The Avengers - meh
very good on the technical aspects but the story sucks
as it didn't have any substance to it unlike The Dark Knight Rises
I honestly don't know why people liked it that much.
That Loki bashing scene was so ... out of place, even for a comic-movie.
The Room (2003) .. Oh, god.. - 12/10
fixed your rating, The Room is the best movie ever made by mankind.

Good Burger 9/10. Gave me some Nostalgia
Thirst (2009)
The director of Oldboy decides to have a go at mild horror. A Catholic priest becomes a little restless and lacks meaning in his life so he decides to volunteer for something. To find out more I'd suggest watching the film and not reading anything about it.
The film is very typical of the way Chan Wook Park tells his story, minimum amount of information to keep you concentrating on whats going on. The film hits hard when it needs to and holds back enough to get a deeper understanding of the characters motivations. A few bits throw you off the story where you don't know wtf is going on to the point where we had to wind back a couple of scenes to see if we could pick it back up.
Anyone expecting to watch another Oldboy or one of the vengance films will be let down altho the camera shots have that style and flair which sets Park above his fellow Asian directors. Overall it was a confusing experience at times but certainly a different take on the theme and character the story tells. This was a good film.
Napoleon Dynamite 7.5/10
nailed the awkwardness, overall not bad

I liked the Avengers, but it wasn't amazing. It was really well done for an ensemble cast, about as well as you can do that kind of thing.
That said, the Loki smash scene was prob my (and everyone elses) fave.
500 Days of Summer - 7/10
Not really a fan of romantic comedies, but I quite liked this.

Fake Empire (short film, 2009) - 7/10. Makes some sort of statement about how we're a very consumer-based society, though I'm not sure what. Has a wonderful remix of The National's "Fake Empire".

ah man I fuckin' love Macklemore and Ryan Lewis
Watched a few this week:
The Guard
Boogie Nights
Both good, very Don (Cheedle).
Ace in the Hole
House of Sand and Fog
truly great movies, when luck arrives and I choose movies that are meant for me, then good stuff happens. it's just a shame that they involve people's lives being destroyed. :(
Starship Troopers: Invasion - 5/10
One of the best looking animated movies, featuring the crappiest story of the century and the most horrible voice acting you've ever heard.
A Trip To The Moon (Restoration of the Hand-Colored version)
10/10
Holy shit, I dont think I've ever been this emotionally connected to such a short video before.
It was absolutely magical and hilarious.
"The Right Stuff" 11/10 one of the greatest films I have seen.
Continguing with today's moon theme,
Moon
8.5/10
Very good movie, even if there were some small things that I didn't like.

I really liked it, just the scenes with her family could've been shorter.
Cellular - 5/10
Black Swan - 9.5/10
Letters From Iwo Jima - 9.3/10
Stalker - 9.5/10

I really enjoyed Moon. The plot twist was fantastic, and the actor was good.
saw Before the Devil Knows You're Dead.
Even his very last movie, does things I've not seen in other movies, for example: [sp]when hoffman's wife leaves him, he has the most peaceful breakdown I've ever seen[/sp].
I could also talk about structure, but can't be arsed. Really great movie.
What I'm saying is that as a native Arabic speaker, I picked up on a lot of the words he used. I'm gonna take a wild guess and say you don't know what 5ara means, or labnah, or anything else he said in Arabic? A lot of what he said was made up bullshit, but every now and then he'd use a real Arabic word which really suited the situation, hence making it funny.
rating a movie 10/10 because he sometimes says a few funny words in arabic
rating a movie 10/10 because he sometimes says a few funny words in arabic
No. Rating a movie 10/10 because I found it 10/10.
Grow up. Didn't realize this section was so anal about film ratings.
[editline]2nd September 2012[/editline]
Also, I enjoyed the movie because I personally found it funny. I didn't find it funny purely because he used a few Arabic words.
by removing ratings, i've created no arguments.
I would rate Usual Suspects a 3-4/10 though.
:-)

Sam Rockwell is a tremendously underrated actor, in my opinion.

His portrayal of 'Wild Bill' Wharton in The Green Mile. Best acting I've seen in a damn long time. I couldn't agree more, he is such an underrated actor. Good to see him popping up in more movies as of late, though!
Any of you got any 'movies that make you cringe so hard that you cry at one corner' to suggest?
I've yet to found one.
Seven Pounds, Will Smith acts in it. Really brilliant movie, and it's bound to tug at your heart strings (which I think is what you want, right?). Be warned, it'll make you sad for the remainder of your day.
[editline]2nd September 2012[/editline]
Oh, maybe you want a Horror though, seeing as you said cringe. I don't know :v:
Actually I was referring to movies with extremely bad acting, special effects, etc.
The only one that pushed me to the brink was birdemic.
Goodfellas: 100/100
Incredible film. Among the greatest ever made, in my opinion. The acting was amazing, the writing was great, the use of music was great, and I loved all of it.
