Yeah I like the Scary Movies, mostly because I watched them when I was wee and they hold a nostalgic value. Also some of the movie references can be pretty clever.
that shouldn't be the case, the movies they are mocking should be the ones that hold nostalgic value watch those instead
Skyfall 9/10
Brilliant. Bardem was especially great. The moments that alluded to the past were all awesome
Skyfall 8.5/10
Definitely the best Craig film, but considering how average Casino Royale was and how terrible Quantum of Solace was, that wasn't a lofty target. Either way, it really recovered the series.
I just rewatched Prisoner of Azkaban
most of the harry potter movies are just enjoyable 6-8's but I forgot how good this one was, great art direction and dialogue and hogwarts feels less like a plot device party and more like an actual school
9/10

They do too I never said they didn't.

Casino Royale was great. Only bad thing about it was the forgettable villain that didn't do anything.
Skyfall 6/10 - It was a good film but it just, didn't feel like a good bond film after the first 10 minutes and it felt forced at points. Better than Quantum of Solace and Casino Royale as a film but in the bond franchise?
Nah
cloud atlas-
7.5/10
an ambitious film that mostly suffers from way too fucking much going on at once. it is six stories in different periods of time, past, present, and future, all told from beginning to end at the same time, weaving between stories haphazardly
I can honestly say I never felt bored with it, and while the movie is kind of a massive clusterfuck I actually enjoyed it.
I might have to see it again.

I thought it felt more like a bond film but casino royale. not seen quantum of solace but it apparently sucked so

when I saw The Usual Suspects the first time ever a couple of months ago, my brain immediately thought of the first scary movie and it ruined the plot twist for TUS.
gonna watch Dances with Wolves for the first time, it's the 4 hour director's cut.
awwwwwwwww yeah.
wtf I thought Dances with Wolves always was some sort of dance-esque movie like Flashdance or something
Turns out I was horribly wrong! Time to go see it
i slept 30 minutes in while watching Dances with Wolves. never got to finish it
i slept 30 minutes in while watching Dances with Wolves. never got to finish it
must be prepared for the duration bro.
plenty of coffee and water needed as well as comfy as fuck seat.
if getting through a movie is a chore then it's a bad movie
[editline]31st October 2012[/editline]
OR you're stupid
it depends on the movie
if getting through a movie is a chore then it's a bad movie

Bollocks, movies can be challenging to watch. We're not talking about "holding interest" with flashing lights, we're talking about staying immersed for 4 hours. It's not easy.
It should be easy, no matter the length, and if it's not then it's bad story telling (or you have bad taste).
[editline]31st October 2012[/editline]
I can happily sit and watch 3 hour movies that I like, it's not remotely a chore.
[editline]31st October 2012[/editline]
I don't know of any 4 hour ones. If there was one I liked it wouldn't be a chore either.
[editline]31st October 2012[/editline]
I can easily sit through Apocalypse Now Redux or The Good the Bad and the Ugly, they're long as shit but they are very well told stories so it's never difficult to sit and watch them for so long.
Damn man if you actually think some movies should be hard work to watch, you must not have good movie watching experiences.
it depends on how you are watching it though
maybe if you're sitting in the most uncomfortable chair in front of your computer screen at 100% brightness you are bound to get quite tired at some point

The movies you gave as examples are easy to watch, because they are very easily accessible. [sp]You'll now blabber on about how if it's not accessible, it's shit[/sp]
I found Saving Private Ryan to be an easily accessible movie, and I didn't think it was all that good, sorry.
Apocalypse Now isn't that accessible, though.
It's dark, dreary, and slow... the average movie-goer of today would probably hate it.
Freddy vs Jason - 7.5/10
Regardless of people claiming it has virtually no story, I saw that the writers at least attempted to give it some sort of storyline. Granted, it had no connection at all to NOES or F13, but I kind of figured it wouldn't.

nah, the vietnam war was pretty disconnected with reality and the entire aesthetic of the movie being a journey through the madness of war makes it fairly easy imo. Not redux though.
"average movie-goer" isn't what I had in mind though.
The (G)A(y)mazing Spiderman: 4.5/10
the problem with me was that i started watching it at 2 AM being sleepy and tired as fuk
i easily sat through the Dark Knight Marathon, because i wasnt sleepy then
and well i drank 2 litres of redbull
Cabin in the Woods - 9 or 10/10
Holy jesus. Holy mother of god. How did this slip under my radar? It's so fucking fantastic.
Basically if you haven't watched this movie, tomorrow is Halloween and you probably should. Don't read anything about it. Go in as blindly as possible. I guarantee you won't be disappointed.
2001: A Space Odyssey - 9.5/10
My only complaint is that the special effect sequence in the last act dragged on for a bit too long, other than that i was fantastic. I can't imagine how awesome it would have been to see in a theater.
Dawn of the Dead (2004) 5.8/10
I remembered this movie to be excellent, but I was obviously high on first watch because it was quite bad. Flat and stereotyped characters, banale storyline, some laughable moments. It's an enjoyable movie if seen as trash and goofy, and the visuals are nice, but overall a not so fun experience. The original is superior in every shape and form.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show- 10/10
The perfect fall movie.
I went to a screening of this with a few friends. We brought all the shit we needed for the movie like rice, toilet paper, flashlights, toast, etc.
Shit was amazing. People were getting up to dance the time warp, shouting at the screen, it was fucking awesome.
I highly recommend seeing this at home and then seeing a screening on Halloween. It's quite a time.
i will never understand where all that stuff came from

done that last year, it's a truly marvelous experience
The Avengers
I do not know really what to think about this movie, although I was better than expected. First off the effects and all that jazz was amazing, so was the sound. The plot was pretty neat, although nothing spectacular. The characters had some moments and funny lines. Anthony Stark is really a cool guy. But a lot of the dialogues were not that interesting.
The pacing is a bit slow though, the first half of the movie is rather boring. Not saying that I want some action, but there was no tension or anything. In the end though, I might be a bit biased because I am not really a fan of the marvel characters or universe.
Die Hard 10/10 - How have I not seen this before? This is going into my very small list of go-to movies.

not big complaint but they honestly did a rather piss poor job of Loki as well
the bad guys in general seem to falter in the marvel movies. a shame really
[editline]30th October 2012[/editline]
as in the characters themselves aren't well written, not "the bad guys lose, what a shame"
