Magic Mike 6/10
I think the story was pretty decent, I was actually pretty surprised how the story was structured, I just assumed it would just be one and a half hours of just men stripping.
Lolita (1962): 97/100
Just about everything I said for Spartacus is true for Lolita. Not much else to say except it was great. Awesome movie to watch on my birthday. Really looking forward to Eyes Wide Shut tomorrow.
Unfortunately I can't see the word lolita without thinking of you know what.

vince vaughan tried so hard in this movie. everyone else was kind of natural in their unfunniness but Vince really, really tried. and it was all the worse for it. stop casting these morons in movies please
How was Richard Ayoade?
How was Richard Ayoade?
he was the most tolerable because he talked the least
other than that I didnt really find him to be all tha remarkable.
Snatch 9/10
Goodfellas
9/10. Great movie, would have been better if they stretched it out over a trilogy like The Godfather since it seemed very rush.

i very much disagree with this. it closed off very well, and since it's a true story.. i don't get what it could possibly to by extending it.
But I do recommend "Casino" if you liked that.
Ted 3/10
It's funny how I disappointed I was even though I know it's made by Seth MacFarlane. This is new levels of not funny.

I watched it high and thought 'This is HILARIOUS' so I'm banking on it being awful

I didn't even think I'd like it very much
how come?
King Kong (2005) Extended Edition - 6/10...
Haven't seen the movie in about 5 years, friend had the Director's Cut so I figured what the hell.
It really doesn't add a whole lot except for a really great river raft sequence and more dinosaurs and bugs.
Wasn't a huge fan of the movie to begin with as it's overlong with way too much unnecessary filler, contains a horribly miscast Jack Black, and the excessive use of slow mo.
But, I loved Naomi Watts, Andrien Brody, and the Ann & Kong relationship(except for that fucking stupid ice skating scene).
The New York sequence as a whole was pretty great though.
The CGI has held up really well.
The music is pretty great.
I just really can't stand how fucking long it is and it doesn't help that I really never gave a shit about any of the characters save for Ann, Kong, and Jack.
Won't be watching it again for a very long time that's for sure.
dude, to me... king kong climbs building, the end.
Superbad 9/10
haven't had so much fun in a while.
Magnolia 10/10
Paul thomas andersons movies arent just movies, they're 3 hour long experiences, pure brilliance
gonna watch Boogie Nights next and can't wait for The Master.
probably one of my favourite directors of all time

The Reader - 8/10
Very emotional and depressing. I liked it.
Eyes Wide Shut: 100/100
This is the weirdest film I have ever seen, but I absolutely loved it. The talk between Tom Cruise and Sydney Pollack towards the end was great, because what Pollack said was just so unexpected, and it was a very nice surprise. The ending was also satisfying. I also thought the music choice couldn't have been better, and Stanley Kubrick did a wonderful job directing it. Kubrick certainly did try to make this film perfect, as he did with all of his other movies, and all I can say is that it's a shame he died and can't make any more great movies such as this.
Gran Torino 7/10
I think its a bit overrated

If thats the case then you'll find the enlightenment in Snatch
Wich in fact it is

Haven't seen this one, but it's hard to believe it's weirder than Kubrick's other masterpiece, A Clockwork Orange...
Eyes Wide Shut wasn't weird at all...
You people have no clue what people do. It's a movie about orgies.
I kind of thought of it as a film about the dehumanization of sex. At least at it's core.
It's a movie about sensuality, not the surreality of sex. That being said, it's highly enjoyable for what it is.
Eyes wide shut was about a lot of things.
I loved the power shift and the play off between Kidman and Cruise where she totally took control by making him think she didn't give a shit, causing him to almost go off the rails a bit to prove something to himself. Anyone who loves films misses Kubrick.
Just saw V/H/S.
Strange shit, expected cheap scares, but didnt get any, just that fucking eerie mood.
A handheld with awesome effects and shitty effects. 6/10 - if you have patience you should give it a try, though it doesnt need to be fucking 2 hours.
Total Recall remake: 7/10
The art/set design was amazing in this movie but the plot/acting wasn't as memorable as the first one.
The Dark Knight: 7/10
It was okay, everything was done right, but nothing really "popped" like it did in the first Dark Knight. The Joker, despite his plan being less "evil" was still more effective both due to amazing acting and writing. He had ambiguity, and that made him more scary, as humans naturally have a fear of the unknown and cannot relate to someone if they do not know his troubled past.
Plus Anne Hathaway seemed out of place in her role. It wasn't her fault, Catwoman was just unnecessary and really only here because "HOLY SHEET CATWOMAN I REMEMBER HER" and therefore didn't have a hell of a lot to do other than a very obvious character arc that you saw coming from the beginning.
agree with catwoman, disagree with your overall rating !! it was an excellent film despite it's flaws
agree with catwoman, disagree with your overall rating !! it was an excellent film despite it's flaws
For me, it's like the first Portal. Everybody loves it and while I cannot find any major flaws in it, I still don't really like it. Something just doesn't "pop" Nothing got me very hooked or interested, but maybe that was just sleep taking it's toll and making me generally apathetic.
