In before "lol Salo is 2 deep 4 u."[/QUOTE]
I get the sense from you that enjoying Salo as a piece means that you're a screwed up human being.
If I'm right, then you're insulting some of the greatest directors to have lived.
That paleolithic bronzebird which shall float through the crevices of the pinknipple is forever yet to find the wooden mastodonts, so sayeth Conundrum02.

Broke my automerge you fucker.
[editline]16th February 2012[/editline]
Now everything's ruined.
[editline]16th February 2012[/editline]
And I thought Salo was okay albeit I saw it years ago, back before I even began taking a greater interest in cinema.
I should probably watch it again sometime in order to make a proper judgment.

if you enjoy salo you aren't screwed up, but it definitely isn't a masterpiece. pier pasolini made other things that were really good, but I wouldn't call him one of the greatest directors to have lived...
[QUOTE=TheFilmSlacker;34729223]I remember the first time I saw Salo.
I got criticized for hating it so much. I understood the message about fascism and everything, but in the end, it's just a bunch of shit eating and violent imagery that left me feeling genuinely depressed in the end.
It gets a 3/10 for me. I certainly won't forget it.[/QUOTE]
That's okay. I think it's innocent to be disdained by this kind of movie.
Once you find the strength to not be disheartened by just the concept then you'll be fine.
I personally don't think it's a marvel of a movie either for everyone else wondering.
Not a movie, but the first episode of the new HBO series "Luck"
6.5/10
I think what gave me a bad taste in the mouth the most was probably the misuse of music/soundtrack in the episode... Several calm parts had a chilling and action-like soundtrack for some reason, and vice versa
Apparenlty the show gets better in writing and all later on so I'll keep on watching
The Skin I Live In - 7/10
wtf
[editline]16th February 2012[/editline]
Seriously, it was all good until "it" was revealed. Then it was just creepy and nauseating.
Ratatoing- 0/10
Not even 2 shopping bags full of pot can possibly make you enjoy this movie.
Gran Torino 9/10 - Fuck that shit son! Eastwood never gets too old to teach us youth shit!. No really! I'd devote my life to whatever he had to say to me. IF he ever graced me a second if his existence. I'm seriously honored to be breatihg the same atoms he migh tave breath while he spoke the golden lines during "a shitton of dollars" filming.
Fight club 10/10 - Do em a favour, Hit me as har as you can. Edward Norton really had a golden streal til 01'.
.
District B13 (2004) - 9/10
District 13: Ultimatum (2009) - 8/10
Great movies if you're into freerunning/parkour.

The "District" franchise has really lost the plot with its sequels. :downs:
eraserhead 10/10
i got high as shit for this viewing as i normally have only watched this movie sober.
this time though was different. my first conclusions about this movie before this viewing was that it all had something to do with david lynch's nightmare of fatherhood. it's presented in a nightmarish fashion because it is one of lynch's greatest fears to be a father i guess. but there was something else i couldn't quite put my finger on as well.
now i kinda see it more clearly. all the other shit that has nothing to do with fatherhood, and seems like a bunch of random mindfuck is like subconscious static or feedback.
in the end all that's really important is that lynch dont wanna be no baby daddy. everything else he either put in to fuck with us or to make the world seem even more kafka-esque
i don't really ever want to truly understand it. and i love lynch for not fleshing out what's the get down about the movie.
[editline]16th February 2012[/editline]
also eraserhead itself is insanely well done. it's almost as if they took some chernobyl mutant baby thing and cast it

I think at one point someone went and tagged all the David Lynch movie articles on Wikipedia with the [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Confusing]"This article may be confusing or unclear to readers"[/url] tag
should happen regularly.
Shame - 9/10
nearly everything about this was great. Fassbender and Mulligan played their parts so well, you genuinely feel for them throughout most of the film. The portrayal of sex was interesting as well, as there's nothing really 'attractive' about any of the sex scenes, despite how explicit they are. The camera technique, with long as fuck shots lasting several minutes at a time, was definitely interesting but at some points it was a little annoying. Overall, this film should win something imo
plus Fassbender's johnson is just fuckin' out there, which was a bit offputting and intimidating at points

It's a pretty far out movie, so well done. I've only seen it when sober, but still enjoyed it quite a bit.

Watchmen Ultimate Cut - 9/10
Wow, I didn't expect it to be 3.5hrs. Great movie.
Rear Window (Hitchcock, 1954)
9/10
Basically only 3 camera angles in the whole movie. Excellent acting and well written. Hitchcock is the man.

I really liked the Black Freighter adaptation.
Tower Heist
7/10
Was about as good as I had expected. Very watchable movie if you like comedies.
Stepbrothers
7/10
Seemed like they tried a little too hard to be funny, but it was pretty good regardless. Will Ferrel is a pretty cool guy.
[B][I]Drive[/I] 9/10[/B]
Daang, Facepunch (and Rusty) what a recommendation. This was one [I]hell[/I] of a movie. The oppressive atmosphere was well done, and you really get the feeling of discomfort that the driver feels - he wants to help out and get close to Irene and and Benicio, but also respects Standard's authority and position. The incredible tension that builds throughout kept me involved, plus the ambient/electric soundtrack works to add to the mood. I also liked how the car stunts were realistic - when the car following him and Blanche wrecks at the turn, it doesn't flip over and explode, it just gets bent.
There were only two things I really didn't like. I would have liked to see more of the driver's work - only two straight getaway-from-heist chases were seen, and I had forgotten he worked in movies by the time he went back to his trailer at the end. Also, I would have preferred a little less splattering blood and gore... I could have gone without seeing [sp]the driver cave in a dude's skull. Just hearing the bone was sickening[/sp]
Also it reminded me of No Country For Old Men - lots of silence, driving, cramped rooms, murder.

agreed 100% if you like one of these movies you will for sure enjoy the other
30 Minutes or Less - 5/10
The beginning was super boring, the characters swore too much in general, and the ending was pretty meh.
Drive really that good? I'll watch it tonight, probably. Friday night, mother fuckers.
