liked the 1982 version because it was a humble hardy group in an isolated location fighting off a horrific monster, with plenty of trust issues and paranoia. The ending just kind of sucked, the space ship scene is just a huge shift that ruins the feeling of the rest of the movie.
exactly how is it groundbreaking?
being one of the first if not the first zombie romantic comedy. hot fuzz was a buddy cop movie taking the piss out of buddy cop movies. still wonderful, but shaun will always be number 1 [editline]6th July 2012[/editline]
Last episode of Louie: 9/10. It was a nice change compared to teen horror movies, the idea was unique and the movie made me confused several times in a positive way. I'll give the movie a 9/10.
being one of the first if not the first zombie romantic comedy.
big deal. zombie movie romantic comedy two cliches mashed together to make a good, fun movie, but nothing life-affirming.
Just watched Moon, can't believe I just heard of/saw it. Really enjoyed the concept and the way it was presented.
big deal. zombie movie romantic comedy two cliches mashed together to make a good, fun movie, but nothing life-affirming.
Is this the bit where you tell us you haven't seen either of them?
Is this the bit where you tell us you haven't seen either of them?
dude, I like Simon Pegg's comedy. But realistically, they've been propped up to be the best. I'm glad that alien thing they did wasn't propped up as much.
