Have you seen Sexy Beast with Ben Kingsley?
Yeah, brilliant movie. [editline]20th September 2012[/editline] I'd say similar in craziness. [editline]20th September 2012[/editline] You'll like In Bruges a lot.

Vertigo notsure/10 ohgod what. did that ending just really happen what
I watched that in the filmhouse 2 days ago since they're doing all of Hitchcocks films (next month I'm gonna catch rear window, the birds, strangers on a train and psycho (favourite film of all time) they've saved the classics for last I guess). was he second time I've seen it, I appreciated it more this time. I think it was a huge milestone in Hitchcocks career, it was his defining film I reckon. its a masterpiece. really does show just how cruel life is and can be. Hitchcock liked being horribly pessimistic under the guise of optimism I've noticed :v: I think the kiss at the shore is also one of cinema's greatest (ignoring how awkward James Stewart looks kissing). twists great. its a really weird film but so good. psycho is still my favourite Hitchcock film but vertigo is probably the better film.
It just feels like Psycho and Rear Window really had a plot and an ending not saying Vertigo didnt, because it did but the last part and especially the ending was just so sudden. im trying to understand the message/moral Hitchcock wants to send through but i just dont see it im gonna watch Citizen Kane and North by Northwest too, maybe that'll help make it more clearly

Haven't seen CK yet but most people seem to hold it in high regard.
they're both 5 star films. definitely. fucking classics. and I'd say the moral to vertigo isnt so much a moral as it is a cruel awakening- life is shit. you never get what you want, no mater how hard you try or how close you get, and that your hopes and dreams are little more than that-dreams. I didn't really get it first time either but its definitely a film that you've not seen until you've seen it twice. anyway I'm away to see to Rome with love, the new woody Allen film (2.60 with a members card at the filmhouse-fucking love this place :v:) it looks excellent. [editline]21st September 2012[/editline] ck might drag first time round, its long and has an unusual narrative (back and forth through time via flashbacks and the like) so I recommend watching it again at some point. even if you don't like it. something will click and you'll realise what a masterpiece it is. there's a reason its regarded as one of the greatest films of all time (sight and sound had it at #1- a title recently claimed by vertigo) [editline]21st September 2012[/editline] nbnw is just one of the greatest thrillers of all time. it you've seen a few other Hitchcock films you'll have no problem understanding it, its the definitive Hitchcock film I'd say. fantastic fun to watch.
The Shawshank Redemption 10/10 I haven't seen such a great movie in a long time.
North By Northwest is ridiculously good, I have no clue why people find difficulty watching old movies. My advice is to just watch as many older films as possible and get used to them. Blood Diamond <2006> 7.5/10
North By Northwest is ridiculously good, I have no clue why people find difficulty watching old movies. I can't stand watching movies that are clearly on sets and the way people talk is clearly scripted. I can't stand John Wayne movies or similar westerns, however I love Sergio Leone's films.
It depends on how well they're made and how realistic their dialogue is.
Well that's not really a factor for "just old films". There are people who just feel uncomfortable watching a movie for the sake of it being old, regardless whether there's a dynamite performance or not.
The Collector [2009] Was actually decent, watched it on Youtube. I look forward to The Collection.
wait, theres a sequel coming out for that piece of shit??
wait, theres a sequel coming out for that piece of shit??
i liked it, wasn't as bad as you make it sound
full metal jacket - 9.5/10 amazing movie. the realism behind the plotline makes it all the more intense. loved the way the fire was brought out in the hué battle scene.
i liked it, wasn't as bad as you make it sound
no it really was
Just saw the Dark Knight Rises, 9/10 [sp]how did batman survive the nuclear explosion in the end?[/sp]
[sp]how did batman survive the nuclear explosion in the end?[/sp]
[sp]heejected[/sp]
rear window 8/10 solid, very suspenseful
Just saw the Dark Knight Rises, 9/10 [sp]how did batman survive the nuclear explosion in the end?[/sp]
GOD DAMN! Why do I always click those SP tags?!
GOD DAMN! Why do I always click those SP tags?!
People love to spoil movies.
I don't see what all the fuss is about with avengers.People nowadays must be using half of their brains if they think its a top 250 movie. Well, its a good thing i saw dog day afternoon , al pacinos performance was top notch.
Caught the last half of Roman Holiday but didn't watch all of it so that I could watch the whole film without being spoiled. It seemed good though.
Super 8 (2011) 4.5/10 If you like the movie, then I'm sorry but I have to say that it's one of the worst movies I've ever seen in my life. There are lots of arkward and senseless moments in it.
Just saw the Dark Knight Rises, 9/10 [sp]how did batman survive the nuclear explosion in the end?[/sp]
-snort snort- Magic.
Citizen Kane: 10/10 Finally saw this movie and hot damn. It's very easy to see why this film has been considered #1 of all time by so many. I can think of dozens of movies that I've enjoyed more than Citizen Kane, but that doesn't take away from it being a masterpiece of film.
