okey, the next movie i'll watch will be those two.
You should watch Bubba Hotep aswell after getting a taste of Bruce's work.
If you're looking for something new that's sad, watch "The Dark Knight Rises".
ha ha what
The entire movie's theme was pain, dude. It was depressing the entire time, plus [sp] that graveyard scene. [/sp]
Yes, Batman was a very depressing movie. Up there with Schindler's List and Grave of Fireflies.
rises is only even a bit sad the first time you watch it too because Chris Nolan is a fucking pussy [editline]2nd September 2012[/editline] ending was pathetic tbh, obviously a rushed rewrite
The entire movie's theme was pain, dude. It was depressing the entire time, plus [sp] that graveyard scene. [/sp]
It wasn't depressing however Michael Caine's performance was pretty tearjerker at times, but [sp]that all gets thrown out the window in the final scene[/sp] Ontopic Punisher: Warzone 8/10 Most people I've talked to hate this version vs the Thomas Paine version but that's like comparing Adam West's Batman vs Christian Bale's Batman. For being the comic version of the Punisher there isn't a whole lot to go into detail about and my only gripe was [sp]Jigsaw's facial structure being completely torn to shit and all he ends up with is a few gnarly scars[/sp] The action was A+, it had plenty of highly entertaining over the top gratuitous kills, and an overall solid story with good characters.
Drunken master with Jackie chan 9/10 Best movie i have seen in a long time, with mix of english subb and dubb makes the movie even more awesome. And this kinda movie makes action movies with guns boring...
I come in here every couple of days to hopefully catch a recommendation. Too many are just giving titles of films and ratings out of 10. Whilst some of us online have an attn span of 4 seconds, there are those of us who will read posts to hopefully get something out of them. Just a polite request, if you really liked something then please post a short description and reason why you liked it and then the rest of us can find the good shit too. Thank you.
A Bug's Life - 9/10 Definitely Pixar's most underrated movie.
The Devil's Double (2011)- This was actually very good, an interesting story told pretty well. It's about Uday Hussein (Sadam's son) and his double (for public speeches and stuff, in case he like gets assassinated or whatever) in 1987. Dominic Cooper did really really well, playing two totally different characters at once, and lots of the time they were on screen together. Props to the production team for this as well because it was really well executed. Uday was a fucking psychopath, really extravagant and confident,(although how true to life his representation in this was, I don't know) and Latif was really a more down to earth guy with a much more well aligned moral compass. Shame (2011)- I watched this a few days ago but I watched it with my friend yesterday (after Devil's Double) I enjoyed it even more this time round. Michael Fassbender is absolutely fantastic, and I really really loved his character. I understood him a bit more this time round. I think the best part about this film is not what is shown in it, but what isn't shown, and what is implied. Fassbender conveys the emotions his character has at all times perfectly, you're always able to know exactly what's going on inside his head. I feel I understood why he isolated himself so much and why he's a sex addict. Highly recommend the film, best film of 2011 alongside Drive. [editline]2nd September 2012[/editline] O yea also watched Bronson which owned quite a bit. Tom Hardy played him greatly, really memorable character. Some of it dragged just a bit, but overall enjoyed it. And the violence was really cool. [editline]2nd September 2012[/editline] I'd compare Bronson strongly to A Clockwork Orange, which can only be a good thing
Any of you got any 'movies that make you cringe so hard that you cry at one corner' to suggest? I've yet to found one.
The Life of David Gale. [editline]2nd September 2012[/editline]
The Devil's Double (2011) Shame (2011) I'd compare Bronson strongly to A Clockwork Orange, which can only be a good thing
Damn good movies bro, also clockwork orange was referenced in the Bronson ads.. :-) [editline]2nd September 2012[/editline] Saw Sophie Scholl - The Final Days miles better than the rest of the nazi legal movies out there, shame people missed this. Great film.
Any of you got any 'movies that make you cringe so hard that you cry at one corner' to suggest? I've yet to found one.
"Envy" was pretty damn terrible.
The Life of David Gale.
imdb has an average rating of 7.4 for this... the SHAME.
Kon-Tiki - 8.5/10 Recommend it whenever it pops up in one of your cinemas.
Anyone watched Cyberbully yet? I'm thinking of watching it
I didn't like Clockwork orange, i understood it, it wasn't bad but just not my cup of tea. first time i watched the [sp]rape[/sp] scene i was 8 and i laughed for some reason anyways gonna watch fight club
Men In Black 3 - 6/10 Pretty disappointed in that. Will Smith was pretty much the only thing I enjoyed about it. I was hoping it'd be at least a bit better than it was. The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (2011) - 8.5/10 I've seen the 2009 non-English version before which was great, but I liked this version more better for some reason. It seemed a lot easier to understand what was going on, but it didn't remove or add anything that I thought would have affected it in a negative way. Maybe it's because I wasn't reading subtitles the whole time.
Final Destination- 7/10 As ridiculous as the premise was, it was still entertaining.
Number 1 guilty pleasure.
An American Crime - 4/10 So it's a movie about the infamous Sylvia Likens torture and murder case. So naturally, it's pretty fucking disturbing. The problem though, is that it's disturbing because the events in it actually happened, not because the movie presents its disturbing subject matter in a competent manner. Piss-poor cinematography(lay off the close-ups, dickhead), largely uninspired performances(except for Ellen Page and Catherine Keener)and questionable writing(I did not like the pseudo-hallucinination scene and the narration towards the end at all, it came off as really cheesy and in poor taste to me) amount to exactly what An American Crime is, a disposable, mediocre made-for-TV flick. I'd probably watch a movie about paint drying if it had Ellen Page in it though. Also, I'd like to address the fact that this movie came out the same year The Girl Next Door came out, a movie heavily based on the same case and quite similar to this one(albeit just as inferior and just as unworthy of your time). If the question "An American Crime or The Girl Next Door" ever presents itself, you should know that there is only one correct answer: Boy Next Year. Chloe I hated the milf in that movie but Amanda Seyfried is hot, originally I watched it for Liam Neeson. 8/10 would watch again
2001: a space odyessy 10/10 wow
Finally watched Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind now I love Kate Winslet and she won't answer my letters :suicide: 9.5/10
Batman: Gotham Knight Not very good. Really disappointed. I bought this thinking it'd be something really cool, I heard a fair bit of hype about it, but it was not entertaining at all. It was boring and uninteresting, and none of the 6 stories told had much happen in them. They were all just anime butcherings of Batman. Don't waste your time watching this. It's really bad. [editline]3rd September 2012[/editline] some of them looked nice.. but that's about all I can praise this for.
Amelie 9/10 felt like a movie inbetween Mr nobody and Magnolia. The soundtrack was just, perfect, like many probably know personally was a tad depressing tho :c
daydream nation - 3/10 jesus. god. why does this exist.
Monsieur Lazhar - 8.8/10. Beautiful film with a great relationship between the main character, Bashir Lazhar and his students. Both the students and Lazhar deal with death and you get to see how everyone handles it. I definitely recommend it to anyone that likes movies that takes place in school and talks about dark themes like suicide and death.
The Thing (2011) - 2/10. What a boring, unoriginal pile of crap. It has NOTHING on the original.
The Intouchables 9.5/10 (not a 10/10 cause I don't want Rusty getting all bitchy again). Great acting, really heartwarming. Based on a true story of a rich aristocratwho becomes paralyzed (tetraplegia) during a hand-gliding accident. Definitely worth a watch. Another fantastic French film, the French make great Biography and Drama films. So yeah, it's in French, but if you don't mind that (it has English subtitles), it's really a great watch. is it really that good? I have no clue why it was such a hit.

Will definitely watch this. Thanks for the decent reviews. I've been meaning to watch A Devil's Double for a long time now, you gave me the incentive to finally get around to it! [editline]4th September 2012[/editline]
is it really that good? I have no clue why it was such a hit.
Did you not like it? I was listening to Ludovico Einaudi on YouTube and one of his songs had - in the top comments - "Like if The Intouchables brought you here!" so I figured I'd check the movie out. Checked out a trailer of it and thought it looked nice, so watched it and I'm so glad I did. It's a really nice movie, one of the best I've seen in a long time. The acting in it was superb, both lead actors really complemented each other.
