Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol - 7.5/10... Really solid action flick, great set piece sequences, and great banter amongst the team. I can really only fault it for a really, really crap story.
Cold Souls 8.8/10 Paul Giamatti as himself. He puts his soul into storage so he can disconnect from the character he's portraying in Chekov's play, Vanya. Hilarity insues. If you like Paul Giamatti at all, this is a must-see.
In what way would you say that it's flawed? I wish you would support your blanket statements with examples. With you it's either "It was fantastic and worked well" or "You're retarded, the movie was bad".
It mainly had minor flaws, like Anne Hathaway (lol!!!). But for real, just some stuff like how did Bruce get back to gotham, stuff like that. Stuff it didn't have time to fit in. Stuff that didn't detract from the movie at all because it wasn't essential, but probably would have clarified it if it were included. Like the 'I just knew you were an orphan', like it wasn't great, but whatever it's such a small detail. Yeah it's flawed. It tried to fit so much into it. But it pulled almost everything off. At no point was the plot incoherent or hard to follow. Even with some gaps here and there of non essential stuff it was never confusing and it was always well enough implied visually what had happened even if we didn't see something or it wasn't explicitly explained. Another thing about Nolans last few films is that a lot of dialogue feels a little impersonal, like it's a bit too action movie dialogue and not deep invested story dialogue, but for what his movies are, it works really well. I'm not a fanboy. I can see the flaws. But the movie being incoherent was absolutely not one of them. Like all its very minor flaws probably know one point or less off it's score in my book. Everything can always be better and everything always has flaws. But it was still an excellent fucking film that did so many things well, anything it didn't is very forgivable. Especially for a movie of such a grand scale. Which might I also add, it pulled off.
Anyone seen the new Total Recall?
I Saw the Devil - 5/10 I'm really not sure why this is as highly regarded as it is. The only part of this film that really felt like it has much effort put into were the fight scenes, which are to its credit very good, but other than that the whole thing just feels rather lazy. We never really get given any chance to become invested in any of our characters; the murder of Joo-hyun's fiance; the set up for the entire film, is rushed past in the first few minutes, and next thing we know Joo-hyun's running about torturing the murder suspects without us finding out anything about him that would help us to invest in him. The way in which the revenge at the centre of the film is done had potential; Joo-hyun finds the murderer fairly early in the film and most of the film involves him repeatedly attacking and torturing the murderer, and then releasing him so he can track him down again. Joo-hyun isn't a morally positive chacter, he isn't searching for justice or a sense of closure on his fiance's death, he's simply revelling in the joy of inflicting pain on the man who wronged him. Handled better, I think this idea could have made for a really good film, but we learn almost nothing about Joo-hyun's character throughout the entire film. He doesn't feel like a monster, or indeed anything really, he's just a paper thin charcter wandering from one fight scene to the next. In all very dissapointing.
I felt like the whole point of the movie relied on not learning about the characters. I saw it as a "who IS the devil?" question. Also you kinda missed that his transition from "I want revenge" to "I love torturing that guy" was also a MAJOR point of the movie, the inspector and his friend are even TELLING him on the phone. It's not about their backstory or the characters. The film would have much less relation to OUR consumption of murder stories and wishes for revenge if it was more personal.
Pokemon: The First Movie- 2/10 I enjoyed it for nostalgic reasons, but as a film on it's own, it's fucking terrible.
10/10 film and you know it.
Pokemon: The First Movie- 2/10 I enjoyed it for nostalgic reasons, but as a film on it's own, it's fucking terrible.
I saw that in theaters and got a Mew card. Shit was amazing, fuck you.
This is going to sound absolutely fucking insane but, Starship Troopers: Invasion 7 out of 10 Actually a pretty good little CG movie. The action is pretty tight, the animation is good, and the execution isn't too bad. The voice actors are adequate at best (the rental copy didn't have the Japanese dub, which may be the better ones due to the fact it got a theatrical run over there), the plot is pretty basic (but not bad). Not much in the way of satire, but it makes up for this with delivering quality Starship Troopers action. Far superior to the prior straight to DVD movies, but still can't come close to the original. Its been said that if this movie was fairly successful, there would be more projects for this team. If they do get another shot, all I can say is get better voice actors and a better composer.
It was amazing when we were kids, but looking at it from an adult's point of view, it barely even flows as a movie.
This is why I will never rewatch it. It's a children's movie based off of a show that's based off of a video game. I shall only remember fond things about it.
I saw that in theaters and got a Mew card. Shit was amazing, fuck you.
bitch please I got a mewtwo card with my VHS
I went to a preview of the pokemon movie and didn't get a pokemon card. I'm still bitter about it. In all seriousness, I think it's harsh to give the film a 2/10.
I still have my Mew card. Could trade it for some Pokemon stash but I never did.
bitch please I got a mewtwo card with my VHS
But... it's an ANCIENT Mew card. And Mew is better than Mewtwo. Wanna fight about it?
And Mew is better than Mewtwo.
what does that thing actually do? I've never seen it do anything. Overrated.
It... it... makes force shield bubble things in Pokemon Snap.
Also you kinda missed that his transition from "I want revenge" to "I love torturing that guy" was also a MAJOR point of the movie, the inspector and his friend are even TELLING him on the phone.
I know that it tells you that, but that's my whole problem with it; the film just straight up tells you with exposition rather than letting you figure it out through the character's behaviour.
But... it's an ANCIENT Mew card. And Mew is better than Mewtwo. Wanna fight about it?
Nah man, I got both Ancient Mew AND Mewtwo. This isn't even my final form.
Anyone seen the new Total Recall?
yeah don't bother, its boring and lacks the charm and personality of the original. they drained all the fun out of it and made it a shitty generic action thriller [editline]10th September 2012[/editline]
Pokemon: The First Movie- 2/10 I enjoyed it for nostalgic reasons, but as a film on it's own, it's fucking terrible.
I didn't even like it when I was 9 I thought it was pretty decent because mewtwo had always been my favorite just because of how jarringly dark his origin was, how he broke out and apparenly murdered his creators then ash comes back and instead of stopping him through a climactic battle or other resolution he just he just has this instant change of heart about everything ever suddenly I don't want to destroy shit I have this overwhelming need to HUG EVERYTHING POWER OF FRIENDSHIP MOTHERFUCKERS.

Prometheus 8/10 Great movie, and I like how it actually ties into the alien series. It's basically a prequel, no doubt. Men in Black 3 - 6.5/10 Not even half as good as the first, but I'd say it's probably as good as the second. The story suffers from unoriginality, cliches and too many will smith jokes. It was more about Will Smith dicking about instead of anything else. Nice to see the men in black back in action though, it was a pretty good watch overall.

"The Outlaw Josey Wales" 12/10, here is all my money, Mr Eastwood. I've officially bought 15 copies of the same damn movie.
Switch the scores and we're golden.
prometheus is an 8/10, but loses points because of damon lindelof and scenes cut from the theatrical release.
prometheus is an 8/10, but loses points because of damon lindelof and scenes cut from the theatrical release.
And because everyone in the movie is inept and I question how any of them got to such prestigious positions legally. A director's cut could possibly bump it to a 7, a recut with characters who aren't idiots would bump it to an 8.

That's My Boy -1000000/10 Absolutely horrid. The premise and jokes sound like they were dreamt up by a 12-year-old, none of the characters are likable and Adam Sandler is just awful.
