Dude, spoiler tag that. And don't give it a high rating because it was highly anticipated. Give us your own take on it.
Didn't live up to to my expectations.. Hell, after seeing the Dark Knight, I expected nothing less and due to that, I was disappointed with the D.K. Rises. Also sorry about the Robin spoiler, but it's nothing significant really.
so that's what kubrick voice sounds like, woah. thought it was gonna be deep and bold from his appearance. what's a good kubrick bio book?
Paranormal activity 4: started out promising for what I expected, but meh, not worth watching. Also feels like they rushed the last 20 minutes
the dark knight was a better movie than the dark knight rises but i enjoyed tdkr more
rises blew
Just finished 1984 after reading the book. Great cinematography but felt it was quite fast-paced, they left out some important scenes and interesting dialogue (like the other men at the cell and Winston's wife), and I doubt people who haven't read the book would appreciate or even understand the movie. It feels like a normal person couldn't "get" most of it. I'd like some input on that from other people who have watched it. Also, they changed "comrade" to "brother/sister" for some reason and I didn't like that. I'd say 6/10, good but I'd go for the book if you're into it for anything besides the visual aspect of it. Might also be a good idea to watch it first, then read the book for a much deeper look into the whole thing. [editline]16th November 2012[/editline] Also apparently there's another film but it's "loosely based" and is the one everyone remembers? I'm talking about the one made in 1984 and called "Nineteen Eighty-Four" I guess.
Rises had to potential to be amazing. It had all the right things. Great cast, story, director, budget. I just think people were let down because of the choppiness of it all. It felt like the kind of movie that Nolan wanted to make 4 hours long, but was forced to cut it down to 2 and a half. I personally would have loved to see the full length version that they wanted. That being said, it was still fantastic, just not as solid a film as the original Dark Knight.

It's a great overview of his whole career and the things he tried to do with every single one of his films. It's an A4 hardback book and I got it for like £6 off amazon. Great deal. There's also loads of awesome stills and pictures of films and Kubrick. It's really good and an easy read.
Birdemic 1/10 Why.
Wreck-it Ralph. 9/10.
The Yellow Sea <Hwanghae> 8.5/10 korean blood and gore axe murder spree towards the ending. otherwise its p good for a asian movie
Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World - 8.5/10 Been meaning to watch this for a while and I'm glad I did.
The Usual Suspects : 7.5/10 It was good, but I saw the twist at the end coming. Still a solid movie. I haven't really enjoyed any movies that much recently so maybe it would have been an 8/10 if I were more in the mood. Speaking of which, can anyone recommend any other films with good twists in them? Yes I've seen The Sixth Sense. I've also seen Saw (The first one, the rest were shitty "LOOK HOW GORY WE CAN BE" films, but the first was genuinely a great film).

[editline]16th November 2012[/editline] Inland Empire - 6.5/10 Yeah that was weird. 3 hour movie. - I don't think it's one of Lynch's best. Narrative is slow and seemingly aimless. I think there's lots of pointless scenes that could've been omitted to streamline and refine it. I don't like the digital look and noise, though that could've been an artistic choice? + All things Lynch are here. Brooding, creepy atmosphere. Terrifying music. Random scares by the simplest of devices. Narrative that blurs the line between what's reality and isn't. Great acting too. Not as good as Mulholland Dr., Blue Velvet, and Lost Highway. Those are fucking amazing.
The Room: Tommy Wiseau / 10 This incredible film is truly a masterpiece. Tommy Wiseau captured exactly what it is to be Tommy Wiseau. The incredible acting, flawless story and Tommy Wiseau make this film what it is. I highly recommend. Definitely a film to see before you die. [sp]I liked the part with Tommy Wiseau[/sp]

Isn't it better to just watch a film and then see the twist rather than anticipating it? Anyway, tons I'm forgetting: Unbreakable Lucky Number Slevin Witness for the Prosecution Click Also, does anyone know the title of the film similar to Catfish only there was murder involved?
The Silence of the Lambs - 9/10 This is how you make a horror movie. No need for aliens or monsters, no need for jump scares. The entire movie is just so disturbing it sticks with you well after the movie's over.
LA confidential - 9/10 it's even better the second time around :v:
The Dark Knight Rises- 10/10 I need to rethink my life and stop watching this fucking masterpiece so many times. I don't want to over-watch it like I did with the movie that came before it.
damn i didnt know it was out on bluray, i need to see that asap.
Cloud Atlas - Holy Shit That Was Amazing/10 I want to watch it again.
Gangs of New York - 8/10 Damn good. [editline]17th November 2012[/editline] This motherfucker. He's been an Italian, skinhead, and Irish gangster. What hasn't he been?

Argo 10/10 The ending slideshow was just blatant dick-waving, amazing show, go watch it
well, the time came. Nolan's Batman film 3 I had to wait a long while for my expectations to lower to the point where if it did disappoint, that I wouldn't be disheartened. Well... for shame it happened and it feels bad. Pedantic emotion, a load of waffle filled with flying saucers, smoke and hot air is what I got. A lot of this movie was Bane distorting my speakers with his "EQ'd to death" voice. In terms of intensity... I'd say I felt similar to the level of when I watched Fast Five. To be fair, this was a crisp film in HD. That crisp however was a gone off marmite flavour for the first half, then improved thereafter. Review completed. pls forgive. [editline]17th November 2012[/editline] I did see Dances with Wolves last night though. Really brilliant film. 4 hour director's cut allowed me to fully absorb characters that were supposedly cut out in the theatrical cut. It's a shame Kevin Costner got ill thereafter, but this is 5 years of hard graft and he pretty much put his soul into directing this epic. Shows how much care and detail he went into the Sioux and Pawnee Native American cultures, going as far as learning the language and as far as I was concerned, really well depicted.
Dead before dawn - I laughed from time to time, but yet still another silly movie. 7.5/10 Osombie/Ozombie - Shit. 2/10
damn i didnt know it was out on bluray, i need to see that asap.
it isn't though? [editline]17th November 2012[/editline] Looks like it probably shipped to warehouses and shit. And of course warehouse workers never have any qualms about putting it up on the internet... a shame really.
Iron sky : What the fuck did I just watched/10 Sometimes It felt like it serious, sometimes it felt like it was comedy. It was really bizzare
Iron sky : What the fuck did I just watched/10 Sometimes It felt like it serious, sometimes it felt like it was comedy. It was really bizzare
How could Nazis taking over the moon be portrayed seriously?
How could Nazis taking over the moon be portrayed seriously?
I dunno, it just felt like it Still, it's really bizzare.
Lincoln, 8/10 It was alright, nothing to "wow" over. Yet it was hilarious at some points, solemnly dragged on in others. Tommy Lee was great throughout the movie, and brought the movie to life with his golden performance.
