The Expendables 2 - Twilight for men/10 The special effects were terrible, the acting was bad, and the story was even worse. WTF is Chuck Norris doing in this movie? Why is he in the same place as the rest of the guys? Why could they fight 100000 guys at the airport but not save[sp]the sniper guy[/sp]? Why does Sylvester Stallone sound drunk all of the time? Why can't I understand what anyone is saying? The whole thing felt really cheap and stupid. A cash in for old action movie fans. The actor allusions were funny at first but a lot of the ones towards the end felt really forced. "Yippie kia mother fuckers" really? The action felt like a Call of Duty fragmovie. At least it wasn't boring I guess.
I couldn't even finish watching the Expendables 1. Simply too terrible and boring. And for that very reason the Expendables 2 is an instant nope for me.
Skyfall - 8/10 Haven't seen any bond films in full except for this one. I liked that the movie would rather show you than tell you. One of the friends I went with is a huge bond fan and he loved the movie though.
Gandhi 9/10
Paranorman 8.5/10 Fucking awesome.
Princess Mononoke 9/10 I watched this movie when I was really young and I didn't realize until now how much it affected my imagination.
Watched Exam on Dickflix last night. Was a good movie overall. Liked the plot and it had some good notions about not revealing too much information about the outside world to make it more mysteries.
Paranorman based on earlier suggestion - 8/10. Pretty great story and of course with most animated movies a great look at morality.
Got dragged to see Breaking Dawn Part II. Asylum-level effects, angsty Mary-Sue protagonist, plot holes out the ass, morbidly bland acting, and complete anticlimax with an "it's all a dream" cliche. 10/10.
Brave: 7.5/10 A charming film, but definitely not one of Pixar's best. Animation sure was good though.
Aeon Flux 7/10.
Revolver 9/10
Hot Rod 7/10
Platoon 9/10 would bang.
Revolver 9/10
Snatch. is a billion times better, if you loved Revolver(how did you do that), you'll love Snatch.
Life of Pi. 8.5/10 Really impressed
Platoon 9/10 would bang.
I honestly can't understand how Platoon is regarded so well. I couldn't even bare watching the half of it
Snatch. is a billion times better, if you loved Revolver(how did you do that), you'll love Snatch.
Speaking of Jason Statham, also Crank and LockStock. But Snatch is okay also.
I honestly can't understand how Platoon is regarded so well. I couldn't even bare watching the half of it
Because it's an emotionally and psychologically gripping film.
Platoon 9/10 would bang.
It's mostly just cheesy voice over and bad actors
incorrect
Been a while since I watched them so my memory is fuzzy but here goes: Big Fish 9/10 I know it's very much but compared to most other "modern fairytales" this actually managed the connection to reality very very well by the ending and that's what I loved about it, also I like Ethan Hawke as an actor. Stranger Than Fiction 8/10 Nicely executed, The idea not too uncommon yet not too overused, it was strange in some parts and heavily relies on the viewer to ignore the logical paradoxes but if you are willing to accept it, it's enjoyable. A lot like "The Invention Of Lying" Adaption 8/10 Brilliant performance by Nick Cage, far from the trash that sometimes comes with how he apparently does every script he ever touches, I just wish the ending was different. [editline]23rd November 2012[/editline]
Revolver 9/10
Revolver was pretty bad IMO, it tried to use this "Statham Movie" flair with a twist but the twist didn't work, I simply didn't care for the guy one bit, he is too much of a "victim of the story" and this is no drama.
Adaption 8/10 Brilliant performance by Nick Cage, far from the trash that sometimes comes with how he apparently does every script he ever touches, I just wish the ending was different.
Then I don't think you really got it. [sp]It was the deus ex machina he was told never to do - as well as the whole 'wow them in the end, and they're yours' or whatever. He says fuck reality, reality's boring, and totally makes up the ending of the movie. That's the whole point.[/sp]

The [sp]Brother was ivented by the writer anyway[/sp], I just didn't want him(the film character) to experience all of that after all he's been through. He was so likeable for me :(
so the film successfully got you emotional, in a film based on real people, about the one made up character, and you don't like that?
Yes. Edit: Ah well not entirely. It's more about how Charlie suffered for the whole movie and I just didn't want him to lose his brother. So it's more about the imaginary suffering of the real person. Weird, heh. Makes the movie even better.
Big Fish 9/10 I know it's very much but compared to most other "modern fairytales" this actually managed the connection to reality very very well by the ending and that's what I loved about it, also I like Ethan Hawke as an actor.
Ethan Hawke isn't in Big Fish, you're probably thinking Ewan McGregor (young Ed Bloom) or Billy Crudup (Will Bloom)
Because it's an emotionally and psychologically gripping film.
I found it pretty cheesy and just... poor. The only actor I found emotionally gripping was Willem Defoe, really.
Ethan Hawke isn't in Big Fish, you're probably thinking Ewan McGregor (young Ed Bloom) or Billy Crudup (Will Bloom)
McGregor. I always mix those names up.
more folk need to see End of Watch. don't watch the trailer though, ruins it as per usual. [editline]23rd November 2012[/editline]
I found it pretty cheesy and just... poor. End of Watch, huh?
