Spartacus (1960): 100/100
Stanley Kubrick, once again, directs one of the greatest films ever. Simply amazing, Kirk Douglas's performance is wonderful, and I think it has some of the best action scenes in any movie ever. Everything in this film is done extremely well, from the acting, to the writing, to the music, and, of course, the directing. I am also impressed by how the film continues to be interesting and captivating after over 3 hours. I can't wait to see the last two Kubrick films I haven't yet seen, Lolita and Eyes Wide Shut.
The Amazing Spider Man
8/10 not bad, better than the last ones they did. But that first part of the movie, there was so much spaghetti I could nearly smell it.
would you reckon it's a movie a 6 year old could see and not be traumatized?
he's seen jurassic park.
If he's seen Jurassic Park he can definitely see The Amazing Spider Man.

that's what I'm saying but apparently the "gun violance" and "lizard action" is too intense for a kid.
He's seen the first 3 spiderman movies too.. I see no reason to be worried about the new one.. unless it's brutal.
ATM 1/10
Interesting concept but a terrible movie.
Killer Joe
8.5/10
A seriously excellent dark comedy/thriller. If you have a chance to see it, definitely do it.
I'll write up a little review later on maybe.

Love it
Dances with Wolves - 10/10
One out of only three movies I'd give 10/10.

It had some great characters and a decent story but I couldn't help being weirded out by the whole [sp]mother being turned into a bear thing.[/sp]

it sucks that he only directed about half the movie, i imagine had he done the whole film it would have been even better.
Battleship 2/10
fucking horrendous
it sucks that he only directed about half the movie, i imagine had he done the whole film it would have been even better.
He directed most of it, the first director only did the first few opening scenes I believe.
[editline]5th August, 2012[/editline]
Yeah, Douglas fired the first director after the first week and got Kubrick.
Fargo 8.5/10
Such a great movie.
Does anyone know any additional info on whether it's (based on) a true story or not? IMDB says the "this is a true story" at the beginning is just to set a tone, but doesn't make it absolutely clear, as it points out 2 cases in Minnesota that are very similar to the movie's storyline...
Ironclad
The story of the tyrannical King John of England vs his barons at the seige of Rochester castle.
What a pile of fucking shit that even a ferocious speech from Paul Giamatti couldn't save. Avoid this film unless you like sword fights with gore and predictable delivery. If they are going to fuck with history, don't wrap it up in a nice bow so the stupid section of cinema goers lap it up like a 5 dollar crack whore, sniffing coke from the head of my fathers bellend. I hated this film.

Even if the action is good, how do you give a movie a 7/10 with a plot that is about as enthralling as watching shit harden?
Ironclad
It wasn't that bad. Although without Giamatti it would have been pretty dull.

Sorry but I'd rather watch my own murder than sit through that again.
Jut watched Rushmore on FX. It's just not the same with censoring. :(
[editline]6th August 2012[/editline]
Still, it's a fantastic movie. 9.5/10.
The Thing from 1982 I think, 8/10 really good I loved it. The sounds and the 'thing' is done very well among other things.

[editline]8th july 2012[/editline]
oh and The Woman in Black (2011) 6/10
the scares were the worst part, ive had enough of these cheap horror tricks
Was in a bit of a volcano mood today:
Volcano - 4/10. For some reason, I remembered it being a hell of a lot better than it was.
Dante's Peak - 8/10. I still enjoy this one though; it's not dead-on accurate, but at least it tries. And I actually think Pierce Brosnan did a good job in this one.
The Watch
3/10
vince vaughan tried so hard in this movie. everyone else was kind of natural in their unfunniness but Vince really, really tried. and it was all the worse for it. stop casting these morons in movies please
the how isnt as important as the why
just another reason alien 4 was terrible
Oh yeah I watched American Psycho.
It was really good. I liked the way a few characters were developed before they were killed off to give it more emotion than most movies like this. Patrick Bateman was also a great character.
28 Days Later. 10/10. I loved the apartment building's stairs scene. It was very intense when they ran out of breath but they had to keep going up because the infected were on the bottom floor, coming up fast.
Woody Allen's Love and Death
Woody Allen, you so silly. :-)
