Kinda interested in seeing Steve McQueen's films (the black director, not the dead actor). Are Hunger and Shame worth watching?
Steve McQueen is one of the best directors I've ever seen, Shame is one of my fave films of all time and the best film of 2011 (tied w/ Drive) and Hunger fuckin owns as well And as expected Michael Fassbender is fucking great in both short answer yes watch the films [editline]25th November 2012[/editline] Fassbender in Shame=one of my favourite performances ever. Really he does so little, but conveys SO much. His character's explained incredibly deeply and you can honestly work out his entire life, even though throughout the film he doesn't really do a huge amount (I mean he does but yea you'll get it when you watch the film) but every single thing tells a new part of his personality and his life, it's great. Just from like habits to the way he looks at people, how he talks, his posture etc its fuckin genius [editline]25th November 2012[/editline] yea think im gonna watch shame again today lol
Superbad. 9/10. Holy shit I never understood what the hell "McLovin" was until now.
The Dark Knight Rises Pretty damn awesome. 10/10 bats.
The Dark Knight Rises Pretty damn awesome. 10/10 bats.
Was pretty good, I'd give it about an 8.5/10, but it can't touch The Dark Knight.
Was pretty good, I'd give it about an 8.5/10, but it can't touch The Dark Knight.
my boxset of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight is all I need tbh.
Dark Knight Rises was a better movie.

Mostly Bane, The Joker has been done so much, and most of the time he was done very well. Bane has never been done well outside of the comics, and he actually has motivation, unlike the Joker who seems to really be just a real life troll. What made the Joker compelling was Heath Ledgers performance, not the character really.
Bane has never been done well outside of the comics
haven't read the comics so that's your call which I accept. as for Tom Hardy portraying a more intriguing villain than Heath Ledger, there's not much there to make me get it. When you see Tom Hardy without the mask in the film, I remember him speaking normally for like a second. He didn't have this flamboyant scottish accent, I never understood this bit. At least with The Joker, you have a distinct picture of his upbringing and an idea of what made him like he was. Heath Ledger just freed himself up in that performance, regardless whether he was "accurate to the comics", this isn't a comic book adaptation but solely a concept one tbh.
The comic thing is what I am told about the comics when people bring up Bane being a terrible character, I don't think I have read a Batman comic, maybe when I was little but I'm not sure. And you know nothing about The Joker in TDK, all you know is he is insane.
And you know nothing about The Joker in TDK, all you know is he is insane.
I was more familiar with The Joker's mindset than with Bane. Bane didn't exactly seem insane even though he was supposed to be, it didn't look like he had cause at all.
I like that Bane wasn't obviously insane. Antagonist's who are purely insane and have no real motivation are boring as shit, look at Nero from Star Trek 09, the guy was just pure crazy, and that just isn't compelling to me.
look at Nero from Star Trek 09
better example:Javier Bardem's character in No Country for Old Men? [editline]25th November 2012[/editline]
Antagonist's who are purely insane and have no real motivation are boring as shit.
So Bane's motivation was nothing and you don't call that boring as shit?
So did you just not pay attention to the movie at all?
So did you just not pay attention to the movie at all?
You tell me what you thought Bane's cause was and we'll see where this discussion goes. :)
He says it in the movie. [sp]Bane and Talia want to finish off what Ra's Al Ghul's couldn't do, destroy Gotham. And to make Gotham suffer Bane gives them all false hope.[/sp] Did that fly over your head?
[sp]Bane and Talia want to finish off what Ra's Al Ghul's couldn't do, destroy Gotham. And to make Gotham suffer Bane gives them all false hope.[/sp]
That moment was crap. Also still doesn't explain Bane's personal cause.
Saw Lincoln the other day. Mostly talking scenes, but it did have that good old-fashioned Spielberg humor.
Saw Lincoln the other day. Watch "My Left Foot", he actually lived like that in order to portray the character.
I just want to see Daniel Day Lewis doing what he does best, live his character. Watch "My Left Foot", he actually lived like that in order to portray the character.
To be honest, I know very little of Daniel Day Lewis's work. I'll be sure to change that, though.
To be honest, I know very little of Daniel Day Lewis's work. I'll be sure to change that, though.
srs watch There Will Be Blood, Daniel Day Lewis is a great actor.
i have to watch that again.
oh shit i never finished watching that movie welp time to watch some more [editline]26th November 2012[/editline] also dark knight was better than rises, etc
Submarine 9.5/10 Good movie. I like Richard Ayoade even more now.
Black Dynamite - 7/10 Fairly entertaining. :v:
That moment was crap. Also still doesn't explain Bane's personal cause.
[sp]because bane is in love with talia you idiot !!!![/sp]
Lincoln: 10/10 Hot damn what a great film that was.
I was more familiar with The Joker's mindset than with Bane. Bane didn't exactly seem insane even though he was supposed to be, it didn't look like he had cause at all.
hardy was a lot more subtle about it. when he's explaining what he's gonna do to Gotham in the prison, his eyes sort of lose their focus, like he's losing himself in his fucked up "give em hope then violently rip it away" plan. almost like he's getting off on it a little. [editline]26th November 2012[/editline] seriously akayz most of the time it seems your opinion is based on something tangible but everything you've said about why this movie is shit is just straight up WRONG. [editline]26th November 2012[/editline] and not in the "your opinion is different ur wrong" kind of way that goes on a lot here, but straight up factual concrete provable incorrectness
Recently saw Metropia, I really liked it despite bad reviews. 9/10
