Lawrence of Arabia 9/10
tommy lee's final monologue was incredible.. The words felt so real that it even made me sympathise with taking one's own life. That's a tough thing to do. [editline]2nd October 2012[/editline] also I just realised Samuel's character could have been the older version of his Pulp Fiction character. :v:
this sounds interesting, i'll give it a watch soon if I can find it
Mr. Nobody 9/10 Watch this.
Mr. Nobody 9/10 Watch this.
Bought the Bluray last year. Best decision ever.
The 'making of' of that movie is really interesting, seeing how much thought was put into the smallest of things.

The beginning had a lot of dialogue without any real action. The middle then again had a lot of action, the ending was not as expected and the plot is really fucked up. Not my kind of movie.
Mr. Nobody 9/10 Watch this.
This film is in my top 5 for sure.
Looper 9.5/10 ruihwueuhaheuwgahadheyh go see this movie ASAP

[editline]2nd October 2012[/editline]
actually it is easy for me personally to empathise, which made that whole speech so much more amazing to me
Equilibrium - 4/10 THX 1138 - poignancy + really silly action = Equilibrium
actually it is easy for me personally to empathise, which made that whole speech so much more amazing to me
What I meant was, by using those words he was able to explain how the world is to him and manage to show the viewer how much pain he really feels. I've seen many depressive characters over the years, but none had the real integrity to just tell it how it is for themselves.
Equilibrium - 4/10 THX 1138 - poignancy + really silly action = Equilibrium
dude equilibrium owns. it's cheesy as hell, but oh so good. [editline]4th October 2012[/editline] Looper (2012) I really enjoyed it. Great performances from two terrific actors. How they altered JGL to resemble a young Willis was really fun, and seeing em interact with each other was great. I would have liked some more of that though. The plot was interesting, and I liked how they sort of kept it in a small scale- having it more drama than mindless sci-fi action. Plot-holes, sure, but it's a film revolving around time-travel what can you expect. So yeah, definitely one of the better films this year. It didn't knock Moonrise Kingdom off its throne though. Maybe Django Unchained will.. I give it an 8 out of 10. I felt like it was missing something.
Moonrise Kingdom was very cute but Looper was better
Looper comes out end next month and The Master in 2 months goood daaammnnn iiiitttt
Equilibrium - 4/10 THX 1138 - poignancy + really silly action = Equilibrium
I love this movie. I watched it when I was like 17 or 18 or something, and it was amazing back then. Now that I'm older, I see how cheesy it is, but I still love it. [editline]4th October 2012[/editline] I wanna see The Master so bad. I heard people are leaving Scientology in droves.
Corpse Bride 9/10 Fucking love these movies by Tim Burton. Also the ending was damn good.
Moonrise Kingdom was very cute but Looper was better
I found the kid's performance in Looper kind of distracting at times due to its goofiness which took away from it imo. The kids in Moonrise Kingdom were fantastic, but slightly older.
I was actually being constantly impressed by the kids acting abilities in looper. not seen moonrise kingdom yet though.
The Thing (1982) - 9/10 I don't normally enjoy old horror movies but this was bloody good.
I was actually being constantly impressed by the kids acting abilities in looper. not seen moonrise kingdom yet though.
He was good yeah but kids that young can only do so much.
The Thing (1982) - 9/10 I don't normally enjoy old horror movies but this was bloody good.
old horror movies are the only ones I find worth watching (and even then a lot of them are total shit) I can't remember any recent horror films that were actually good, besides horror comedies
The Sunset Limited 10/10 Christ, that ending monologue. I was wondering why it was so depressing, and then I learned that it was adapted from a Cormac McCarthy play. No wonder. God I love Cormac McCarthy.
So i just watched Mr Nobody after seeing the posts in here
Holy Motors 10/10. Film of the year. Masterpiece. Absolutely fantastic. Loved every moment. In the overall scale, it's about a guy who goes about as I guess an actor and becomes characters and becomes the characters totally. It's I think 11 stories tied in to it all. He goes about in a limo which also functions as a dressing room, where he becomes his next character, and it's a day in his life as an "actor" I guess (it's a pretty surreal and artsy film) I did come up with some possible themes on my way home from seeing it but they're just kind of floating around in my head just now and they're not very clear and I'm having trouble puttin them down here. I'm definitely going to see it again so I'll probably write about them then. If you've any interest in European/arthouse cinema absolutely see this movie. Imo it deserved the Palme D'or but it was beaten by Amour (which I'm going to see when its out here so I might change my mind but I seriously doubt it. Holy Motors has some of the best cinematography I've seen in a movie honestly)
No Country For Old Men 9/10. Dunno why I didn't watch it when it was released.
Chernobyl Diaries: 6/10 The movie premise was pretty much just generic horror paired with the location, the first few scenes looked promising and the characters developed OKAY. But the movie slowly degraded into jump-scares and "Spooky shadow men." Also I found that the movie was pretty insensitive and totally scientifically inaccurate depicting the "Survivors." Also the fact that 6 foreign visitors go missing and nothing is perused at the end by any outside sources kind of pissed me of. The movie was wholly unrealistic and there were a lot of "What the fuck" moments where you questioned the motives of characters, most prevalently the [sp]Russian Military's actions during the last few end scenes.[/sp]
the prestige after the movie i still thought [sp]bale used a telsa double[/sp]. i guess i'm dense. anyways 8 / 10
So i just watched Mr Nobody after seeing the posts in here
1x Disagree (Rusty100) Poor Rusty, doesn't know what to do with his opinions anymore.
are u really complaining about ratings that everybody gives everybody, like only i rate people disagree when i disagree with them?
It's just the most fun when you try to assert that one opinion is wrong (aka the ones that dislike movies you like and vice versa) and one is right(yours).
