i don't even want to ask if you've seen spaced or not.
you know the show is still running right?
and which season are you talking about? iirc there's a third season but only the first two are on netflix instant.
also i dont have television, at all. so pardon my ignorance
Yes I know it's still running and I'm talking about the last episode aired of season 3.
dude, I like Simon Pegg's comedy. But realistically, they've been propped up to be the best.
I'm glad that alien thing they did wasn't propped up as much.
Understand the difference between saying something's bad, and saying something's overrated.

but still, Hot Fuzz is better than Shaun.
I just like all the little things in Hot Fuzz.
The film is far more than the sum of it's parts.
Cleanskin 7/10
Quite like it. Bean is a total badass.
Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever - 1/10
Jesus Christ.

I still think the first cabin fever was a good horror.

Hot Fuzz has more laughs per second, but I think Shaun's the better movie.
Requiem for a Dream
Overall a great and well made film thats incredibly disconcerting, especially the last 20 minutes, its practically a 20 minute montage of misery and despair.
superfly
9/10 i love blaxploitation movies
also "answer me, you white-looking.." *guy wheels around and punches him*
too good
[editline]7th July 2012[/editline]
also, this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3gNQ2KYCb4
9/10. narrator's great, the lovecraft references are hysterical. it's like 13 minutes, worth watching for anyone who hasn't seen it
I gotta see Superfly, I have listened to the soundtrack for so long now (thank god for Curtis) I really should have.
begotten is a good movie too, please see that.
Just because it attempts to be all deep and artsy through shock value and disgusting imagery doesn't make it good. Being "deep and beautiful" means little when the movie is a mass of disgusting and nonsensical shit that is basically a big interpretive play
Been watching movies from this list:
http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1090378
All of them have been great so far.
The fact that Alien and Aliens are so fucking low and Fight Club is the highest (typical angst film I suppose) is a little disconcerting and typical.

Well now you're being foolish.
You watched an experimental movie and you're complaining about how it's nonsensical. :v:
experimental doesn't mean it has to be nonsensical too
Heres my opinion, subject to change.
[sp]Were the patterns really an invitation?
They were a trap to try out a bioweapon. As soon as humans were developed enough to travel space it was the trigger to test it out.
How did these ancient people even know about the pattern?
Maybe they were still in touch with the aliens in ancient times, maybe the ancients were helping them to develop ahead of animals. The ancient drawings seemed to indicate the ancients worshipped beings from the stars like in stargate.
How do they know the engineers created them, and WHY would they even think of that hypothesis?
They didn't know for sure, it was all guessing and suggestion. There was evidence enough to send a ship to find out
Why does the old man think he can get eternal life?
Because if you were to meet your maker then theres no reason to think your maker couldn't make you young again, it was a chance to live on, he was desperate.
What did the infected guy turn into? (the scientist)
A mong, the dna of the goo was a volatile one and David was testing it to see what it did.
And why did one of the infected guys (the scottish one) become a zombie?
He turned into what the scientist would have done if Vickers hadn't flame grilled him.
Why was he in such an awkward position outside the ship?
He was a modified human with attributes of the alien that attacked him, this is why he had become strong.
What was the worm that came out of the infected scientist's eye?
Perhaps not real or maybe a by product from the mix of alien and human dna.
What was that black goo?
Some kind of organic bioweapon that fucks your anatomy up.
Why did the engineers want to destroy the humans?
They just wanted to test their new weapon but it seemed some of them either had a change of mind or like the captain said, they lost control of it.
What was the alien's motivation?
He was determined to finish the experiment with the bioweapon.
Why did that guy's head explode?
They injected it with something that reacted badly.
Why would Vickers have a medical thing in her room that's only for male patients?
It was for her dad.
Is Shaw going to find her answers?
I doubt Scott is going to do a sequel.
Why are there so many species of aliens?
Because they've been mixed and dna modified. Final alien was a product of scientists fucking and making a new alien and it finally mixing with the engineer. It is clear the matter they are experimenting with is highly adaptable and volatile when mixed with other creatures.[/sp]
Any film that causes so much debate and questions can only be a great film.
you doubt scott is going to do a sequel even though he said he was going to do a sequel
experimental doesn't mean it has to be nonsensical too
it doesn't have to be a regular style of movie either.
I didn't think it was nonsensical though since there's really not much to it, perhaps the imagery was a bit too over the top for people to think about what was going on.
It's like saying Eraserhead is bad because it's too weird.
[editline]7th July 2012[/editline]
Hot Fuzz has more laughs per second, but I think Shaun's the better movie.
They're both hilarious, but Hot Fuzz just feels the more ruthless.
i wasn't arguing that. no matter what, a prerequisite of every movie
is that it has to make sense
[editline]7th July 2012[/editline]
i'm not saying anything about weird. i'm saying SENSE
[editline]7th July 2012[/editline]
although I wouldn't rate eraserhead very highly either
have you seen the plot of the movie?
i've seen the movie if that's what you mean and i wasn't much of a fan
[editline]7th July 2012[/editline]
eraserhead i mean, not begotten
We're talking about Begotten. It's a lot more insane than Eraserhead...
Something can be experimental, experimentation is great. But if it doesn't make sense, then it's a failed experiment.
Last movie i watched was Memento. It was pretty good, i didn't find it too confusing, although there wasn't really as much plot-twist type stuff as i expected. 7/10.
Last movie i watched was Memento. It was pretty good, i didn't find it too confusing, although there wasn't really as much plot-twist type stuff as i expected. 7/10.
That's what I thought when I watched it years and years ago. Then I watched it again and I couldn't believe the things I didn't pick up on.
black dynamite 7.5/10
"euphoria SHUT THE FUCK UP i know that was you
i ain't even gotta LOOK
i should send you to CRENSHAW PETE with his hot-ass coat hangers, bitch
WOULD YOU LIKE THAT?"

The Amazing Spider-Man: 7.5/10
Pretty well casted, I liked the way it panned out generally and the direction it's going. What I didn't like so much was that some of Spidey's humor fell a mite flat at times, and the fact that it retread a lot of ground Sam Raimi's film covered, making it feel a bit too familiar.
Can't really compare it to Sam Raimi's feature, though I'd say it stands on its own as a film perfectly fine; there have certainly been worse reboots.
Just saw Project X, I give it an 8/10, I know you guys seem to hate these kinds of movies, but it was a fun film, funny, entertaining, I liked it a bunch.
Dumbs for liking a movie, stay classy.
Is Mama Mia the movie any good?
i've seen the movie if that's what you mean and i wasn't much of a fan
[editline]7th July 2012[/editline]
eraserhead i mean, not begotten
Yeah I hated Eraserhead it was such a drag of a film and had no plot, made no sense. I get that it's "experimental" but it's more just dumb honestly.
Begotten on the other hand I was actually impressed with and thought it was good. I didn't really understand what it meant at first but I looked into it a little bit and it all makes sense and fits together well. I'll need to watch it again since I now know what it all means.
