You know, you could just rate people 'disagree' when you don't agree with their opinions about a movie.
Whenever I see someone rate a movie highly, and I've seen the movie myself, and it wasn't quite the best movie ever, I can always tell who that lonesome box is from.
no responding is better anyway a disagree is just "no i dont agree with you" but if you reply you can actually say why you disagree and actually discuss things I mean isn't that what a forum is all about?? Ive not seen Iron Sky but yea it looks p terrible
i liked iron sky. my favorite scene was when that black guy, now unknowingly turned white by nazi scientists, goes to mingle with some black people shooting hoops.
In Bruges
10/10
I'm just going to review 5 movies i watched recently
Cidade de Deus (City of God)
Foreign Language movie 9/10
One of the best gang crime films made. I really enjoyed it and how every character is this shade of grey that makes them all likable. Except Lil'Ze fuck that guy
Also featuring one of the best Chekhov's Gun ever
Unforgiven 10/10
I would say the movie deserves it, but deserves got nothing to do with it. An amazing revisionist western that is a must-watch if you enjoy westerns.
Watch Once Upon a Time in The West too
Se7en 8/10
Gave me this very-Manhunter vibe, as in the Michael Mann movie. I felt unsettled by it all, although the Pride murder seemed a little rushed through. The fact that the murderer was Kevin Spacey (John Doe), reminded me of Tom Noonan (Francis Dollarhyde), in that these were intensely "normal" seeming people who were secretly very screwed up
Eastern Promises 8/10
holy shit that steam bathhouse scene. It made my balls shrink so -2 points for that. As usual, David Cronenberg manages to make you feel intensely uncomfortable with your body, although it has gotten more subtle over the years. I felt the twist could have been a bit more hard-hitting, it was kind of obvious that Viggo Mortenson was hiding something
The Way of The Gun 6/10
I was expecting a better story from the guy who wrote The Usual Suspects. And not oh no everyone is related to everyone, that shit only happens in Taiwanese drams and last I checked, Benecio Del Toro was not a Taiwanese. It seemed more like a classic action movie surrounded by 2hr of build-up with hard-hitting questions like "what the hell is a bag-man" ,"Is James Caan a lawyer" and "since when were Mexican police so efficient"
Sarah Silverman gets punched in the face so there's that
In conclusion, 1995 was one of the best crime movie years with Heat, The Usual Suspects, Se7en and 12 Monkeys
are you really complaining about ratings
[editline]16th July 2012[/editline]
if i think a movie isn't just bad, but also really dumb, then i'll rate it accordingly
Well, it's there for a reason, right?
You just come across as one of those people that believes their opinion is the 'right' one, and therefore everyone else's must be dumb, and wrong.
Anyways, don't bother replying to this, because I don't feel like dragging this on.
To take this back on-topic:
The Grey - 7/10
Chopping Mall (1986)
For being called Chopping Mall, having "half off is just the beginning, and boxart/posters featuring severed limbs, this film had far too little gore and limbs being torn off. Like, there's pretty much none of that at all, except for a scene where some chick's head explodes. Apart from that, the film's baddies, several security bots gone bad, used lasers wtf.
bad film/10
The Blues Brothers (1980)
Great film. I love the crazy amount of cars that are totaled in this film. It held the record for biggest car pile-up, until Blues Brothers 2000 topped it.
8/10
Contact (1997)
An okay film. Hilariously cheesy at times, especially when Jodie Foster meets the president of that space corporation, whom is presented like a Bond-villain or something.
Also, [sp]why didn't they notice Foster's recording being almost 18 hours long, before all that stuff in court? I mean before the court stuff Foster even asked them to check the footage and they said "ye it's just static." didn't they notice when playing the file that it was tremendously longer than the few seconds? wouldt they react to its filesize?[/sp]
6.5/10
I'm pretty sure Blues Brothers has the greatest car chase in film history

You're missing the point bro. You're acting as if the movie is about how the public react to what people experience, where as I reckon it's more to do with what the individual experienced.
It had nothing to do with "convincing" people it was true, but rather seeing beliefs through other people's eyes. I reckon it had a very good point to make.
Source Code
Timecop rapes Minority report and has twins, the good one was Groundhog Day and the bad one was Source Code. America, fuck yeah!
It passed the time on a rainy day I guess.
Stephen King's The Langolier's.
Three hours long, but every engaging. It had me on the edge of my seat throughout most of the movie. It was a totally bizarre and unexpected ending as well (but that should be expected from a Sci-fi movie about time travel)

SCARING THE LITTLE GIRL
The Secret in Their Eyes (2009)
What has Argentina given the world? Economic ruin, dirty football and a current president who is pointlessly using the Falkinds to whip up nationalism to get herself re-elected.... and this film which is quite a shock considering the above.
This story starts with a retired prosecutor in the courts who has questions about an old case which is hampering a novel he's trying to write so he starts looking into the past.
I wasn't expecting much but the story was fantastic, there are two intertwined stories that are driven by the same thing and as the films characters have revelations, the theme of the film becomes clearer. So many thrillers are films by numbers but somehow this one uses a much more delicate undertone to hold it up above its counterparts.
I recommend this film, AK should like this one, assuming you have not already seen it.
Second this. Great fucking movie
8/10 Lost In Translation - A good movie, felt like I've seen plenty of movies this type before though. This time it had Bill Murray as the burned out adult!
Law Abiding Citizen
7/10
ending was slightly weak imo
Fucking shit ending
[sp]That black lawyer should had died[/sp]
Machine Gun Preacher
Story of a loser who finds the church and ends up on a mission to save the child soldiers of Sudan and Uganda through his orphanage. Gerard Butler is perfect as the leading role and support is fine too. The scenes in Africa are realistic but its amazing how the bad guys are easy to kill yet the good guys seem bulletproof. Don't go in expecting a classic but its a good true story with the usual hollywood moments.
Worth a watch.
Two friends of mine are but I can't be arsed with superhero films. Nolan's a great film maker but I'm not a fan of Batman. Good luck.
Anyone else going to the a midnight screening of "The Dark Knight Rises"?
I'm gonna be working the midnight
cue dumbass customers spoiling the movie for me because I should have somehow already seen it despite working the premiere
In Bruges
10/10
It isn't a movie I come back to every few months, but it's still one of my most loved movies.
something made me not like that movie.
That's good to know.
Apocalypse Now Redux
My first time seeing this in any form, surprisingly I had managed to avoid spoilers for it up until this point and thought I might as well watch it now before I ruin it for myself eventually. Dear fucking lord it's good. No, great. One of the best films I've ever seen great. It's over 3 hours long but it feels like it deserves it, the performances, writing, cinematography and set pieces are all pretty much perfect. Truly epic in every sense of the word.
10/10
saw The Secret in their Eyes.
Yeah I know I planned to see El Topo but I thought fuck it.
This is one heck of a movie... it's a stroke of genius. I struggle to find the words because there are moments on it that are staggeringly good. Towards the end though, something made me realise that this was going to be a rare occassion when I'll call a movie a modern masterpiece.
[sp]It's the part where "I fear" is changed to "I love you" by just the addition of the letter A[/sp]
i owe you one jewdoser.
Rango: 5.5/10
The Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas references were charming, the western setting wasn't bad and the main character was kind of interesting, but...
eh
man fuck that, I loved Rango
The villain's first appearance was p powerful, shut up even the noisy kids in the audience. I enjoyed just about everything about that movie.
It was a solid western with great humor and interesting characters.
The Machinist 7/10
Mr. Nobody 9/10
The Darjeeling Limited 8.5/10
rango was a better western than most westerns have been for a few years despite being a cartoon with animals
It isn't a movie I come back to every few months, but it's still one of my most loved movies.
First time I've ever seen it and it was bloody well done. The funny scenes were fucking hilarious, the serious more emotional scenes were done really well, too. The dwarf? Just... I don't think I even need to explain that.
All in all it was just great. The ending scene was just perfect too - definitely the cherry on the cake.
