whats your number is the most insulting, by the numbers, disgusting piece of schlock ever
You're entitled to your opinion. I thought it was alright, nothing to pay 11 bucks for in theaters though. I got it for free from Redbox.
This is what i mean though, i would rate a movie higher if i can re-watch it and feel the same tension, humour or fear that i did when i first watched it. When i re-watch alien for example I find it even scarier than the first time because of the build-up, and the inevitable end, the only thing ruined is that i know who survives.
As far as the hangover goes, i felt the jokes where well executed but cheap, meaning that they where formulated in such a way that when you rewatch it, the humour value is lost because all the jokes where "oh shit, when did i do X" and you already know what x is and how so the joke is ruined. I can rewatch airplane however because the jokes are timeless, and they dont get unfunny after the first watch, in fact I am always "this is the good bit!" and the line dont call me shirley.
However, i did call the motional side of viewing more subjective, You may feel re-watch-ability is not so important, But in my opinion it is, which is why i rate accordingly on that part. Emotion is so hard to gage from person to person as we are all individually so unique.

the hangover is never funny

the "Dr Faggot" joke is possibly the worst, most cringe-worthy comedic experience I've ever had.
Geez, that was only an example, I couldn't think of anything better. What I meant is, the reason why The Hangover is funny (FOR SOME PEOPLE), is that almost everything is based on surprise. [sp]oh hey, I'm just here hanging around trying to find out what happened last night- oh no, a tiger! <-part where you should laugh[/sp], that's what makes it "funny". If you watch it again, you definitely won't feel the same way.
A movie like Forrest Gump gives the same feeling [sp](oh wow, it was him that created the smiley face)[/sp], but the whole joke isn't based on that, it's why it's still funny if you watch it again.
It's pretty much what Mixed sources said, the jokes were cheap. However, I don't think that this makes a movie bad (ok, maybe it does in this case), just different.
3:10 to Yuma - 8/10
I enjoyed most of the film but it was fairly predictable and other than the main bloke and the guy they were escorting most of the characters are pretty two dimensional.

The tiger wasn't funny at all. Don't tell me when I should laugh at mediocre comedy.
The Hangover wasn't awful, but it wasn't good and it definately doesn't deserve the attention it got.

Yeah but it's not a movie "for some people", it's plain mediocre comedy.
well I was just hoping you'd get my example instead of discussing something unrelated
Haha, it wasn't the worst movie. You gotta like Nick Swardson.
No.
Yes.
I meant you gotta be a fan of Nick Swardson to enjoy the movie the least bit, otherwise you'd hate it.

Let me quote... well, you.

How interesting that that wasn't there when I made the post.
We posted at the same time. You were ninja'd. I edited it the second I realized I wasn't being clear about it.
Anyone seen Tower Heist?
I hated machete. Hobo with a shotgun was so much better
I get where you're coming from for sure, but I just like Danny Trejo a bunch, and I don't know, I guess a bit of me could just be thinking that because I watched them together. I need to watch Hobo by itself.
Watching the Black Book tonight, some foreign film idk, will post thoughts later.

I saw it. Was enjoyable, not worth a buy, but worth a watch.
Okay thanks. I'll check it out.
I am legend- 9/10
Seemed more of a drama than an action/horror. I almost cried when [sp] when he had to kill the dog...[/sp]
That was always the worst part. Is this the first time you've seen it though?

Ending was fucking terrible and destroyed the entire point of the book
good film absolutely terrible ending
Also went out to see The Woman in Black today. I'm thinking like an 8/10
It was actually a really good film, Daniel Radcliffe was pretty excellent in it and it was actually really quite scary. The jumps were used well (despite there being quite a lot) but the atmosphere was absolutely fantastic the whole way through. Not a typical modern horror film at least. Worth watching I'd say.
Tower Heist - 7/10. Eddie Murphy was the funniest one. Pretty enjoyable movie.
Is drive that good? Should I watch it?
I heard it was amazing, and I also heard it was terrible. Like it drug on and on.
if you like things that require patience and absorbing the atmosphere then go for it. If you're looking for a driving action movie, try Fast Five.

Been meaning to watch this for a while, and now its free on On Demand (at least on directv).
Really cool English alien film that has a sort of Ghostbusters feel to it. Awesome soundtrack as well
I never expected it to be good. For chavreasons, but it's pretty damn good.
i thought it was pretty mediocre, but pretty funny.

I watched that on my MacBook while on the road to Plymouth(south of england). I don't think I could have chosen a better movie to watch on a journey.
I really enoyed it.
I'm watching The Hurt Locker right now. I'm only 10 minutes in and it's already freakin' amazing. Maybe you'd like it, but I'll leave a rating when I'm done.
can you guys recommend me a bunch of movies that are undeniably good?
i'm going for a 5-day holiday with my gf, no internet, not much to do in the city, so movies are a good idea. i got 5 already but it's not even close to being enough
Apocalypse Now Redux
Alien
12 Angry Men (1957)
Witness for the Prosecution (1954)
Frost/Nixon
All I can think of at the moment.
