Did he work out how Sherlock[sp] faked the death?[/sp] Because the producers said that there is a hint in the episode.
saw "Hardcore" with George C Scott. Enjoyed it quite a bit. Written/Directed by the dude who wrote Taxi Driver. As mentioned in wiki, it shows a culture which doesn't get attention (just like Taxi Driver), the porn industry. Well seeing as it was 1979, that was true... now however we have a crapload of films that glorify the industry like Boogie Nights and such. This is nothing like Boogie Nights at all, in fact this is a very dark film. The plot is sound and pretty familiar (cliched in fact, but that doesn't matter). One of those gems from the 70s that becomes forgotten, just like The China Syndrome.
Winters Bone 10/10 everything about this movie was pretty much perfect I'd recommend it to everyone. [editline]24th November 2012[/editline] War Inc. 4/10 the idea sounded right and it could've been an alternative Idiocracy but someone took the pieces and did them all wrong each on its own. Also Cusack is the wrong type of guy for this.
Did he work out how Sherlock[sp] faked the death?[/sp] Because the producers said that there is a hint in the episode.
we've got ideas, but this is the hardest one yet
American gangster - 9/10 Denzel Washington is easily my favorite actor. His acting simply made this movie.
lilyo is so fuckin 'ard even his nightmares are scared of him.
I watch way too many horror movies and I just have high standards for movies that everyone says are supposed to be good. I don't get what's supposed to be scary about the mist because it ruins its own atmosphere by immediately showing you what you're supposed to be scared of. There's absolutely no suspense or expectations for you to have so you just have to sit through while the main characters run around like idiots. You know what's going to happen and the only part I thought was somewhat fucked up was the crazed religious lady towards the end, which seemed so over the top that it sort of ruined itself too. It was just too in your face like HEY THIS IS WHATS SUPPOSED TO BE SCARY LOOK HERE PLEASE I SWEAR IM SCARY. Horror movies need to be more meticulous and show some sort of progression in the story. The mist is just like "Damn there's some shit outside, lets run away. Damn there's some shit inside too, lets run away. Damn there's shit everywhere now, but we can't run anymore. Oh wait yeah we could opps! The end." I like movies that are a slap in your face at the end but this one is just poorly thought out.
You say it's a horrible movie and then you give it a 5/10...
Well yeah it's the sort of movie where you either like it or don't. I think a bad movie (bellow 5) is something that exists without any sort of real purpose and holds itself up to a standard it obviously shouldn't even try to reach for. The Mist tries to be innovative but it doesn't do a good enough job with but at least it tries and acknowledges that the whole thing could fail (as i think it does). If you watch a movie and then at the end you literally can only recall 2-3 scenes it's probably a good indication that it was a shitty mundane movie. A movie like Final Destination 4, for example, I would rate 3/10 or something because it has no purpose and the world is better off without it existing. I like movies to have some sort of realization where you go "oh I get it", but the mist tries to present an idea without any argument towards it if that makes sense. It's just like "shit people go crazy when they're scared" and then nothing happens.
The Mist had potential but it kinda felt like it failed on many aspects. i really only liked 2 things about it, the main actor's realistic reaction to the whole situation and [sp]that annoying bitch getting shot[/sp] [editline]w[/editline] wtf frank darabont directed it i didnt know that wtf
I didn't even think the reactions were realistic. They literally just stood there like idiots the majority of the time. I get what the movie is trying to do by showing all these people under pressure and disoriented but it just comes off as them all being idiots instead of scared, and then the ending just sort of kills the entire movie by sharply cutting off the build up. The only thing I liked was the old lady.
Did he work out how Sherlock[sp] faked the death?[/sp] Because the producers said that there is a hint in the episode.
I thought it was [sp]He called Molly and arranged for the fake ambulance and truck to get there to take him away after he falls in the truck filled with garbage bags. The guy knocks Watson who is standing far away (Sherlock tells him to stay far away) over and he's disoriented and doesn't get a good look fast enough so he can't check his pulse or anything. The truck drives away and they throw some blood on his face and quickly take him away while Watson is still disoriented.[/sp] E: fuck I type a lot
I liked the modern approach a lot, more so since they kept the technology parts mostly realistic compared to the godawful CSI stuff. Also the actors are a perfect cast, especially Watson and M
Did you see that episode with the wolf? So much horrible CSI computer bullshit [editline]24th November 2012[/editline]
it was reichenbach falls you moron, what did you think was going to happen
Thanks for flaming but falling off a water fall and not finding a body makes a faked death seem more plausible than jumping off a building and being confirmed dead
we've got ideas, but this is the hardest one yet
Fucking magic imo
Flight: 7.7/10 Pretty good. A drama that starts off excellent, kind of falls apart in the middle, then picks up a bit near the end. Denzel Washington and John Goodman made this film.
Skyfall: 10/10 It's a James Bond film without happy go lucky james bond that doesn't turn into a grimdark parody of itself either. Also awesome action scenes. Still here? Go watch it you useless prick!
Detachment: 8/10 A brilliant movie, didn't really expect this much from it, It completely derailed from what I thought was going to happen, excellent.
Vampyr Huh. Interesting. First time really trying to watch such an old film. Sparse dialogue, I like sparse dialogue. Now the film didn't blow me away, but the camera work is sexy - the panning in some scenes, and the POV from the coffin, sweet. Inglorious Basterds - 8.5/10 Hilarious. Beautiful. [sp]I like the part where Hitler dies.[/sp] In the Loop - 8.25/10 Script/screenplay is brilliant and hilarious. I haven't laughed that often in a while. A must watch. Bronson - wut/10 *Takes off glasses* I have to see that again. Brave - 7/10 Pretty cool. Visuals are dope as usual and you can see it's an evolution from their previous movies. I don't feel it's as interesting as other Pixar movies storywise though. First 15 minutes of God Bless America What an annoying movie, very preachy. Even if the criticisms are spot on, I can think of ton of movies that have a good comical or dramatic take on society's… shittiness. Lacking that it's just angst.
Lantana (2001) - 8/10. A look into the unhappy lives of four people set against the backdrop of a missing persons case. As good as it is, I don't think I would've given it a second glance if Geoffrey Rush hadn't been in it. 12 (2007) - 9/10. Russian rendition of "12 Angry Men", and boy howdy was it awesome. A lot of new elements that were added thanks to the setting (Moscow) were really neat. Might be a bit long winded for some at 2 hours and 38 minutes, but I loved every second of it.
Watched Hugo since it is streamable on Netflix now. I seen two types of reviews, those that read the book and hated the movie and those that just seen the movie while loving it. I have not read the book yet but damn was the movie good.
why would you watch them all? [editline]25th November 2012[/editline] looks like you wasted your time..
why would you watch them all? [editline]25th November 2012[/editline] looks like you wasted your time..
that's funny actually, watching two bad ones in a row, know they're bad, and then watching the rest of it.
It's like watching the Aliens series.
The Raid 11/10
It's like watching the Aliens series.
ummmm
The Conversation (1974) - 8.5/10 (saw it a month ago or something, though) Really good stuff. A bit overshadowed by Coppola's Godfather series, so I feel it's a bit underrated. I love Gene Hackman in this movie and the soundtrack fits the feeling of the movie so well. [editline]25th November 2012[/editline] now I'm gonna go watch Deer Hunter since I've only witnessed bits and the ending.
Safety Not Guaranteed 10/10
Resident Evil- 3/10 Resident Evil Apocalypse- 3/10 Resident Evil Extinction- 2/10 Resident Evil Afterlife- 2/10 Jesus fucking Christ, what a terrible series. As a longtime fan of the video game series, my expectations were high, but I lowered them purposely due to the fact that these movies are universally hated. Why the fuck did they add this Alice character at all? I don't remember her from the games. I wouldn't mind as much if she wasn't the main fucking character. Not to mention that she can't act worth shit in these films because her director husband can't direct to save his soul. I just hated how fucking lame these movies were. They felt like they were meant to be PG-13 movies or something. They weren't extremely gory or anything. They seemed to go for the same target audience that Call of Duty goes for. Resident Evil deserves more than that. Especially after Resident Evil 2 and 4 which actually had solid stories to them. There was a lot of potential that could have been put into these movies, but they were just empty shells of movies where potential could have and should have been. Man, I hated these movies.
I still like the first one
Rusty can you please write your opinion on Safety Not Guaranteed
It was easy viewing, but nothing special at all. I liked that the [sp]time machine was real.[/sp]. But the whole thing was kind of inconsequential and forgettable.
He Was A Quiet Man- 6/10 Interesting, had a lot more potential, but it didn't use it properly, the story became convoluted near the end, and unless you're able to interpret all of the repeating symbols you're not going to be able to understand the main character properly.
What the fuck are you talking about? Alien, Aliens and the Assembly Cut to Alien[sub][sub]3[/sub][/sub] were all great films. The fourth one's pretty bad and Prometheus was disappointing, but don't go saying things we can't take back.
I was being sarcastic. Just wanted to see how much hate it would bring up. I've actually never seen an Aliens movie. Just watched The Assassination of Jesse James. It was pretty well done, but rather long. My favorite part of it was the narrator.
Just watched Wreck It Ralph. Holy shit it was GREAT. 10/10. One of the best movies this year. I laughed, I cried, I understood the hidden references... A+ would watch again.

End of Watch 9/10 would recommend
Lawless - 8.5/10 it wasnt like Assassination of Jesse James but i already got that from the trailer i fucking loved Tom hardy and Guy pearce in it, absolutely fantastic acting and Shia labeouf didnt really seem to be the main focus, which i thought would be. He just makes some stupid decisions that gets them in deeper shit and kinda stays like that. but its based on a true story so i cant really blame about that still thrilling, funny and it ends so satisfactional
