Come and See is great. I liked the first half a lot though, but yeah you're probably right. Moneyball is pretty good. Not bad tbh.
Thanks. You're not a bad cinephile either it seems.I've seen lots of your recommendations and its good to know how you feel about moneyball. I'll deffinetly check it.
Sophie Scholl (2005) True story about a group of treasonous students who print and distribute leaflets against the Fuhrer's third reich. Naturally they get caught which is where the film pretty much kicks off. The questioning and interrogations are interesting but its the trial where the full force of national socialism comes into play. The film is an excellent tribute to those who worked so hard to make a better world, shame it all got a bit fucked up. Heil Hitler/10
I'll be sure to watch that. :)
Batman Begins 9/10 Really enjoyed it. Up next is dark knight :v:
Batman: Under the Red Hood - 9/10 Shit's good, yo. Best Batman animated movie imo.
saw a movie from 2004... called Crash. Truly superb. It pretty much shows how people challenge themselves in how to treat people of a different race. It reminds me of Babel, albeit that one was a lot stronger and more aimed at cultural conflict rather than racial. Performances... were supreme no other word for it. People may not realise but the cast is pretty much allstar. Including a neglected Matt Dillon who is also great.
I liked Crash, but i dunno, I felt like its prejudice-theme was a bit too overwhelming and at times distracting.
It may overwhelm most people, to be fair it isn't for everyone either. But to me, it does more for racial harmony than any Spike Lee movie. One thing it's not, is a run of the mill drama. Not many people enjoyed Babel as much as I did either, because it was overwhelming in how different cultures came together. [editline]26th July 2012[/editline] I can just see people watch it and feel uncomfortable. I just sat through it and laughed when it was funny and understood how subtle racism became. [editline]26th July 2012[/editline] It's a lot more difficult to understand races as compared to cultures. [editline]26th July 2012[/editline]
This Must Be The Place (2011) A really charming charming movie, but pretty slow. Some might get bored just because of the fact that it takes a while for things to happen. Sean Penn does a great job with portraying a lost, lonely and depressed rockstar. Worth watching. 8/10
this... doesn't seem like a movie Sean Penn would do.
when [sp]Joseph Gordon Levitt is visiting Bruce Wayne and tells him about the underground army Gordon saw in the sewer, Bruce Wayne goes "have you told anyone else about this?" and Jospeh Gordon Levitt says "Yeah and they asked whether he saw a gigantic crocodile as well"[/sp]
Pretty sure that's just meant to be a reference to the myth that crocodiles can live in sewers but it could be that I guess.
Just watched Prometheus, and I thought it was a pretty good movie. I always liked movies about shit like that, and the fact that it tied into the alien series a bit was even better, really. It's an interesting universe they created, and Prometheus explained a little bit more of it.
Pretty sure that's just meant to be a reference to the myth that crocodiles can live in sewers but it could be that I guess.
I'm pretty sure it was a nice little joke about [sp]Killer croc[/sp]. They way it's said and everything.

Yeah prometheus answered hardly any questions and just raised a fucking ridiculous amount Its story was wafer thin with a pathetic amount of plot holes and it felt rushed as hell horribly disappointing
disappointing, but IMO still a good movie it'd probably be better if it wasn't connected to the alien movies or something like that
Sucker Punch (2011) 6/10 Either I'm terrible at understanding this film or Zack Snyder was high while making this.
disappointing, but IMO still a good movie it'd probably be better if it wasn't connected to the alien movies or something like that
Thing is though they wanted it to be a prequel then decided to make it a stand alone film but just in the same universe, and by doing that they carried over elements of both ideas and turned the whole film into a messy clusterfuck that made no sense I mean at least they retconned and fixed that terrible thing that Alien v predator brought up about the Xenomorphs' existence (made to hunt on by the predators?? really???) but that film was terrible so I ignored it anyway. Also the scene at the end [sp]where they're running from the ship[/sp] I couldn't help but legitimately laugh at that and then [sp]Charlize Theron mega-bitch who I fucking hate with a passion got crushed even after she thought she got away that was just satisfying and hilarious[/sp] it wasnt a terrible movie if you take it as some shallow action sci-fi flick but the thing is that's not what it was meant to be, but it's what it ended up being, so I think in terms of what it was trying to achieve it failed and fell flat on its face. Even those dumb people who give no shits about a good story or character development (srs I gave NO SHITS about anyone in prometheus, only one I kinda did was [sp]that guy who turned into some invincible zombie thing when David spiked his drink for no fuckin reason, and turning him into some zombie was really shit I hated that scene[/sp] would be disappointed because there's not a lot of action or anything in it. It looked nice but the aliens looked shit it was a crappy squid and a snake and I'm pretty sure that's all there is in the whole film except [sp] at the end with the xenomorph which looked absolutely pathetic, weak and vulnerable which is totally against how it's been portayed in all 4 alien films [/sp] ffs I enjoyed watching it but I still think it was a bad film because it totally failed at doing what it tried to do and just left so many questions that it was absolutely ridiculous, when the whole point was to fucking answer the questions but instead it just raised more
it's lindelof's fault anyway, the guy wrote Lost, he likes to drag shit on longer than it needs to be. ridley you punk motherfucker you better come out with a director's cut of prometheus. i want it to be at least three hours long.

Babel follows a group of characters who are loosely connected who's actions cause things to happen, a similar concept to the butterfly effect. Crash was wonderful because it challenged our view of racism and made us understand why some people think that way. Loved both of those films a lot.
Maniac Cop 6/10 Nothing amazing but not horrendous either. Ending's a bit of a bummer and there's some seriously dumb make-up fuck-ups during the course of the movie but it's decent entertainment
that film needed more Bruce Campbell screen time because iirc he didn't have a whole lot despite being one of the main characters and by far the best actor in the film lol

Gwoemul(The Host) - 6.5/10
The silence of the lambs 9/10
The Dark Knight 10/10 next up, the dark knight rises :v:
Fracture - 8/10 It was pretty good, some loopholes, but overall was a pretty decent film in the end. I guessed what he did at the beginning of the movie though.
Watched homeward Bound with the nephew today, oh god even after 10+ years I still tear up from it. Really good movie from my childhood.
you know what's fucking weird... i watched prometheus but not any of the other alien's. i think i saw bits of one of em on tv, but yeah i have to get on that.
saw Flowers of Shanghai. It's a tough one. It's incredibly beautiful, but it's not like anything I've seen, in terms of character and story. It's fairly straight forward as far as the overall theme is about, a brothel/s with "flowers" doing hard drugs eg. opium as if it's the best way to pass the time. Then the males drink a lot. It's not so much a tough watch though, in fact very soothing. But in terms of culture and why things occur, it'll need some good thinking about.
The Escapist 8/10 amazing and underrated, ending almost made me tear up ;-;
Dark Knight Rises 3/5. Started of good but then it became 'meh'. Bane was really cool but his voice was a bit off, sounded like he was speaking through some big ass speakers rather than trough his mask.
