Gamer 5/10
Too many effects, story didn't make much sense, didn't leave an impact on me.
Killing Them Softly 8/10
A very odd movie. An odd style that's hard to pinpoint with a lot of odd scenes and unusual cinematography choices. Not bad, but they strike you as a little bizarre at the time of viewing. Still a very gripping and tense movie with good performances across the board.
Poop, my theater doesn't have it yet, I really want to see it.
Argo: 8.5/10
Very well done movie, good acting from everyone, and it definitely had some extremely tense scenes.

By the guy(s) that did Crank, so not much to expect there.

tis awesome.
Sinister 2/10
Went to see this tonight as a last minute invite and I wasn't expecting much but fuck this really took the piss. It's just another hour and a half of someone moving into a house with a supernatural presence and of course the kids are involved as always. The story or mystery didn't even stay interesting because you know exactly what is going to happen throughout the whole film, so it's just 100% waiting for the next jump scare until the predictable ending.
Waste of time and money.

I really hoped that this one would be different :(
the trailer made it look pretty good, but oh well
I've heard really mixed reviews of Sinister, some people are saying it's the best horror movie in ages. I'm a complete wuss so I wouldn't see it even if it was a masterpiece.
Day of the Dead- 9/10.
My favourite Romero zombie film by far, the characters are way more interesting then in Dawn or Night. And I love so much how the character Captain Rhodes is probably the biggest asshole ever seen in a zombie film.
Otherwise, it has excellent music, great special effects and a really dark hopeless atmosphere that makes it my favourite in the trilogy.
The Master
8/10
really solid performances all around, but the film seemed to drag on after the motorcycle scene
I thought it was an interesting character study with some neat insight into cult psychology
I wasn't really sure how I felt about it which is rare, I usually know which way my opinion leans on a film immediately after its done
I liked this film, and I think I'd need a second viewing to really grasp everything this film was trying to say, but I don't have the motivation to view it again just because of how drawn out the ending felt.

Felt like a film school project to me. It was trying way too hard to be hip.
Prometheus- 9/10
I know that it has plot holes and I know that the crew members were kind of stupid most of the time, but I can't help it, I just love the movie.
I know that people often complain that the film raises too many questions, but to be honest, I think that it added to my experience with it. It kind of made you wonder how a lot of the ancient technology worked, what the black goo was, etc.
I'll say this though, [sp] there had better be answers to some of the questions in the sequel that they set up at the end. [/sp]
I know that it gets a lot of hate, but I still love this movie, despite it's flaws.
Those aren't the kinds of questions you should be left with which is why the movie is terrible. It's not like Inception where the audience really enjoyed discussing how things worked and whether or not Cobb was dreaming, etc., Prometheus' writing was just lazy.
Taken 2 - 6/10
Didn't expect much, but I thought it was alright. Extremely generic, and nothing stood out as awesome. Plot was really simple, but that's not a problem for the movie, some movies have really basic plots and are still good.
However I do have a problem that [sp]the climax wasn't really good at all. There was a hand to hand fight between Neeson's character and a random bad guy, baddie gets killed, then after a quick talk with Murad, and a funny scene involving no ammo left in the gun, Neeson just pushes him into a spiked wall. Then the happy ending.[/sp]
Can't really recommend it unless you want to see raw, "playing it safe" action and a simple to follow storyline.

I don't get how this movie even exists. Who do they steal? I heard his ex-wife. Phone call should have went something like "We have your ex-wife." "Well alright then, take care, buh-bye." Credits.

Pretty much how I felt about it. It took me a couple days to gather an opinion on it.
Still need to see it again.
Argo - 9/10
[thumb]http://comingsoon.net/nextraimages/argoposter.jpg[/thumb]
Best movie of this genre I have seen in a long time.
Looper 8/10
There were some bits where it felt a bit slow but the ending was absolutely amazing.
Sinister 6/10
Pretty decent for a spooky movie but they never really elaborated too much on the main bad guy

There's no rulebook with how a movie experience should be.
"the writing was lazy" is a dull opinion.
It's like saying, "hmm not enough long elegant words in this book, therefore crap plot and lazy writing".
Even though "questions" weren't answered, it was an invigorating experience imo.
If you wanted the film to answer a question about "origins of life", then I can't help you bro.
[editline]14th October 2012[/editline]
Blade Runner didn't fully answer your questions, did it?
no to whatever bullshit you're peddling ak'z
prometheus was sloppily written as hell

explain what you mean then, whenever people say this all I think is people's need for long words.
13 Assassins - 9 / 10
Incredible. I was really skeptical about how good this movie really was based on recommendations but once I started it up I was pulled right in.
I don't think people care anymore about actual immersion and feeling for a movie but "how accessible the plot is" and how "ambiguous" things can be.
The only questions I wanted answering were [sp]David's story and true purpose [/sp], with a rewatch that'll probably be answered for me tbh.

Crank was cool. Crank 2 was poop.
what.
are you seriously implying that "writing" in film means the same exact thing it means in literature.
how about the characters being written to have such ridiculous inconsistencies with their behaviors? BAFFLINGLY dumb decisions and straight up unrealistic reactions from pretty much everyone on the crew. nobody apparently knowing how to do their damn job right. they make these decisions and just go through these motions because the writer needed them to all get into a position where they inevitably get fucked over, and at NO point can you imagine that these cause and effect scenarios would actually happen to a group of scientists who any kind of clue as to what they were doing
in alien people got fucked over but aside from Brett they weren't doing anything completely retarded (and Brett was kind of a moron, and I doubt anyone would expect the thing to grow that quickly anyway). their downfalls came through pure misfortune.
[editline]14th October 2012[/editline]
it really takes you out of a film when the writer clearly just has a character become slack jawed right before he dies. it's a fucking cop out.
no examples = no point made
gimme the beans bro, and quote me a line of dialogue which you thought was god awful.
I'm not too sure about unrealistic decisions, except I wouldn't [sp]let a machine perform speed surgery on me[/sp] except I liked that bit... quite a lot.
also some of the dialogue was just hammy and awful
"I-I can't create life"
so forced, and it's not even all the actresses' deliveries fault. it feels as if it was thrown in sloppily as a last minute addition so shaw could have an extra reason to be weirded out that she was [sp]pregnant with a squid[/sp]
I'll have to see it again but it's fair enough that the actors didn't have the ability or lines to pull off a moving performance.
The movie didn't feel really character driven for me anyway, so I probably threw out the need for a Sigourney Weaver. It's not really a movie I can directly relate with Alien, there's a lot less of a claustrophobic sense here, dunno why.
