I'll give it that, 300 is a perfect adaption of the graphic novel.
Problem is the graphic novel sucks.
the movie makes the graphic novel better, with the extra shit (subplot with the queen, and i don't remember the rest because i am too drunk to do so), but yeah the graphic novel is short enough that the entirety of it resides within the film.
The Dark Knight Rises 10/10
That was fucking awesome. One of the best movies of the year.
The Life of Pi : 9.5/10
It was a really beautiful movie in my opinion, in both the story and in the effects/scenery. [sp]The tiger story was very believable and when the tiger left I had a tear in my eye, which is rare if I might say so myself.[/sp]

Lol yea maybe If- dredd, perks of being a wallflower, end of watch, holy motors, Argo, the master, and looper didnt come out
And im sure the hunt, amour and the hobbit will be better too
holy moly you really think end of watch was better than tdkr? im dying

(also the hobbit will be terrible)
yes it was great (feeling a best actor academy award nomination for Jake gyllenhaal- but I think the award will go to joaquin phoenix for the master because he was absolutely amazing) and no the hobbit will own
Rock of ages 2/5
Disney Movie with nudity, alcohol and a few Good actors. Women in their 40s Will love it.

jake was good and the movie was alright but overall it was really corny and awkward and way too bromancey to the point of ridiculousness. script could have used a lot of work too
The Nines - 8/10
Weird movie, definitely not a thriller (Netflix had it labeled as one), but still pretty good.
I pray to the TV gods that the Hobbit lives up to LOTR.
I pray to the TV gods that the Hobbit lives up to LOTR.
pretty low expectations then lol!
I pray to the TV gods that the Hobbit lives up to LOTR.
I hope so too, I loved the book and with todays technology they can make it even better than LOTR, I watched it a few weeks back and I have to say, I don't know why but, the "age" already shows.

it is very painful that you think technology has a single thing to do with making a movie better

Some fantasy movies live off the immersion of the world. I don't think I would've enjoyed the ghost riders in LOTR being paper cutouts.
Note how I am talking about THIS movie, not movies in general.
The Dark Knight Rises - 8/10
Not as good as The Dark Knight, but still enjoyable.

Yeah that's why the worst thing about LOTR is that it's technology isn't as good as todays! Oh yeah it's that it has a boring plot, wooden acting, lifeless characters, poor and awkward dialogue, hamfisted and corny 'emotional' scenes, robotic fight scenes, an obnoxious running time and way too much walking. Oh also it has a very visually unappealing and bland style.

Peter Jackson should go back to b-horror movies. it's the only good thing he's ever done

lol you don't know what your talking about.
I Think the lord of the rings Movies chaptures the Books very well. Then there is the question of wether you enjoy the Books or Movie adoptions of Books in general.
Not sure why my phone capatalize random Words.

But I was talking about the technology.
Applying the way he talks to opinions different to his here:
Because he is wrong.
idk I mean I think the lotr films are pretty great but it looks like he justified why he doesn't like them in his last post lol. rusty might post in a way that he is objectively right but it's not like he doesn't back up why he thinks he's right
he gives better reasons for his views than most people in this thread lol
I was just trying to say that the quality of the special effects is better nowadays, it shows in some parts of LOTR, the way the hobbits look, some Nazgul flying scenes.
I hope the golden Dragon gets enough attention.
The LOTR trilogy are some of the greatest adventure films of our generation and I hope that The Hobbit continues to be just as good if not better.
I just want to point out that they're making the hobbit, a short childrens book, into 3 full length movies., That's rarely a good sign
still, I have a lot of reservations, Jackson might have been the right person to cast for LOTR but that doesn't mean he's the right person to cast for the Hobbit, the two films have different tones
The movie time/book length ratio is just too shallow to base my expectations on.
Look at The Sunset Limited. Great movie but a book on it would probably 100 pages long. Or The Road.
Point being : I get your point and yes the danger of stretch exists but I'd rather stay positive.

Yeah but Thief of Baghdad is superior to most modern fantasy CGI flicks. Haven't seen LOTR yet but my point still stands.
Seriously that film was 1940 and still gives me a real buzz unlike some of the really plastic feeling films.
Argo - 8/10
One of the best movies this year. Tense and very historically accurate.
End of Watch is a very good movie and all, but its not close to TDKR
i mean cmon
