I watched it before Skyfall came out to see how Sam Mendes was as a director. He's fucking great, absolutely loved American Beauty and will definitely watch it again soon.
Any other Sam Mendes movies worth watching apart from American Beauty and Skyfall?
quantum of solace was bad because it's a james bond movie where james bond spends 75% of the film wandering aimlessly around a desert and not being suave
Any other Sam Mendes movies worth watching apart from American Beauty and Skyfall?
Road To Perdition, Jarhead and Revolutionary Road are great. oh... those are most of his films. WOOPS I FORGOT HE WAS SUCH A GREAT DIRECTOR.
oh yeah jarhead owns
rocknrolla 6.9/10 once up on a time in america - 9/10
tucker & dale vs evil 8.9/10
skyfall was okay. it was almost too predictable for something trying to fit in as a new take on the franchise, really kind of boring at parts, and none of the fight scenes seemed to have much tension. the villain was a step up from casino royale, but i thought everything else was kind of a step down. [sp]james's "death" at the beginning also really didnt seem to add anything to the plot besides a skill reset you typically see in video game sequels. and i really thought the villain's objective to just kill M was really underwhelming compared to the ridiculous steps he took to achieve it[/sp] better than quantum (by a nautical mile) but not as good as casino royale
I'd have to agree with you. I enjoyed the film quite a bit. Some of the camera shots towards the end were just amazing. I'd give it a 9/10.
Dead Poets Society - 6.75/10 or 7/10 It was pretty good. One thing that bothered me was Mr. Keating's lines. All cheesy and super idealistic. I liked how the characters developed, and some of the dialogue. Humor's decent. [sp]Plot points like the suicide and that kid getting punch after he snitched were unexpected and really good / effective.[/sp]
[sp]having clarence boddicker for a father would probably make me kill myself too, the man is pure nasty evil.[/sp]
i laughed at some scenes with him because
fuckin tickets for argo and most of skyfall were sold out, had to wait 2 hours for skyfall Skyfall - 8.7/10 loved it, THE modern james bond movie. you could almost erase the previous 2 if you ask me it felt very similair to The Dark Knight which was awesome
Just watched the two Wall Street movies. Wall Street: 8/10 Money Never Sleeps: 6/10 I love Shia LaBeiaoieouf and adore Carey Mulligan, but I just felt that it focused too much on their relationship and the personal side of the characters instead of staying topical. It became a bit of a romance movie. Without the other, sort-of intelligent and topical business half, this would not be a Wall Street movie. In my opinion, the films tears itself between two choices, and subsequently leaves a hollow centre. It doesn't know what it is or what it is saying, although a lot of you would probably say the same of me.
The Mist: 10/10 Stephen King really caught me off guard with this one. [sp]I did expect him to shoot the occupants of his car to rid of their "impending fate". However, when I heard the 4th bullet go off, I knew he shot his son as well. I thought the movie was going to end after he got out of the car to attempt to commit suicide. But no, Mr. King had other plans for this mindfuckery. Instead he stepped out. But a minute after he did, that tank rolls on by, and the mist starts to clear. That tank was soon followed by a truck carrying the SAME PEOPLE that betrayed them in the food market. That was really fucking depressing. [/sp] Sorry for the long spoiler. I just don't want to ruin it for y'all if you do plan on watching it. All in all, the rest of the movie was superb! No complaints about this movie.
Kids - 7/10 I liked it.

[sp]The convoy rolling past after seemed like such a predictable thing to happen, but it was still throat-lumping.[/sp]
The Darjeeling Limited - 8.5/10
Snatch - 6/10 The editing got tiring at times. Good fun, but wouldn't really watch it again.
Skyfall - 9/10 just a great movie overall. needed more gadgets though :v:
The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou - 6.75/10 It's okay. I like Anderson's absurdist style. Aesthetically great. Production is crazy. I like the sets, composition, and costumes. The storytelling I can't get jiggy with.
Contagion - 8.5/10 Depressing. The last scene sent chills down my spine. The reporter is also a dick.
Bully 6.8/10 Great story. Kind of awkward pacing at first, exposition is quick as shit. [editline]11th November 2012[/editline] Bully 2001
The Last Circus 7/10 Incredible visuals, overwhelming amount of visual symbolism, but goes off the rails fairly often. Also is incredibly fucked up. Spanish foreign film, but does have English subtitles.
Ken Park - 7/10 Great. Larry Clark is really good at depicting the struggle youth might go through. [sp]It's stands on equal footing compared to Kids imo. My main gripe is that the ending doesn't really connect the three together, comes off as arbitrary.[/sp]
Contagion - 8.5/10 Depressing. The last scene sent chills down my spine. The reporter is also a dick.
i've been meaning to see this, didn't know if it stood up to other parallel story movies.

End of Watch - 8.5/10 loved every bit, its such a fucking shame that more people go watch paranormal activity 4 instead of this and Dredd it was really a new fresh direction in the gangs vs cop type movies. recommended for sure also Collateral - 7.4/10 i really think it couldve been such a better movie if some action scenes were pulled off differently
I saw Reservoir Dogs for the first time yesterday. 9.5/10 I fucking loved every second. Edit: Oh god and the opening credits. Amazing.
12 Monkeys - 9.7/10 Gummo - 3.6/10
