Did you not like it?
haven't seen it.
Watch it! As soon as possible! The beginning is fucking awesome. Just the way the director starts the movie, it really gets you into it. Trust me, you won't regret it. Thank me later <3
That's all I need to know a movie will be absolutely fantastic. Michael Fassbender is such a brilliant actor. Will definitely watch this. Thanks for the decent reviews. I've been meaning to watch A Devil's Double for a long time now, you gave me the incentive to finally get around to it!
Shame is a lot better than Devil's Double but both are worth watching for sure.
Thanks for the heads up :) Planning to watch them both later on tonight, should be good.
There's another movie with Fassbender in it that I've wanted to watch, can't remember the name though. Ah yeah, A Dangerous Method (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1571222/). Has anyone watched this? Is it good?
I've been watching all the movies with Michael Fassbender in them lately. Jane Eyre (really enjoyed it, even though it was quite slow-paced for most of the movie), Prometheus (he was incredible in this, portrayed the role of a cyborg perfectly, he is undoubtedly a talented actor), X-Men: First Class, Inglorious Basterds, 300. Each one I thoroughly enjoyed.
Endhiran. The indian version of Agent Smith.

I count The Matrix Reloaded, Terminator, and X-Men.
Juno - I should have directed this, it would have been way better/10
That was really boring and vanilla.
Like, there's this relatively cutting-edge concept to it, but it's all handled in the least threatening way possible so it doesn't offend or shock which results in it not really being interesting at all, everything from the dialogue to the plot and the way in which it is structured to the soundtrack and the performances and everything.
It's just there but it doesn't really elicit or even deserve a genuine emotional response.
I can see why this was total Oscar bait though since it's the exact sort of toothless smarmy shit that the fuckwad Oscar committee or whatever eats up.
And they should have had me direct it.
I would have replaced all the Sonic Youth references with The Jesus & Mary Chain references and all the Melvins references with Scratch Acid and Jesus Lizard references and I would've rewritten the script and the soundtrack would be nothing but noise rock, post-punk and East Coast hip-hop and there'd be a Wu-Tang cameo midway through and the guy who played Tummler in Gummo would be put in Michael Cera's place and at one point there'd be a scene in which he'd make out with Ellen Page and he'd feel up her breasts and say "you've got a lump in your titty, a big ol' lump" and then the breast cancer subplot would never be adressed again(see, a Gummo reference AND a The Room reference at the same time, it's pure genius and total hipster pandering unlike all the lame shit that was actually in the movie) and kazaam, a better movie.
Fuck this flick, basically.
Watch The Tracey Fragments instead, that movie's fucking fantastic and it's also from 2007 and it's also a coming of age story and it also has Ellen Page in it.
Videodrome - 8/10
Was on the TV so I watched it again even though I pretty much know it by heart.
It still rules.
Part social commentary, part exploration of the link between sex and technology(one of Cronenberg's biggest obsessions), part straight up gore-soaked horror with a large dose of surrealism.
Could very well be my favorite of Cronenberg's 80s output, which is saying something since pretty much everything he did in that decade is at the very least quite good.
Those animatronics and special effects never get old.
Hey wait a second, a movie about a 16-year old struggling with pregnancy and breast cancer at the same time, as well as her deteriorating relationship with the kid's paint-sniffing, self-destructive teenage father in an anonymous Canadian suburb actually is a shitton more interesting than Juno's plot.
Excuse me but I have to go now, there's a movie script that needs to be written.

Whoopsie, no automerge for me.
I don't have that many good memories of Juno when I watched it in 2008, but then again, I was also 14 at the time. I'll watch it again someday and see if my views on it have changed, but I remember it being kind of boring.
It's incredibly boring.
I don't get why the people that hate it get so mad over the people that like it since it's really not offensive in any regard, it's just really boring.
Yeah a rushed rewrite that's foreshadowing is heavily integrated into the plot
good job ya dingus
[editline]2nd September 2012[/editline]
read: the pearls, the batwing's autopilot, alfreds dream, all prevalent during the film leading up to their place in the finale
BUT MAN IT WAS SO RUSHED LOL!!!!!!!
It isn't a stretch to imagine that all of them could have been added during the rewrite as well to try and make it seem less out of place since none of them impact the plot in anyway other than the ending. That said I don't think it was a rushed rewrite, i'm just saying that isn't a good argument to disprove it.
The Intouchables 9.5/10 (not a 10/10 cause I don't want Rusty getting all bitchy again).
Great acting, really heartwarming. Based on a true story of a rich aristocratwho becomes paralyzed (tetraplegia) during a hand-gliding accident. Definitely worth a watch. Another fantastic French film, the French make great Biography and Drama films.
So yeah, it's in French, but if you don't mind that (it has English subtitles), it's really a great watch.

If you think the movie was a 10/10 then rate it 10/10, just ignore what he says.

He's easily one of the best, if not the best, actor to appear in recent years, imo.
I watched Hunger last night, another Michael Fassbender film. It was the film that really brought him to the mainstream, first lead role.
Directed by the same person who did Shame (Steve McQueen- not the actor, he's a new director. Hunger and Shame are his only productions so far), and you can tell. It has a 17 minute conversation in it, all of which is one shot. I heard about this before seeing it and was thinking it could be an effort to get through, but it really wasn't. It felt really fluid and the time passed quick enough. It was a fantastic scene with really great dialogue. The other guy in the conversation had to live with Fassbender for a week or something, so they could rehearse over and over :v: after all, 17 minutes of dialogue is a lot to remember.
But yeah really great film, pretty moving, Fassbender lost a ridiculous amount of weight towards the end. I'm talking Christian Bale in The Machinist weight loss. But Hunger gives a much more real portrayal of it.
Hunger Games: Loved it. It's not best movie ever, but i'm a sucker for fake romance.
[editline]5th September 2012[/editline]
Books are even better.
I only read the books, took like two weeks
Cant be fucked to watch the movie because I know its gonna be shit compared to the books
The movie was very mediocre (at best) and the books were fucking awful.
[editline]5th September 2012[/editline]
talking about the hunger games
Religulous (Comedy Documentary)
9/10. Personally I really enjoyed it and I like Bill Maher.

Gyakuten Saiben The Movie (AKA Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: The Movie)
9/10
Excellent adaptation of the video game. Characters are fantastic and is true to the original source material
Brothers
I saw an ad for this a few years back, skipped it because I reckoned it would be a middle of the road drama.
Now I realised it was actually a war film. What's more is that once i read it was a movie where we saw "another side" of Tobey Maguire I was intrigued.
This is a painfully good film. The shame that the imdb/rt ratings are average.
The first 10 minutes is your ordinary family heartwarming introduction, but what follows.. I didn't expect.
Natalie Portman and Gyllanhall are both awesome however their roles are mainly there to try and comfort what Maguire becomes, also to symbolise a happiness that is void in Maguire's trip to Afghanistan..
It's not so much the pain of war, but the way Maguire, whose meant to be this positive Peter Parker dude, reacts to it.
Recommended, fuck critics.
Two Hands 8/10
A really cool little Australian comedy/drama from 99 the likes of a Tarantino movie, starring Heath Ledger. I really liked it, seems pretty underrated. Makes me all the more sad that he's dead :(
Zombieland. 7/10, A lot better then I expected it to be. I'm a huge fan of Woody Harrelson(Even though his acting can sometimes be awful.) I still enjoyed him in this movie, he fits the role.
Bindlestiffs - 7/10
Surprisingly good for something that was made by a bunch of 16-17 year old kids, it gains a couple of extra points in my books just for that. It's a shame they had to blur shop names and a lot of faces though, it looks like they literally just went to a random street full of people to film a lot of it.
The Dark Knight- 10/10
I forgot how fucking amazing this movie was. I just wish that Batman Begins was as good as the two movies that followed it, not that it sucked, but the other two are just so damn good that it's hard to even compare them.
i thought you watched them on a regular basis?
plan on seeing Green Mile tonight.. I just have to.

Strongly agree with this recommendation. The strong can sometimes only appear strong, its when a somebody is tested we find out how strong a person is.

it's probably what I'd call an "antiwar" film tbh
just watched Leon and it owned
Natalie portmans first feature performance at only 12, she did a brilliant job. Gary oldman delivered an amazing performance, a really iconic villain. guy was totally insane. jean reno's performance was pretty solid too, nothing super amazing but definitely good
great film. would definitely recommend it.

Loved it just as much as the first one, maybe a little more.
Ending made me tear up.
Creation (2009) 9/10 Loved the acting. Beautiful film. A bit slow but that really didn't bother me.
Dark Shadows
